Today I was unfortunate Enough to be caught out in that crazy storm and flash floods, and I assuming quite a few other members would have been to. I was in one of the Areas that was Copped it the worst, that being Highhett/Clayton. Now I just wanted to know how bad it is to be driving in flood water thats almost up to bonnet when u have a turbo car? I would have taken loads into the Intercooler, which i imagine couldnt be healthy for the car. after the rain cleared and i was on open road, I noticed the car blurting and jerking when i stomped it in second gear. should i get this checked out immediatly or just chill?

P.S Missing.. a front wheel arch guard, last seen floating down Nepean Hwy. PM if found.

Why would it have taken water into the cooler? They are sealed dude...

Air-to-air coolers use air to cool the air INSIDE. Therefore sealed :whistling:

If the piping wasnt sealed, you'd have a leak and boost drop issues, and notice it long before it filled with water in everyday life.

know what shits me the most ever?

those people that have a sticker/spare tyre cover that says "my other car is a boat"

a car is not a boat. a boat is a boat. a car is a car.

lol.... the 49% bitch 51% angel, dont push me stickers annoy me more

have you got any sort of cold air intake that could have sucked the water up?

speaking of which...how likely is it that your pod would suck in water if you've got a cold air intake pipe running up to the hole where the factory 'cold' cooler pipe would usually be?

after driving in some heavy rain lately, i had a look and found a small amount of water pooled up in that area. i didnt think it would actually get sucked up into the pod, its a good few inches away.

+1 on pod suckin up water if you have one. check you coils and electrics. see how the car runs the next couple days.

a couple years ago i drove through a flooded patch at the glen on springy rd in the parents new corolla. blind leading the blind..ha thought id be right untill the water started going over the bonnet..ha. water got into the headlights...there was some wierd corossive looking foamy pink stuff surrounding the coolant/radiator. will never ever drive through a flooded patch of road again even though others will.

Unless you had a prior leak somewhere else the only place i can think you'd get water is through the pod.

Similar thing happened to me with the Commodore a while back (spluttering and coughing), just drove it easy for a bit and the water will work its way through....

The only other thing could be some sort of elec damage....

I drove home in the worst of it ystrday in the aaah, love the traction BUT, the windscreen wipers are too damn slow, couldnt see shit, ima have to put some new motors in or something, these suck ass!

Also wish i had taken the rolla in, that thing loooves the puddles (well.. i make it love them)

    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
