Thanks for the advice mate. What about Ferodo DS pads? Would they be any kinder?

As far as I know, Bendix do make pads for the skyline. Might get a set just as a back-up if the HPX's dont shut up.

I think your better off working with the HPX. They aren't a squeaky pad. I run them in the daily, and they don't make a peep.

Take them out, clean up all surfaces and give them a rub. Clean shims, and calipers. Then give the bedding in procedure another go.

Thanks Guys. I took out the pads and gave them a file down (see pic of what I found when I took them out). After a quick drive the squeal is still present (very very minor). Will keep alert for the next few days...

If you think the squeal on QFMs are bad? Don't go Bendix...

Okay guys, just reporting back. The squeal is back and its worse then ever. Sudden hard braking makes it worse. Attached is pic of my rotors when i got home. Will now bin these pads because Im just bloody tired now. What is the best pad for the street? (price doesnt matter)

I'm using Bendix HD on my daily R33 and have only heard one little peep first thing on a really cold morning coming down the slope of my driveway.

Have RDA Dimple drilled & slotted discs. Quite happy with them as nowhere near as dusty as I was expecting.

Get some Intima pads, if you're not hitting the track just go Intima SS

I'm using Intima SR, ZERO squeal.. however they do eat rotors as they are more aggressive, the SS ones should do the trick...

here they are:

I had bad brake squeal with the QFM pads I have, I think they are QFM ARM1's

Anyhow, I popped them out and rounded the edges with a file, rather than a chamfer.I did the trailing and leading edges, and it seems to have done the trick. I should have taken some pictures, but its around a 5mm radius.

I only did the rears, as that seemed to be the main source of the noise, but I'll do the fronts next time the rims come off. I didn't really want to change pads, as they perform really well. Prior to rounding the edges, I'd get squeal from around 40kmhr down to a complete stop.

Thumbs up the the QFM pads, and now they are quiet, I'm very happy

Well I get my opens soon so I'll FINALLY be able to drive my 32 legally :)

I have stock brakes & rotors as far as I know and I'm wondering what pads I should go next as I'm pretty sure they're on their last legs

Car will only ever be street driven.

Was thinking MU or QFM. Mainly because they are the only ones I've really herd of.

A point in the right direction would be great.

P.s. car is 32 gtst type M

QFM (my experience)

Good street stopping power on the track, however once they give up they give up, noisy (hectic race car noise) and cheap (my experience)

Intima SR (my experience)

Good stopping power, a little less bite than other pads, will not fade on wakefield with my boat, even after 7 hot laps, quiet, seems to chew rotors & cheap

Bendix Ultimates (my experience)

Big croc of shit, faded after 3 laps of Eastern Creek South circuit. Might as well install drum brakes all round. Noisy, loads of dust, chews rotors.. price wise no idea came with my car.

Project MU HC+ (mate's experience)

Great pad, not too noisy, terrible when dead cold however hold up well on the track - expensive

Sweet man, thanks for that. Looks like QFM for me.

Uhh a really stupid question but when you say "crap when cold", obviously you need to heat them up.. Just by braking more?? :/

Never a stupid question :)

Yes a few jabs of the brake gets them warm. The Intima SR pads are rated from 0 to 700 degrees, however I do find they need a tiny bit of heat to work, the QFM A1RM however don't need that heat and bite when hold.

I find that the QFM A1RM has better bite/feel than the Intima SR, however the QFM squeal like a bush pig and do give up after consecutive hot laps, but for street driving you will NEVER experience any fade.

Cheers again mate. :)

So the QFM A1RM constantly squeal? Or mainly on track, or just when there's no more pad left?

I don't mind a squeal, quite funny watching people move forward when I'm slowing down behind them :P

Pretty sure I'm going the a1rm's. :)

  • 4 weeks later...

Has anyone used QFM Comp 9?

I need pads front/rear for my car (R33 GTS-T calipers).
I was looking at PMu HC+ front and the D1 Spec rear, but it's more money than I would like to spend.
Car is my daily, but with drift days and fun circuit days.

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
