Hey Guys,

Before I start hitting tracks on a regualr basis I would just to have some sort of timing solution, which is better than bringing a friend with a stop watch or mounting a stowatch on your dash. Are there any purpose built stand alone solutions there for this??

I've seen this timer made by some italian company which fits in the centre of teh steering wheel which i think is cool...but it doesnt have a lap memory so it's only usefull for 1 hot lap. I guess what I'm after is a cheap, purpose built timer with a memory for lap times so I can stack up individual lap times, that can be easily secured to the car and easily pressed whilst going WOT down pass the start/finish line.

Any ideas?

I have a 32 lap timer from Speedwerx, but I'm not sure if they sell them anymore as they are not on their website. Speedwerx

Revolution Racegear has a steering wheel that has a built in laptimer that is triggered manually.

UAS are selling in car timing cheap about $300 from memory.

I paid over $600 for my intercomp and I am unhappy with how it works....it either misses laps or triggers mid lap. The sensitivity is adjustable but it takes a lot of stuffing around

Yeh the AiM units are very good. Im very happy with my Data Logger. More info then i know what to do with. The AiM lap timer has plenty of cool features...and from what i have seen the price that UAS sells them for...hard to go past

Actually, here it is http://www.aimrace.com.au/tgitaly1.htm

I did hear around 6 months ago there were a few bugs with them. But probably ironed out by now...if not a software upgrade for them will sort it out when they sort it out.

Is there one for the Window base PDA?

I've been using the AIM as well and it's very user friendly. My mate has been bugging me to sell it to him :O Has anyone got a link to the UAS website? For 300 buck brand new, he should get it from them LOL

Um, sorry Baron - how much is it?

aimsports timer is ~$300. the driftbox judging from their site is around $1500. maybe a bit less but surely more than $1200 considering it's 465 squid + shipping to aus (unless someone is retailling them here).

Um, JDM imports do them. They have them listed for $1300, so you are pretty close with the estimate.

I thought I saw the Mychron TG timer on the back page of the Motorsport NSW mag for $449.

So the simple lap time is much cheaper. On the other hand the driftbox tells you lateral & longitudinal gees, speed, drift angle, track position & some other handy features. Unfortunately it doesn't log rpm which is a bit of a silly omission. That lot will tell you much more than just a straight lap time or even a sectored lap time. :(

yeah true true. Even at $449 i think the aim mychron timer is pretty good value. but not as much info as the driftbox, but i'd have nfi what to do with half of it! I just want reliable laptimes. :(

I'm selling my current lap timer as I am upgrading to a full dash with inbuilt timing. It's a Kartronic LT32 unit, this stores 32 times.

It comes with the Reciever and IR beacon.

$200

I'm in Yarra Glen, Victoria.

    • Hi 🙋‍♂️. Just bought my Unicorn but the interior need some minor work so it would match my expectations ;). I noticed it is hard to get used oem floor mats in good condition so i started to dig if there's any chance to buy set of new ones. I found two websites - nengun and amayama and it looks like one can still buy factory new floor mats in Japan, but thers a small issue. Some mats (i assume genuine, oem ones) are marked as G4900 and these are "discontinued". The ones you can buy are marked as G4911 but i have no idea if these are also oem, made by other producer or some lower quality replacements that looks entirely different. Can anyone help? 😃  P.s. there is also some strange indication - 0V005, 0V015 and 0V505. Any idea what does it mean? Would appreciate any help with this 🙏
    • Hi, Marek here 🙋‍♂️. I finally fulfilled my longtime dream - recently bought Stagea and now waiting for it to arrive in Poland. There's only few of these in my country, and one of the owners  recommended mi this forum as a source of all the info i'd need since now i own one  so here i am.
    • Version 1 aluminium airbox is.......not acceptable No pics as I "didn't like the look.....alot" Even after all my "CAD", and measurements, the leg near the fusebox just didn't sit right as it ended up about 10mm long and made the angle of the dangle look wrong, the height was a little short as well, meh, I wasn't that confident that Version 1 was going to be an instant winner I might give Version 2 another go, there's plenty of aluminium at work, but, after having in on and off a few times, and laying in the old OEM airbox without the new pod filter and MAF, there may be an option to modify the OEM air box and still use the Autoexe front cover and filter.... maybe This >  Needs to fit in here, but using the panel, and not the pod, the MAF will need to fit in the airbox though> I'm thinking as the old OEM box and Autoexe cover that is sitting in the shed is just sitting around doing nothing, and they are relatively abundant and cheap to replace if I mess it up and need another, it may well fit with some modifications to how the Autoexe brackets mounts to the rad support, and some dremiling to move it get in there, should give me some more room for activities, as I don't want to move the MAF and affect the tune Sealing the hole it requires to stick it in the air box is simple, a tight fit and some pinch weld will seal it up tight  I am calling this a later problem though
    • and it ends up being already priced in as though you're just on 91RON without any ethanol. Car will lose a bit of economy as the short and long term fuel trims bring down the AFR back to stoich or whatever it is for cruise/idle for the engine.
    • Oh, you are right. But, in Australia E10 is based on 91RON fuel and ends up being 94RON. Hence it being the cheaper option for economy cars. The more performance oriented cars go for the 98RON fuel that has no ethanol mixed in. The only step up we have left then at some petrol stations is E85.
