Heya you had an awesome result!!

How come you sold the GTRS?

firstly :yes the result was great, lots of fun awesome acceleration and mid range

secondly:i never made the power figure i wanted,i listened to the white elephant theories.lllol

thirdly:i got to used to the power as it is a every day car and i do a far bit of highway flying .lol

fourthly:i got the price i wanted for the gt-rs kit and my nismo 550cc injectors .

fifthly:i was debating nos kit or 3037 for the last 5 months so i picked 3037 cos i can use it everyday un-like nos.

sixthly:most of my mates have old school v8s that run 11ns and i wanted to at least give them a better run .

sevenly:my mate how has a R32gtr has relit my greed for more power well thats what i told my wife so marko its your fault...thats the story im sticking

Wait for a SAU or club "dyno day"

Just saw this thread for the first time VERY impressive and a nice selection of mods.

I too have a HKS GTRS kit; but running Tomei Poncams, head porting, std plenum and std bottom end. My a/f ratios were kept at approx. 11.5:1, to keep the engine "safe". Running 18psi i made 268.2rwkw, but your response is WAY more impressive. Could be due to the plenum, cams, fmic (i was using a truck core), but most probably to the fresh rebuild.

The engine has since blown, while i was at a race track (cyl #3 dropped compression), and i have decided to build an rb2530, which means upgrading the turbo, again. I guess i will never know what the GTRS's true potential is, but yours demonstrates it clearly. Well done mate, an excellent build and it would feel awesome to drive.

Below is a comparison between our two graphs, you will be happy:

For my new engine i have bought a new GReddy plenum, XTR 100mm fmic, Garrett GT30R turbo 500hp (smallest recommended turbo), ATI balancer and a whole lot of other parts. Unfortunately it takes my mechanic a lot longer than 3 weeks to build an engine, but we'll get there.

All the best and enjoy :D

Damn 11 months since that post and i am only getting the car back this week :)

Car was ready 4 months ago, but had to go back to be rebuilt as the block used had a pin-hole and was weeping oil.

Any built as described in my quoted post: not sure i mentioned rb30det, and using a 70mm core not the 100mm

Note: Dyno graphs for "running in" tune. Once run in car will be tuned properly with an extra 5psi, more aggressive timing, adjustments of the IN and EXH cam gears and 8000rpm rev limit.

damn, that looks awesome Al! Can't wait to see it at a SAU event- you'll have to take me for a spin - i was plently impressed with you previous setup - this ones gonna be a monster!

I've got the GTS4 booked in for cam gears and a retune - but any gains will seem pathetic compared to your's!

Thanks for that.. I might give it a try when i got some time..

hows my toyo t1rs going? lol

Believe it or not, they have just been fitted to the car last week

I am yet to drive with them, but all should be good, read some good reviews on them, before i bought them off you.

Thanks Phil

Next time we meet, i'll take you for a drive mate. It's totally different to the way my rb25det setup delivered power. In the dry, this is more tractable and doesn't tend to kick out violently; unless you want it too :)

Good luck with the re-tune buddy!

Thanks Sly33 & Warlord,

No build-up thread unfortunately.

Can't wait to wind it up myself. You can't see it in the pic, but at the moment i have a direct line from the comp cover to the actuator, no solenoids, restricters or boost controllers. In most setups, this normally makes the power feel doughy or laggy, but i get 1bar of boost by 2800rpm  So once the engine is bedded in we'll be playing around a fair bit with the set-up and extract as much response and power as possible.

Dotted line = Power curve

Solid Line = Boost curve

    • ok so if i wanted to go 18's i would go for 8's  in front 30+ or 32+ off set at front and the back 9 would be ok? what offset should i aim for.. then can i do some  hunting for wheel rim choices..    If i get this - will this fit all around: Size: 18 x 8.5 +37 - n what tyres size tyre should i get for front n back?
    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
