I have spare beds available in the accomodation thread.

It's not that messy. Just Troy doing his thing. He's slept on the hall runner at my place when doing a late one fixing his car, just so he doesn't mess the bed up.

Dane would bring the Clubsport up if that had a decent clutch in it.

I've offered him to co drive my car and he is still deciding if he's going to do that. (I'm tipping that he will!) Although my clutch is wearing pretty thin too.

Must be an evil clutch spirt lurking around DECA competitors!

I took the shitbox in for a bit of a check today and got it back only to be told that the clutch is on its way out so I gotta take it easy heh. take it easy? fark that for a joke!

Gonna see if I can convince them to just put in a new one before saturday hehe

PS: Dane don't be a big pansy, either get upstaged driving the missus's car or bring the clubby :)

Thanks for the offers guys, really appreciate it!!

If you guys are up for it, then so am I!! I'm spewing that I'm going to miss DECA, such a killer. It's even more of a killer because I just had the box out of the car on friday doing the rear main and the gearbox seal, and put martini oil in it... BA BOW for me :)

Do you have anywhere to do it. Is your clutch/flywheel etc all ok? If its jsut swapping over the gearbox do you want to have a go Thursday night? Throw in some cheap oil, drive it up to DECA Friday night to get some kms on it, flush out the cheap oil Friday night then top up with the good stuff Friday night...quick check everything is ok and then go thrashing on Saturday...

LOL...that was my self imposed penance for setting my car on fire. Plus i was flithy as all hell and didnt want to shower up and wake you guys with my singing :)

My clutch is having slight issues... I've got some hairline fractures in the plates, but I don't know how long it's been like that. It seems to be working fine, but Sam seems to think that it may not be disengaging completely. We noticed it was like this before I went to morwell, so obviously it's been like that for a while and hasn't seem to have affected it too much. He's pricing me up a rebuild kit for it at the moment.

So as far as I'm aware it's only changing the box. The only issue I could see is that the block looks like it has been hacked a little bit with a screwdriver, so when they put the rear main seal in they had to silicon it a little bit to ensure it didn't leak, which it didn't, well at least for the 24 hours I had it back

I would love to be able to give it a go, however I'm not that mechanically minded, so I don't know how much help I will be, but I can follow orders! The major issue is somewhere to do it, as I don't have a garage/undercover area. I'll see if I can fin anywhere.

Thanks so much for the offers guys, I really appreciate it

Dave: If I bust the clubbie I'm really f**ked!! haha I'm really taking it easy until I can afford to replace the clutch in it... might have to settle for getting whooped by Juz, or we can put the box in the 180 and I can whoop her good haha

Woohhoooo I'm getting whooped!

Thems are fighting words Dane... Your lucky I'm in another state otherwise I would've kicked you in the junk for that comment!! hehe

I'll give you a run for your money (or should I say lack of money!).

It may pan out like this...

*Insert Dramatic Build up music*

Deca....

Two Drivers....

One S15...

There will be only one winner....

No prize for second best....

No excuses...

Its not just about the Hats anymore...

*More Dramatic Music*

hehe :P

I've also had to pull out because of car problems. I was under my car having a look on the weekend checking things and changing tyres and noticed my exhaust is about to split in half. The centre mount has broken and the muffler and exhaust are about to seperate! Unfortunately I don't have the time this week or the cash to fix it so I'm out for this one. I am still hoping to be there to help out and watch you all battle it out.

If you guys are serious about getting the 180 sorted, I will lend a hand if I have time on Thu. It can't be any more painfull than the GTR Box. TX5 boy and me had that out and in pretty quick.

Dane find a place. Can anyone lend a factory with hoist we can use late?

Dane, bring the car down to driftline and we can chuck it up on the hoist and have the gearbox swapped over in no time if you want it done before DECA. I'm sure some of the jspec boys would help out too... and the monkeys at driftline who cahnge gearboxes pretty much every day on drift thrashed 180s.

Should be able to organise it say late thursday or even friday night and then a cruise up to Shepp (seeing as driftline is off the Hume anyways)?

Thanks for that Shan. The only issue is a lack of funds to get the box in before DECA, otherwise the car is down at Sam's (Dr Drift) and I could probably get it done this week. But having to buy the other box has seriously depleted the bank account...

Chris: Thanks for the offer mate, much appreciated. :P

The boxes are usually pretty easy to put in as far as I'm aware, the only issue may be pulling the external gate off in order to tilt the engine.

Silva33: Thanks mate, if everyones up for the job that would be great!!

I can't say how much I appreciate all these offers guys, shows what a great car club this is. I owe everyone a beer!!

At some stage the genius engineers decided that the fluid in the trans was "for the life of the transmission", (which seems kind of self supporting to me) and removed the dip stick and fill tube (funnily enough there is still a casting for it). Anyway, for this job you do need 2 specialist tools in addition to regular hand tools, jack and good chassis stands. You need a way to pump fluid up to the transmission; I got one of these but there are plenty of other options: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/364584087070 Don't trust the generic listing though, it does not come with the required adapter for the Nissan 7 Speed. You need one of these, can't do the job without it: https://navarapart.com.au/product/genuine-nissan-patrol-y62-d23-np300-navara-re7-dipstick-fill-connector1 You need a heap of compatible transmission oil. Could be Nissan, could be anything else rated for Nissan Matic S. You need at least 10 litres, I had 15 to give it a better flush... Also, you need some biiig oil catch trays, at least one of these, or bigger if possible (volume was fine, size was very marginal): https://autobarn.com.au/ab/Autobarn-Category/Tools-%26-Garage/Specialty-Tools/Oil-Service/Garage-Tough-Oil-Drain-Pan-Black-16L---GT1068/p/TO03191 Finally, a measuring jug is very useful if your pump does not have volumes marked on it, I got a 6l one: https://www.repco.com.au/oils-fluids/fluid-accessories/measuring-jugs/penrite-measuring-jug-6l-pmj006/p/A5322648 Oh, and gloves.....this stuff is horrible (not as bad as diff oil, but getting there) ....First, jack up your car.....
    • So I mentioned the apprentice, @LachyK helped take the bonnet off. We just undid the nuts on the hinges and unclipped the gas struts, then pulled the bonnet back a little as the front was catching on the front bar.  I had a good look at everything today and have removed the rams, repaired/reset the hinges and bolted it back together like it never happened. I'll do a separate write up on the repair, and I also removed the poppers from the Fuga today too to save grief down the road.....as said above it is at least $5k to repair retail. I'm also happier about my ability to prepare a race car, and less happy about Nis-nault's engineering (I can hear @GTSBoy sAfrican Americaning) because the top hose of the radiator didn't slip off.......it snapped clean off. By practice I put the hose clamp hard up against the flare on a neck to make it least likely to ever move (thanks @Neil!). I guess that puts a little more pressure on the end of the pipe as it is further away from the rad, but still, that is pretty shit. I've put it back on for now as there was a fair bit of neck still there, but obviously there is no lip on the neck any more so I don't think I'll track it again until I have a new rad. Speaking of which....more research required. It looks like Koyo makes a standard size radiator in ally which I'll grab in the meantime, but I really want something thicker so might have to go custom in the medium term (ouch) Coolant still needs a refill and I have the pressure tester on it over night, but other than a wash down of the engine bay it seems alright. And @MBS206 noted something noisy on the front of the engine and I think I agree....time for a new accessory belt and tensioners I think.
    • our good friends at nismo make a diff for it, I have one (and a spare housing to put the centre in) on the way. https://www.nismo.co.jp/products/web_catalogue/lsd/mechanical_lsd_v37.html AMS also make a helical one, but I prefer mechanical for track use in 2wd (I do run a quaife in the front, but not rear of the R32)
