What's going in that monster? Looks tough.

was going to be stroked windsor 351 - 427 with twin T04Z's but we have been approached by a certain manufacturer to build something else, so i'll let you know the minute its settled.

can't wait to see your thing rumbleing along stu. it will definitely rock.

haha, thanks for the warm welcome guys. my journey to the dark side is complete.

the guys in the drag section were getting confused when i started doing susupension & brake upgrades.

at least you guys understand whats going on.

Good to see the sig has been updated acordingly.

'Drain, I took him to watch some circuit racing on the weekend..........Conversion complete.

can we change the thread title to "drag setup/circuit setup conversion" ?

I see whatever you happen to have is contagious, Jase.

Shame. Stu was such a good bloke once upon a time, too!

:D

noooooooooo, have you seen him drive?

It's ok Adrian, there is still time to swap the auto back to a manual and since you haven't tubbed it yet, we can still get it to handle around a corner mate :ninja:

have been looking at intake manifolds for a while, the Harrop item was looking like the go

but after some research it was found that it would be difficult to adapt different length ram tubes to it as it was designed to fit in the commodore and this is not an option due to bonnet height etc. harrop was also very difficult to get in contact with as they do not return faxes or email. obviously dont want to sell any.

Came across another Australian made intake, well priced and is designed for interchanging ram tubes. i also know the guy who spins them up so can get a few sets made. once car is back on the ground and engine fitted im hoping to get one of these babies.

it depends on those that are doing stuff for me, example wiring, exhaust. i could have it together in a couple of days.

but still no cylinder heads. also waiting for a few front suspension bushes, so probably a month off.

when do you think you will have it ready to run?

recieved the best news ever today, my cylinder heads are ready. measured piston to cylinder head clearance and found we have to run a slightly thicker head gasket. cc'd the head and worked out comp will be around 11:1 if we deck 20thou of the head while still maintaining 80 thou piston to valve clearance. should have everything ready for assembly tomorro night.

Sounds like excellent news!

11:1 is a good compression ratio, a little higher than original...

Cant wait to see/hear a video of the engine roaring...

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
