And of course Marc who actually got roped into doing something!! Way to go Karen!!
:)
P.S. Max, please delete that first photo of my wild swing which exposed my large gut!!
Your request will be granted, if I can figure out how. I thought that the use of weight distribution gave you the ability to balance, with grace and control.
Sorted :)

Had a great day. Thanks execs !!!!!!!!!!!!!!:) Had to bail out after the prize draw to go to family commitments. How did the mystery cruise go?

Looking forward to more SAU events now that I have a bit more time to cruise again.

Maybe next year we can break the record and go for 120 cars.

Had a mad arse time peoples, was a bit ruined by people flogging off the peace with rev limiters. Just remember it is fine to flog your car, just try not to do it where the cruise is being held. We all know what an rb rev limiter sounds like.

Great day though, enjoyed looking at all the hotted up rices. Hope another cruise comes up soon.

shame actions of one can bring the image of our whole club down

Exactly, though it wasn't just one person, nor was it just the R31s that have already been mentioned. I believe there was an R34 that did a burnout too, and a couple of R32s/R33s that made a heap of noise when they left. Not cool.

Remember guys, what you or your mates do reflects on all of us.

Had a great day guys and thanks to all organisers. Didn't see any of the burnouts/skids in question but heard the odd rev limiter.... :)

Anyway here are some pics, nowhere near everyone's car and you can probably tell I like 34's.... :)

I have highres versions if anyone wants one.

Cheers!

Don't bag it out too much guys - I've been on a boostlosing cruise *cough* and the behaviour today vs what I saw on that cruise is worlds apart. The odd skid or two and people banging it off the limiter as they leave is NOTHING (not that I'm condoning it).

On the aforementioned cruise I saw several GTSt's with GT-R badges on them (a heinous crime in its own right), and absolutely outrageous behaviour such as blocking all 4 lanes of the M1 and slowing traffic down to 60km/h on a busy Sunday morning so two guys could race. I saw this happen at least 4-5 times. A large group of cars also suddenly pulled over onto the shoulder of the M1 in a 100km/h zone (illegal) then when it came time to take off were just pulling out near-suicidally into the traffic.

I had my girlfriend in the car and I both was concerned for our safety (more concerned than I usually am sharing the roads with the general Commodore-Hilux-truck-driving public) and embarrassed to be associated with such anti-social behaviour. I saw several members of the public abuse people on the cruise - deservedly. On arrival at the cruise destination several guys initiated an impromptu hi-fi "sound off" (my subwoofer is bigger than your ego etc.) too. There were no activities or BBQ organised so everyone stood around in the hot sun until they got bored and left.

That said, there WERE some great cars there and I met a few nice people, but what we had today was fantastic in comparison. So let's focus on the positives here, we have a great club, it was an awesome day, no-one did figure-8's and showered people with gravel and dickhead driving during the cruise was kept to a minimum.

/end rant!!! :)

All in all, was a great day

Well organised – clearly a good move by the club to now have 4 ppl on the Events Committee

I just hope we don’t have to wait another FULL year to see 100+ skylines together again.

I agree totally with Jmac. Oh maybe totally.

What he said is completely true about boostcruising cruises in comparison to the SCC...cant compare them in regards to organisation and structure.

However in saying that very few ppl were dickheads on the day is true...i still think old mate no front bar R34 should have his HKS SSQ blow off valve taken from him as i think he really enjoys the sound of it above 6k RPM.

Cheers for the cruise.

    • A group of friends hired the local drag strip off season, cold weather and no prep means it was super slippery but still allowed for a fun day of 1/8th mile (no ambo meant we couldn't do side by side 1/4) roll racing and Dragy runs.   The wee BMW didn't embarrass itself at all considering the 2WD group I was competing in had a couple of supercharged V8s (an LSA and a blown LS2), a 600kw M135i, a 500kw R32 GTS-t and some other spicy things - I actually ended up beating the blown LS2 & 600kw M135i heads up in roll races and faced the GTS-t in the final, losing by just over a carlength which is far more than I was counting on with a very mildly tinkered with M135i.   For transparency sake this was EVERYTHING to do with being a fairly short distance on a shit track and having something without any lag and a brilliant gearbox, on a prepped track or a full 1/4 I'd have been destroyed. I did do a single sneaky full (well actually turns out I hit the brakes 10 or so metres early) 1/4 mile Dragy run and hit 12.88 @ 109mph on the brakes which is precariously close to my PB in my old GT30R GTS25t that ran 12.6 @ 111mph on Hoosiers  Pretty damn stoked with that considering I had a single attempt, and despite seeming well suited to the conditions vs the higher power cars and the time slip not looking THAT bad I still was having to work hard to not just do a rolling burnout <100kph and doesn't really show it's best at all.  I am pretty sure it would happily match the old R33 with a full run on a better surface
    • Thanks! Shame you got rid of yours. Guys are getting insane power out of them with the newer turbos these days instead of the venerable K04. Just jumped on Carsales and realised that my old Flog is considered low mileage due to it being parked up for close to a decade.
    • I love this. I still have a special place in my heart for Mk4's.
    • Yep, don't play much so I'd possibly catch it in the weekend.
