Hey: My GTS-T has 'Zorst, 'cooler & PowerFC but that's it . . . . . If I bolt on my R-Compounds, I'd get FLOGGED in modified! (180rwkw just doesn't cut it nowadays!)

I like Scotsmans point about the tires, you can make as much power as you want but you will still have to put it to the ground through street tires... and with the fuel system restrictions just means that nobody will be running 300rwkw in standard class and making up too much time on the straights...

and lets face it if you really wanted to cheat you could... but it would be kind of weird... and a little tragic

I also noticed you've wrote that the PI round cant be your first track day...is that still true? I was wanting to do DT at that event for my first time out on the track in my 33. Do you mean it cant be your first track day if you choose NOT to do DT?

But I just BOUGHT R-Compounds ! ! ! ! :D

I think they're worth as much time per lap as 70->100kw anyway, especially at P.I. where you're already wound-up pretty quick onto 2 of the 3 straights.

Sandown is all about the POWER though. Jeremy Clarkson would love it !

Oh, and I know that consistency wins championships - I have a Kart club-champion's trophy to prove it!

A quick question for the future, as the most I'll probably be doing this year is driver training later in the year...

How will non-nissans fit into the current classes? We're attracting more and more non-nissans into the club, though I don't know how many do the track days. Will they be considered on a case by case basis on what's "standard" in terms of the mods done?

Until the club grows substantially we will need to fit 'other' vehicles into the existing classes as best we can. If it's on street tyres with less than three fuel system mods then it will be standard. Anything else is modified. All othe mods are essentially free except for full cage's and extreme lightening of a vehicle. (Fibre panels, no interior at all, etc) We will asses each vehicle on it's merits, but we should be able to fit into a reasoably similar class.

(Any of these Mods will put you into modified class)

R Spec Tyres / Slicks under a UTQG rating of 100 tread wear (not including 100)

A Roll Cage

A stripped interior. Removal of rear seats only is allowed.

Any other major weight reduction such as fibreglass doors or perspects windows

Fuel Systems - Either two of Injectors, Fuel Pump or Non Nissan OEM Turbo's.

Non OEM Engine Capacities (GTST with RB26, RB30; GTR with 2.8L, etc)

Sorry to flog this dead horse again but with the fuel system thing are you allowed 2 mods or does 2 mods out of 3 put you in modified. (I have GTR injectors, HKS turbo and standard pump on my GTSt).

i don't want to start any arguements, but a fuel pump upgrade to a bosch 040 in-tank should not be considered as a mod to put you into a higher class.

R32's often have old worn-out fuel pumps that cannot provide sufficient fuel pressure even on stock turbos when checked on the dyno. I changed mine long before i upgraded the turbo and injectors just for peace of mind....

Noted, But you can replace just the pump and this is why we allow this.

We understand that fuel system component wear out, and please let me try to explain why we have done it this way. Ideally we don't want to punish anyone who has worn out fuel system components and has upgraded rather than replaced with standard as would be the case with most of us. Which is why we allow replacement of any one of these items with an upgraded item. We also understand that these mods are often done for safety reasons which again is why we allow this. But our thinking was that to make a lot more power than standard, the fuel delivery system will need to be upgraded at a certain point across the board. So in our minds this was the fairest way to allow some fuel system replacements for old items, but have a cut off point because replacing the lot will allow for a much higher power output.

I have modified the text on the first page in the hope to make it clearer. "Fuel Systems - Any two out of the following four modifications to either: 1.Injectors, 2.Fuel Pump, 3.Non Nissan OEM Turbo's, or 4.A fuel pressure modification will put you into modified class. (I.E - Only one fuel system mod is allowed)"

i guess you guys have thought it all out pretty well.

You need to be a financial member of an affiliated club, such as SAU, and you will need a 'Level 2 Speed' Licence. the forms are on the CAMS site i believe. Im sure that the sandown rounds will have DT too.

    • Yup. You can get creative and make a sort of "bracket" with cable ties. Put 2 around the sender with a third passing underneath them strapped down against the sender. Then that third one is able to be passed through some hole at right angles to the orientation of the sender. Or some variation on the theme. Yes.... ummm, with caveats? I mean, the sender is BSP and you would likely have AN stuff on the hose, so yes, there would be the adapter you mention. But the block end will either be 1/8 NPT if that thread is still OK in there, or you can drill and tap it out to 1/4 BSP or NPT and use appropriate adapter there. As it stands, your mention of 1/8 BSPT male seems... wrong for the 1/8 NPT female it has to go into. The hose will be better, because even with the bush, the mass of the sender will be "hanging" off a hard threaded connection and will add some stress/strain to that. It might fail in the future. The hose eliminates almost all such risk - but adds in several more threaded connections to leak from! It really should be tapered, but it looks very long in that photo with no taper visible. If you have it in hand you should be able to see if it tapered or not. There technically is no possibility of a mechanical seal with a parallel male in a parallel female, so it is hard to believe that it is parallel male, but weirder things have happened. Maybe it's meant to seat on some surface when screwed in on the original installation? Anyway, at that thread size, parallel in parallel, with tape and goop, will seal just fine.
    • How do you propose I cable tie this: To something securely? Is it really just a case of finding a couple of holes and ziptying it there so it never goes flying or starts dangling around, more or less? Then run a 1/8 BSP Female to [hose adapter of choice?/AN?] and then the opposing fitting at the bush-into-oil-block end? being the hose-into-realistically likely a 1/8 BSPT male) Is this going to provide any real benefit over using a stainless/steel 1/4 to 1/8 BSPT reducing bush? I am making the assumption the OEM sender is BSPT not BSPP/BSP
    • I fashioned a ramp out of a couple of pieces of 140x35 lumber, to get the bumper up slightly, and then one of these is what I use
    • I wouldn't worry about dissimilar metal corrosion, should you just buy/make a steel replacement. There will be thread tape and sealant compound between the metals. The few little spots where they touch each other will be deep inside the joint, unable to get wet. And the alloy block is much much larger than a small steel fitting, so there is plenty of "sacrificial" capacity there. Any bush you put in there will be dissimilar anyway. Either steel or brass. Maybe stainless. All of them are different to the other parts in the chain. But what I said above still applies.
    • You are all good then, I didn't realise the port was in a part you can (have!) remove. Just pull the broken part out, clean it and the threads should be fine. Yes, the whole point about remote mounting is it takes almost all of the vibration out via the flexible hose. You just need a convenient chassis point and a cable tie or 3.
