they are nice kit cars - looks like it needs a bit of work - but once its looking mint, expect lots of heads turning.

MR2 engine will def go in nicely....rb25/26 would be better if it can fit and if u can put all the right parts in it - hell, you probalby dont even need a det or dett...just put a de - with 140 odd kws and 600kg it will fly! :P

edit: any interior pics?

Yes i have one interior pic but its with the seats removed and doesnt look that good but i will put it up.I was thinking of going rotary for this car but theres so much work involved so maybe down the line.Yes it does need a lot of restoration but then again i only paid $2500 for it

if its got a beetle motor a wrx engine or an EJ25 will be piss easy to install!

these are cool. use to be one in my area when i was young

I cant drive turbocharged car mate :P P plate restrictions.

Read an old magazine article on these years ago. Apparently the hydraulics failed in one of them and someone was stuck inside the car until they could do something about it. I can't remember the exact circumstances and what happened, but it sort of turned me off them.

Get an EJ20 or EJ25 non turbo then, they're a relatively simple engine to turbo later on if you wish, but even in non turbo form if you trick it up with an exhaust and intake it should have more than ample power to make that thing a ball tearer.

there are a few of them in town.

as for motor, you would need to see if the car has a engine size rating (the biggest motor you can put in that car). this would depend on state, etc.

yeh i think its 1.8L turbo or 2.5L N/A.

    • I am well aware as I did rant at him to buy a MX5, buy the 2.5 before he DIY'ed it, etc as well as do things to the holden. He will obtain a ND. It's the best of both worlds. They look great in person, definitely the best looking one. Just a matter of time now.

    • ouch! how is the car now?I had sold my gtr but have been looking into some on trademe and a 260RS but I wouldnt be keen on any repairs needed on them
    • This sounds like someone who would have owned an R33 in their past... It's okay, I'm 100% picking up what you're putting down Mark.
    • Just back on what was raised about jacking off the the tow/tie down point on the front of cars. I've used it plenty. I've also watched it on a car where you could see it move the front end of the car. It was like the front end/whole car being tweaked and twisted a bit. I will say, I struggle to find good jacking points on MOST cars. The ones that have good points, I then normally struggle to find a jack tall enough to make the car change height!   One of my go to points for either the jack, or the axel stands though, is either a suspension pickup point, OR a subframe to chassis major bolting point. I actually think its the subframe on my R33 that has a bit of a bend in it, from being jacked in the middle too. However, it could have been one of my many other cars I've had over the years! Or it could also be the from me jacking it up, and the fact the top of the front radiator support isn't there, so it can allow the front of the car to move and bend etc.
