Why do it? I dont get it!!

Is there some sort of Japanesse fad to do this that we hooked onto and thought yep, i need to wreck my car like those guys?

STOP IT! If you have removed it put it back on, if your mate has removed his, gently take him aside and advise him to put it back on.

sorry for the rant.

I feel like shooting these people, When i bought my GTR From Japan it was Wingless , i wouldnt drive it unless it had a Wing ;) Good Topic man..

I just bought one the other day and I couldnt believe how heavy it is ;)

GTS-T's I think look good if its pulled off right but I havent seen a GTR that looks good without one unless it has the lip.

Each to their own though :D

totally agree with the person who started this thread

sometimes being different or unique isn't the best thing. emo's are different, but they sure as hell aren't a good thing!

in my eyes, removing the GTR spoiler is like taking the icing off a chocolate cake. the underneath is good, but withut the icing its just not the same thing.

if you want to save weight then i assume that you also run a gutted boot and no rear seats. also, whats the point of a rear bumper when you're at the strip? or that passneger seat?

give me a break, the "saving weight" argument is flawed..

I'm with you. The car was designed with that aero piece. Why did you buy a well sorted sports car and then decide to ruin the way it drives?

If you want a car for its looks and don't care how it drives, stick to Celicas and Preludes (or Hyundai Coupes and Integras now).

just to make things clear, i wasnt referring to the weight saving, but the aerodynamic improvement. i remember reading about a drag car in japan, it was fast, like in the 9sec bracket, and from memory it had an adjustable spoiler, not unlike the factory one, and when changing from full downforce, to none at all, made nearly 1 full second difference, so removing the stock one would make a difference, maybe not that much but its a free gain isnt it

er i think people have the freedom to do what they want with THEIR cars... you might think it looks shit but they might think it looks awesome...

i sometimes removed mine, got over the look and put it back on for a few months, then removed it again.. sold it with it removed..

they are pretty heavy and prob make f**k all difference under 100kmh

I am with you on that one. It just dont look right...As for weight...heavy ?? try beefing up your arms you skinny weasels out there. I hate to see such a classic butchered...but not quite as dumb as people who put ridiculous 20" + heavy chrome wheels and 200kg of hi fi into a sports car...thats really dumb

my 32 gtst had a gtr wing and other gtr bits, i removed it because ppl always thought it was a gtr n they would get all exited and say to there mates that they beat a gtr, i think some look good with and some look good without, all mine was probaly good for was to hang ya wet clothes off and thed be dry by the time you got too work :P

Yes but going up and down a drag strip doesn't really require much in the way of grip, too bad if he needed to take a 240km/ph sweeper with the rear wing removed....

lol its ok to take a wing off but its not cool to have the holes left behind when the wings taken off.... if ur gonna take it off get ur boot bogged n resprayed so theres no holes....

wing off wing on its still a skyline so its all good IMO

Why do people put on ugly ass kits on skylines? Cause they want to! Who cares what other people do to their cars. If it looks like ass, it'll just make your car look better.

Good call, massive stereos, butt ugly body kits, crap rims, no spoiler or massive wang.......yard to swallow at times but you don't have to ride around in it so why care? Some people also like wearing white shoes but It doesn't make me want to belt them (most of the time) :P

    • Nah, they'll do it without a receipt, tell em roughly when it was, that it was cash, youll likely only get store credit, but that gets you some dollars towards the newer better shovel, or other item you need/want later.   Still take it back and have a crack at returning it.
    • Nah. Was just wondering if you were having a small stroke or if there was some slur/gaf/inside joke that I wasn't aware of.
    • That was a fark up, it's Salamanca Place I was thinking of. And now I'm curious as to what potential slur/gaf I have caused with Salamander Road, ha ha!
    • Actually everyone on the roads was really well behaved. The only person that did any minor tailgating was a local hoon in a Turbo Focus. Unfortunately we weren't going the same way so there was no grand initial D touge battle. Lots of people pulled over and let me through. The amount of "Hey man nice car, omg skyline, nice 34 man woo" was suprising. Like really suprising. Like almost annoying. My partner was obviously surprised, she'd never seen anyone in the real world point out the car/like the car/want to chat about the car before, so to have like 3 people per day mention it was notable, I could finally say SEE? SOMEONE THINKS THEY'RE COOL. Everyone was also pretty suprised about the weather. Every day was dry and about ~13-14C. Mount Wellington had a sign that said they close the gates at 9pm and I was heading up there at about ~7:30. It was VERY apparent that conditions were getting significantly worse by the minute on the way up and down. The road on the mountain was terrible though, it's no driving road. I have various suspension related questions now. Luckily it was only about 20 minutes from where we were staying to the top of the mountain as said Google maps. We only had the 2 nights in Hobart. We went to the Farm Gate Market though which was really good - And went down to the Hastings Thermal springs/caves down there during the day. I'd definitely be up for going back again, so luckily there's a few more sights yet to see. Didn't get to do the west coast/queenstown/cradle mountain so this was supposed to be a 'scouting' trip anyway of sorts if I were to one day do/take part in/organize a more car-focused trip. As for the boat, it wasn't bad. Well it was bad, but not in the way you're thinking. We did the night trip which leaves at 6:45 (though you have to be there ~2 hours earlier) and arrives the next morning at about 6am. There is nothing to do on the ship. If you plan accordingly and bring a book/tablet/show to watch/charger you can just chill out, take some Travacalm and just sleep through it. The food there is an extremely basic buffet that costs $32 a plate, or $14 for a $3 pizza. The way back we had a travel kettle and a few different types of cup noodles and made our own tea/coffee in the room. This was a far superior way to do it. At the very least book one of the rooms with beds. I guess as we were in the off season we didn't have room mates. You get an option for rooms with 4 beds (2x bunks) or a room with just the two bottom beds. There's also some option for a deluxe queen bed but it's much pricer. We've been on sleeper trains in Asia before so we figured this is similar (and it was)
