Its probably a lot more modified then yours and i probably know a lot more about them then you so don't give me smart ass comments like that!

Yeah your e-wang is damn huge aint it! Your so rich your car is so much more modified than mine even though you've never seen mine and that your so much smarter than me even though you have never met me! and I didnt start the smart ass comment - I didnt over-exaggerate saying a turbo kicks in at 5500revs!

It's just im not the type of person that says ohh a Ferrrari Modena is a crap car because my skyline does a 1/4 mile time quicker then it by 0.3 seconds and has 20 more HP then it or some crap.

Nah you didnt say a Ferrari Modena is crap did ya... but you did say a Skyline is crap because a Holden V8 doesnt need to rev out to 5500rpm for the turbo to kick in therefore trying to say Skyline is crap V8 pwns all yadida

And what are u comparing anyway a 4 door SS commodore to a 2 door AWD GTR? Yeah fair enough the GTR will out handle it hands down. Lets flip the coin however, how about comparing a 4 door skyline to a 2 door Monaro, i can gaurantee the monaro will outhandle it. So if your going to give out such great advise how about you specify what your talking about instead of being a smart ass b*tch.

What are YOU comparing? Compare it year for year a Monaro would be approximate year to an R34... R34 GTT vs Monaro CV6... R34 GTR vs Monaro CV8.

So if your going to give out such great advise how about you specify what your talking about instead of being a smart ass b*tch.

Thats quite a guarentee you have there mate. Any idea on what you would be backing it up with? Driven similar modded versions of both? For somebody jumping at others you dont seam to be very well grounded

Nice, e-wang, you must be very smart to think of that one. So your saying a 500rwkw skyline is going to be responsive..... if a standard displacement Rb25 with 500rwkw came onto boost (talking about like decent boost, not 1-2psi) much before 5000rpm id be very suprised, so i dont think i was exegarating that much.

Ummm i actually never said anything like that but yeah ok then..

Monaro brand new $60,000ish, R34 GTR over $100,000 good comparison, lets start comparing a 1995 Totoya Corolla to a 1995 BMW, they were made in the same year so they must be in the same category ay!

The CV8 isnt even good enough to compare to the r34 gtr.

I got that wheels magazine with the R34 GTR V-Spec N1 vs HSV GTS Coupe.

HSV has more power, HSV has more torque.

The hsv is slower 0 -100 and slower across the quarter mile.

All they do is make the car heavier, put in a massive engine and thats it.

The "300kw" coupe does the quarter mile in 13.9 seconds... wtf

Whilst the skyline did it in 12.7

But when you start modding its all a different story

wow!

not bad for a commonwhore!

that would be an insane ride with holden shitty chassis :)

I garuntee you that the commodore chassis is stronger and has more torsional stiffness than any skyline.

Must be a pretty crappy modified skyline to need to be rev'd to 5500rpm to come onto boost!

I too can exaggerate! I can guarantee that the 500kw skyline will outhandle the LS1... oh wait its not much of an exaggeration. :)

Oh btw Holden LS1 forum is that way. Bye! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->

none of u lot are car enthusisits are u, ure all just banner wavers u jump up n down raving wats better holden nissan ra ra ra ra,, how hard is it to appreciate both cars for the awsome beats the are, n both cars have there good n bad sides..... n ppl who modify there holdens love there cars just as much as u skyline owners do, so why is it so hard to apprectate that fact... u should all be greatful we live in a day n age where were lucky enough to choose wat we want........ so every grow up

people who think a cars shit and wont be budged just because of the badge it has on the grille usually arent the type who know much about cars.

im not a holden fan.. but still think they have awesome cars with awesome potential. have to appreciate the badassness of a LS1.

oh and holden gives the australian market what they want.. how many people who buy HSVs or the like actually drive their cars hard enough to notice differences in suspension geometry? go to track days? ect

Its called General Automotive Discussion? NO WAY! LIAR.

Just a small point. Have any of the people bagging the VE Commodore ever actually driven one? I've driven a dozen different models from the lowliest Omega through to the Clubsport and Maloo and the chassis and handling are both bloody great for an Aussie built car.

Im glad you have this bit in here.

Aussie built cars for Aussie built roads , makes sense to me..

I read that Wheels article on the boss 370 (somewhere around there) kw Flacon and then looked at the times, sometihng like 0-100 6.1 , 1/4 mile 14.xx (im sure someone will correct me there) is it just me or are Ford struggling to make fast cars.

I've taken a few around myself.

I thought the brakes and suspension on the sporty versions of the VE's are quite good for the size vehicle. They aren't bad at all for a family car.

Anyway on topic I think 422kw is a good thing in a ute. I say lets take the sideway in the driveway. In the words of Tim Allen " What this thing needs is more power!" :/

id never buy a holden,i've seen how the workers drive them.

Enough said.

I am with you.

I would rather buy an import thats had the living shit flogged out of it in Japan and when they decide to sell it, have that car imported to Australia where once again its flogged on the docks and had parts stolen from it. I would also like it if it didnt have any service history at all and has been involved in an accident. Who needs a warranty these days too!

LoL i dont think they'd bother with an auto.

I cant believe the arrogancy of some f**k wits on here, which is why I have never attended a cruise and probably won't.

This bloke is spot on... People cant be open enough to accept that some cars are built for different reasons. Holden have built a car that most of the Australian market WHO APPEAL to these kind of cars like, hence being one of the highest sellers. I use to own a VX SS M6 and the handling of this car was awesome. With a set of aftermarket springs & shocks it handled good enough for anyone. Who gives a shit if a Skyline handles a little better on the track? Can you really use it on the road?? It goes around corners a bit quicker so that AUTOMATICALLY means its a better car?

I dont think many people have read the article for this particular ute. It ran its quarter at 111mph. It also has over 700nm of torque. Trying to keep this power to the ground in a ute whilst running a good time would be next to impossible.

what IM saying is if your a holden fan, Brag on about HOLDEN ENGINES

Dont sit there telling me how your HOLDEN is so F'ing awesome with its CHEV ENGINE.

Seriously,,,it aint rocket science.

LOL thats being a bit picky.

Its like saying you cant say your Aston Martin is awesome because it has many items fitted that are genuine Volvo parts?

    • So stock ECU does not like anything above 10 psi?  That Nistune one is just for "try" if it will be any different, I know it need to be tune for that. I know but YOU may know about these problem but i/we dont. They few little Skylines here let alone people who know anything about tham so that is why iam asking here
    • So now we have a radiator with no attachments whatsoever. It lifts up with a particularly tight spot between the drivers side air box mount and the lower radiator outlet, but if you've got this far you will sort that too. This is the lower mounts with the rad out so you can see where the rubber bushes go, it is a straight shot upwards Done! Assembly is the reverse of disassembly, with blood less likely to be shed.
    • Right, onto the second last trick. The Air Con condenser is mounted to the front of the radiator and stays in the car when the radiator is removed. There are 2x 10mm headed self tappers holding the top of the condenser to the radiator, remove those The bottom of the condenser is attached to the radiator with clips. You need to lift the condenser out of those clips and clear (up, then forward). f**ked if  could work out how to do that last bit with the front bumper on. I hope you can, and you share the trick.  Bumper removal probably deserves its own thread one day once I've recovered the will to live, but basically you need to remove the wheels, front inner guard liners (clips and 10mm headed bolts), the self tapper between the guard and the bumper at the rearmost point of the bumper (same as an R32 that bit), any remaining clips at the top/front of the grill, an absolute bastard design with a plate that holds the top of the bumper above the headlight each side (only 1 bolt which is tricky to get to, but the plate catches 2 places on the bumper and must be removed....carefully!) and push clips between the bumper and guard under the headlight. If you've done all that you will be faced with wiring for the fog lights on both sides and in ADM Q50 RS at least, 4 nasty tight plugs on the driver's side for the ADAS stuff. So, the clips at the bottom look like this on drivers side (looking from the front) And on the passenger side (also from the front), you can see this one is already out Clearance on both of these are super tight; the condenser needs to move up but the upper rad support mount prevents that, and the radiator can't move down far because it is (rubber) mounted. Once you achieve the impossible and drop the condenser off those mounts so it does not stop the rad moving, you are good to go
    • OK, next the shroud needs to come off and there are a couple of tricks. Firstly, there is a loom from near the passenger side headlight to the fans, coolant temp sensor etc and there is no plug to undo.  In my case I was OK to leave the shroud on top of the engine so I just undid the passenger side fan plug and about 10 of the clips which gave enough free wire to put it aside. The fan plugs were super tight, the trick I used was a small falt screwdriver to push down on the release tab, then a larger flat screwdriver to lever the plug out of the fan unit....be careful with how much force you apply! If you need to remove the shroud altogether for some reason you will have to deal with all the plugs (tight) and clips (brittle)....good luck. I removed all of the clips and replaced them with cable ties that I will just cut next time. Also, in the Red Sport / 400R at least, the intake heat exchanger reservoir hose is bolted to the shroud in 2 places with 10mm headed bolts; so remove them (the hose stays in the car; no need to undo it at the t fittings down at the radiator lower mount. Once you've dealt with the HX hose and the wiring loom, there are 3x 10mm headed self tappers holding the top of the shroud to the radiator; remove those.   The shroud then lifts out of the bottom mounts where it sits on the radiator, up and onto the engine out of the way. Simples
    • Ok, disregard my “rate them” comment, sorry for my unrealistic input
