Custom Stainless Exhausts

i guess that idea should require some investigation......hhhmmmm i like the sound of that

Sweet man, if you come up with something i'm in for sure.

I'd want mine all in Stainless as i intend to ceramic coat the inside for extra insulation. A perspex lid = rice.

If you could also incorporate the radiator over flow bottle into the side of the box that would be awesome but not essential.

i reckon there would be plenty of ppl chasing these for there R32 Gtrs.

cheers

Paul

kermit drew me up a quote for custom stainless intake piping on my 32GTR. Front of turbos only, 2 pipes, 5 bends I think and I have a D-Jetro ECU so the AFM's don't desexify the polished piping

Will post pics when done, probably next year now. Sounds like you have a lot of work coming your way as it is Mark.

Hey Kermit,

have you considered making stainless steel Cold Air Intake boxs? There is not alot available for a BNR32 only really the ARC box. These are like 500 bucks, if i gotta pay that much i'd prefer it to be in polished stainless.

All i reaaly want is a box that fits the front corner of my GTR with a flange on the inside to mount a pod, a flange on the outside to mount the intake pipe and a pipe out the bottom to suck in cold air from outside the engine bay.

cheers

Paul

I want one of these! big enough to fit 2 pods for the rb26 would be sweet! sounds like there is plenty of interest.

i just need a stainless front pipe now , will get some hks dumps

how much for gtr 2 into 1 front pipe fitted ?

get full custom mate, if u get custom pipes then the wastegate pipe can be a lot longer than it will be on just a dump pipe, this means less turbulence and more efficiency

Debatable - I don't see a flange-joint adding turbulence? :P

its not the joint.

if you have seperate dump(s), the wastegate(s) usually joins back into the exhaust after about 100mm or so..

whereas if you have a custom front/dump pipe made up, you can have the wastegate(s) join back into the exhaust alot further down, usually into the back of the bend in the front pipe.

we have a winner :)

Re-joining wastegates further down better?

So adding gases further down causing turbulence further down the exhaust pipe, would create a buildup of backpressure in a larger portion of the exhaust (not just the first 100mm or so)

IF it made any positive difference at all, which I doubt. The difference would be minuscule. Why not run two exhausts to the rear of the car then?

Like I said, debatable.

There's been lots of discussion on split dumps vs widemouth dumps, and lenght of split on here.

Results that have been posted and technical discussion lend favour to longer lenght of split before rejoin for better results.

That's with gtst and gtt dumps, but theory should hold true for gtr's as well.

james.

those trust gtr dumps are sexy as though...

I think the point is to reintroduce the flow from the wastegate at a more appropriate point and in a more appropriate manner so as to reduce turbulence i.e. after the turbine gasses have settled themselves down and at an appropriate angle. Of course this is all a compromise as the ideal solution is a screamer pipe :(

LOL you wanna do the same thing as my bunky spare exhaust! 3.75" from turbo with no cat, muffler or resinator. I actually got pulled over last Wednesday night. Cops went over my whole car, and didn't sticker me until he smashed his shin on the pipe hanging about 20cm out the back ;) although, my mates a cop and went over my car and said he picked 22 things in the dark! Gotta love bunky drift shitbox's :D
