Well, I had no hand in building my car but I sure have pulled it apart and put it back together many times. Poor Duncan has been under my car more than I care to think about.

The car started out as a track day weapon because the wifey told me no more thrashing the Skyline. So a car was needed that was as fast or faster than our GTS-T. 7 grand was the original price but that has blown out ages ago. Lets see what I can remember of just the breakages. 1st motor was crap,,,rebuild lasted no time,,,2nd rebuild was a little better, my god rotors are quick,,time for another one,,,this time on a very limited budget I had better reliability and more power(lots of 2nd hand parts) and now injected. Now I'm going all out with a NEW engine. Ah I forgot 2 gearboxes about 5 axles and a diff that exploded up Bathurst Mountain straight that frightened the living shit out of me.

Neil.

yeah vg - vq runs timing chains.

neil....you need to post up an engine bay pic, its enough to make anyone who has ever worked on a skyline cry about the acres of space. not to mention 1 person/ about an hour to take the gearbox out without hoist

Car's owner doesn't understand all those bendy bits he keeps seeing in your photos. Talk slowly and in words of three syllables or less and he probably won't brain haemorrhage.

Hahaha, Im with him^^ what are corners??

Will you be ready for jambo mate? My rings and bearings arrived from america yesterday... .25 oversized instead of standard... FARKING STUPID IDIOTS! ah well rather then cry the crank will now be ground to suit... otherwise there will be no jambo for me...

Love the old ZED!!!

What do you do after you take the car off the road for close to 12 months tidying up the bodywork? Well you go to Sandown and get it wrong and end up doing this :)

That was quick :D

Bloody hell with all these flash paint jobs on race cars i gunna have to throw a coat or two of jam onto my old girl.

try as i might i can find a good pic of the old girl lol if you look close you can still see the gel coat on the bonnet. Still it has cost only 13k to date with new turbos and brakes and radiators and and and......

Whats happening with you mate. No money I except???.

g'day neil

mate the last time my rb30det ran was jan 06. the shell has been sold and the donk is now in a hr31 coupe. as of tomorrow's payday i am 100% debt free. all money from hereon in will be sent towards car. last week picked up my jcc widebody kit from powerplay (cost me the same price as what the entire car cost me. stupidity, but what the heck). same kit as on this jap group a hr31 ive uploaded

ive stripped the coupe, then it goes to be caged, kit fitted and painted up.then cams log book then swapped to race/rally rego.

then i'm back in the game. just fun track days, some drag days, and hopefully my aim is joining you on the hillclimb meets

cheers, mark

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.
    • My Nismo 1.5 churps a bit on reverse turns when cold, but besides that feels like a stock diff.
    • Yes, but, I paid cash and I'm pretty sure the receipt was in the bin 10 minutes after I got home Note to self, keep all receipts
    • Bunnings would have just handed you your money back on that one!
    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
