After watching Casino Royale last night (which was pretty damn good), the thought entered my mind. Who is cooler... Bond or Bauer?

I'm talking about Jack Bauer from CTU in 24.

There are defiantly pros and cons to both characters but similarities include:

  • Both are uber super agents
  • Both work for their government on crap salaries (or so you'd imagine)
  • Both have the same initals
  • They both can withstand more pain than any other living human being
  • They've both died numerous times on the job (without claiming Workcover)
  • They both kick ass and don't bother taking names
  • They both can legally kill people without any apparent reason
  • Their governments conveniently deny their existence when it suits them

I can't be bothered going through their cons coz it;s too hard to find holes in who they are.

So who is your choice and why?

I saw it last night too, knox vmax rocks btw!!!! I thought it was pretty shit though in comparison to the last few. there were bugger all gadgets, the car was in it for like 30seconds, the storyline and background on the bad guys was weak as and the new james sucks ass......That bad blonde chick though... :(

as for the original question bond rocks!

Bond for my money. Saw Casino Royale yesterday, best Bond movie in ages. I had my doubts about Daniel Craig as Bond but he is awesome, no more Brosnan crap! Back to basics was cool I reckon, very few gadgets, no Q, no Bond Theme music ( till right near the end )..... the move was better for it.

Bauer doesn't sleep and doesn't sleep with hot chicks in general which has always made me wonder if he was gay

Bond..sleeps alot, usually with hot chicks & always chasing hot chicks..I doubt he is gay.

Overall octopussy for the win.

    • This. The R34 handbrake icon DOES come up when the brake fluid level is low. You might be sitting right on that threshhold. I have been down this diagnosis path and this was the solution (and it was pretty much as full as your picture is to begin with).
    • Unfortunately the cavaet to that is that while any scan tool should be able to read the code, the workshop will need a consult plug to OBD socket adapter. You don't have a location on your profile, where are you based?
    • @Haggerty this is your red flag. In MAP based ECU's the Manifold pressure X RPM calculation is how the engine knows it is actually...running/going through ANY load. You are confusing the term 'base map' with your base VE/Fuel table. When most people say 'base map' they mean the stock entire tune shipped with the ECU, hopefully aimed at a specific car/setup to use as a base for beginning to tune your specific car. Haltech has a lot of documentation (or at least they used to, I expect it to be better now). Read it voraciously.
    • I saw you mention this earlier and it raised a red flag, but I couldn't believe it was real. Yes, the vacuum signal should vary. It is the one and only load signal from the engine to the ECU, and it MUST vary. It is either not connected or is badly f**ked up in some way.
    • @Haggerty you still haven't answered my question.  Many things you are saying do not make sense for someone who can tune, yet I would not expect someone who cannot tune to be playing with the things in the ECU that you are.  This process would be a lot quicker to figure out if we can remove user error from the equation.
