yeah we need a kick arse international standard race track in aus. something like fuji speedway (facility wise, not neccisarily track wise) in aus would float my boat.

Just send them all to Bathurst, tell all the bogans the cars have V8's and they will love it! The cars will be up to about 400km/h by the end of Conrod.

Yeah great idea. 2 hours of racing which would include atleast an hour and a half of safety cars. Plus there would be exactly zero chance that the Bathurst circuit would be able to be certified to run a GP.

The only circuits worthy would be Adelaide & PI.

It is a shame that the money poured into Albert Park every year can't be put somewhere that could use it for the remainder of the year. Still anyone old enough to remember the "international" circuit at Sandown - remember the Group C race in the eighties? - may conclude it isn't worth the risk...

Hey mate, don't take me so seriously, it was said tongue on cheeck.

i went to the GP a couple of years ago, just before they introduced the V8 engine rule, and i drove past an advertising billboard in a bus stop, which said "Now this is a real V8 Supercar" and had a picture of the Toyota F1 car of the time. it was so funny....

i guess you had to be there... :P

Warning: Read the warnings.

Just a quick warning to anyone wanting to look at the new Renault livery.

Make sure you breakfast/lunch/dinner is well settled before trying this.

You have been warned.

haha agreed... terrible.

If you dont want spluttering diarrhea,i suggest you dont look at it. I know i couldnt control my bowles after viewing the car.

I dont mind it...but the Honda looks the biz. Shame its not the colours they will run the first GP in

Hopefully it will last longer than it did today, where the thing broke down on the first lap it did.:cheers:

I just noticed how much the RB3 looks like the Mclaren... a blend between the MP4-20 and 22

Seems like Newey has a distinctive style about his aerodynamics. My vote for one of the best designs on the grid, especially with that long sleek nose it has. They have to be competative this year, it'd be impossible for them not to be...

Newey or computer that does all the computational fluid dynamics on the car before it even gets near the wind tunnel? Fom what I understand Newey's genious (& from all accounts he does have a brain the size of a planet) is as much in packaging the car together as in aero.

true but... its obvious to any armchair professinal like you and i, to see that the sidepod air intakes of both cars are very very similar, even the geometry of both front and rear wings is strikingly similar.

Also the deisgn of the rear end (excluding the chimny's) looks pinched. But as you said thats probably because Newey has used a similar method of thinking and packaging techniques for both... lol and not that you can really 'pinch' your own design

what are you saying? the renault looks like a dogs breakfast?? no way mate. i think its pretty damned slick. I especially liked how they bought back the colour scheme from the 90's renaults on the nose..reminded me of the fw14b. although i will say that last years renault was much prettier.

Lenovo signing with williams was a surprise and a great move by a shrewd operator. Thats a vault full of chinese yuan to dip into! Alonso is being forced to fit the "Dennis" mould. How well do you think it would go down if he still had his flowing locks at McLaren? not too well i think. personally i think he looks terrible with a buzz cut. But thems the breaks..apparantly Dennis is keeping em well away from booze and beatches in light of Raikkonens past drunken debauched antics. poor bastards.

try telling that to david couthard. and for the record i agree Webbo will send him into retirement this year. DC's had a good run but its time for Webbo to step up and take the leaders mantle.

Just so you guys know i was at Suzuka last year and had the privelage of meeting most of these guys. i had a quite a chat with Mark. Hes really as down to earth as he looks. I met Michael and he took a few minutes out to stop and chat to me. At one point he told me i talk too much but was till nice enough to sign something and have a few pics. He thought the design of my S4 nikon was cool. Ralf was definitely the more approachable of the two. He seemed much more relaxed than Michael.

Alonso stopped for a minute and signed my cap and shirt. I was decked out in Renault gear, but one of the highlights was sitting in the log cabin with a pissed John Button ( jensons dad ), A chatty wine drinking Fischella, and a gorgeous canadian underwear model until 1 am!

top stuff. The british journos there were a bunch of rude, but piss funny , jackasses.

another nice thing was being invited into the red bull motorhome by Gerhard Berger, a man who i have immense respect for, to have a drink, a snack and a bit of a chat.

i got photos of all this so when i have time ill show you what this ex pat managed to achieve..

what blew me away most, was that i got to meet schuie 1 RACE before his retirement. I couldnt believe how fortunate i was and im a guy who came from Adelaide and watched GP's all his life and i NEVER ONCE got that close!

Japans great for so many different reasons.

ill post pics soon.

    • I've looked up the parts number (41011AL501). It's around $700 OEM. Usually our Infiniti G35 here in Canada have interchangeable parts with my Stagea but the parts number are not the same. I have looked around and it seems the JDM 2005 V35 Skyline (which is the same as our G35) has the same caliper but I cannot confirm. And I can't find a repair kit. The inner brake pads drags on the rotor, seems to be rusty piston. Thanks for the info by the way
    • This coupled with 6-9 speed autos with ridiculously short gearing is why these modern shitbox cars always seem so fast off the line. If it wasn't for those things, Raptors would not seem fast. The problem we have is there is a driveability gap between a more gentle take off and a wheelspinning sideways launch. The difference between ankle flex required to achieve one and ankle flex required to achieve the other is about 0.5°.
    • Yeah I think I'm also with the opposite here. It's 'hard to keep up with traffic' because in the real world I'm accelerating with 15% throttle and they are pinning it. It feels like I'm being an overt dickhead at anything above 15% throttle, so the car sounds like I'm being an overt dickhead to keep up with/get ahead of traffic when I'm really just trying to drive with traffic. There would be no issue 'keeping up with traffic' if we used the same level of throttle input/aggression to drive around. People really do just drive around with their foot nearly pinned in econoboxes.
    • To be fair it's the other way around. 300kw is boring in a modern Golf or BMW. They are so competent / well-engineered / devoid of emotion that you have to go stupid fast to feel anything. Whereas the <300kw RB still makes all the right noises and it feels good to drive. Can pull off at the lights with the turbo whooshing and the blow-off pssshing and feel like the coolest kid on the block. Just don't look to the side where you'll see the bored housewifes in their shitbox Yaris/Corolla/Camry that kept up because you didn't go fast at all
    • 300kW is so boring in a Skyline, you'll get spanked by someone's mum's Golf with Alibaba pipes, and an email tune.
