cool, so I guess we'll wait to see the constitution, and if there is any provision for it then i guess we'll go to a vote?

but still I don't understand how it was opened up to other applicants?? how does the democratic process normally work? if the president of the US stood down, the vice president would fill his position, but would it then go to a vote? (<-not a rhetorical question). i may have a biased opinion, but it's a reasonable one I think...

Michael - it doesn't work like that. The voting of executive positions closes once the positions are filled. In a circumstance like this, and when I stepped down as Pres back in 2004, there is a requirement for an Extraordinary General Meeting to vote in the new position. There are no reserves or understudies for these roles - to use your analogy, if the President of the US stood down it would be like passing the job onto the person who ran against him at the last election. It needs to be done again - it's just the way things work.

Which leads on to... it might be a good time to host the ol constitution somewhere. It was on the site a while back, but never put back on after a server crash.

Its a forum coding issue.

Dont expect it fixed for a while with Christian having a newborn @ home and so-on.

It doesnt matter, all states are affected.

Access is carried across still, so from that point of view its ok

Question....and this may sound .....stupid....

but why exactly is this going to a vote when there were only 2 people nominated and seconded for the role at the AGM? :blink:

James is 100% correct. Also other members were nominated and suggested but chose not to run because they believed the current nominees were adequate for the role.

I'm going to quote James from the initial election thread...

"Secretary

Responsible for all club mail, notices, memberships, member enquiries, member questions and bulletins.

The secretary should also track our various club affiliation agreements (insurance etc) and ensure all of the club information is up to date and correct.

The secretary should also handle all memberships’ add/changes/deletes"

Oh and maybe we can have the meeting minutes again :wave:

Also I'm of the understanding there needs to be a commitment to attend general meetings, committee meetings and events on a regular basis.

I have re-read the constitution and modified my original post to cater for Section 17 - Voting.

17. Voting:

17.1 At all meetings, i.e. AGM, EGM and GM, every financial Ordinary or Life Member shall be entitled to one vote. In cases of equal voting the Chairperson shall have the casting vote except in elections.

17.2 In the case of equal voting in any election it shall be decided by lots.

17.3 All votes will be of an open nature.

17.4 Ballot papers will be issued with newsletters not less than 10 days prior to voting date.

Unfortunately, as this is a matter of urgency and we are calling an extraordinary general meeting, we, the committee exercise our right to veto the number of days required to hold an EGM due to this being considered as an emergency.

Should any member disagree to this decision, a letter of exception outlining reasons as to why this meeting should not go ahead can submitted to the committee for consideration.

Technically speaking, here are the duties of the Secretary.

24. Duties of Secretary:

24.1 The Secretary shall conduct the correspondence of the Club and subject to the control of the Committee, shall have the custody of all documents belonging to the Club. He or she shall keep full and correct minutes of all proceedings of the Club and of the Committee.

24.2 A register of the members shall be kept by the Secretary and shall contain names, addresses and joining date and any other information deemed relevant by the Secretary. Members shall notify the Secretary of any changes in information contained in the register.

24.3 All notices issued by the club shall be issued by the Secretary.

Pretty much what Kaz has put up but in fancy wording.

So where is my ballot paper then, i checked my mailbox about 3 mins ago and nothing was there :sorcerer:

Point of order, Mr ex-President. Are you seconding both nominees? If so, then I don't believe you can. It is accepted practice that if you nominate or second someone, then you vote for them (why would you not vote for a nominee you clearly, by nominating or seconding, considered a suitable applicant for the position?) Clearly you cannot vote for 2 nominees.

And Kaz will need to be nominated and seconded again. As you said, once the position is filled, game over. This is a new game. Kaz may have decided not to stand - she shouldn't be automatically included in any subsequent ballot simply because she partook in a previous ballot.

Finally - why, if this is for SAU-Vic members only, is it in the general forum member area?

Ash, get back in your box. We know you love the constitution.

Don't loose the plot people, this is a car club not the USA, and the committe is doing the best job we can to make fair for all.

Try to remember to have fun. You'll live longer.

      I've been reading a lot lately about unsprung weight and how beneficial it can be to reduce it for driving on the track, given my semi's only have another day or two in them I am throwing around the idea of some lighter wheels and a square set up. I have 265/35/19's and 245/40(?)/19 Federal 595's at the moment. The wheels and tyres are super heavy. I looked up my wheel weight online and got 14.5kg naked. Not sure if this was 8.5 (front) or 9 (rear) but that's a lot. I have also been reading about the benefits of a square setup. Much better rotation and potentially less understeer.  When I throw these together I'm thinking about a 17x9 or 18x9 square (preferably under 10kgs per wheel) with 245 or 255's. I can get some cheap 17x8.5 BMW M Sport wheels, they weight 10.5 kg's each but at 8.5 wide could probably only get 245's on them? I know they come with 255's from factory but semi's are a bit chunkier. Otherwise it will be aftermarket wheels in a 9" width. Most of the other BMW wheels are heavy unless you pay a squillion dollars for some M wheels.  Although, the E46 M3 Style 67's could be good but I'd have to buy 2 sets to square them up.  My car has a tickle over 400hp and about to put an LSD in also, is 245 a little thin for a square setup? It kinda feels that way to me. Also, is there any tangible benefit to having 18's over 17's? Is the footprint demonstrably bigger? From those of you who went to light(er) wheels after heavy buggers, did you notice it much?

      Start with the R32 GTR wiring diagram. The ECU is essentially the same, so the pinouts are good. The details around ECCS relays, etc might differ a little bit, but the reality is that you need to get ignition power to kick the ECU so it powers up the ECCS relay which brings the rest of the ECU up. This also gives power to the other circuits that are needed to make the engine run, like the ignition coils, etc. All of this is visible on the R32 diagram and should give you a strong guide, even if it's not quite the same as the R33. As to specifics - I'm pretty sure no-one can help you from afar, as there is no way to know what mistake or omission has been made in connecting stuff up. It always turns out to be "LOL, I shorted something and an entire wire vanished out of the loom", or "We never connected X or Y main connector", or "shit, you mean I need to have that fuse installed?".

      hello wanted some insight on what my problem could be so i swapped a RB26DETT into my r33 gtst used a R33 GTR engine harness and im using a haltech platinum pro. The car cranks but no start the ecu isn’t getting any power now im trying to find out why i cant seem to find any schematics  or diagram for the engine harness for the r33 gtr anything helps thank you.
