Oh good stuff richard!! love your work!! i'm glad someone is doing it!

i'm looking forward to when i actually start making the big bucks to buy one of these! so hopefully in a year or two i'll come talk to you about it!

Yeah it is good and all but the prices being discussed are still around $165K (for the Premium) by the time everything is done, and given that is around the same price that Nissan Australia is talking about it's a massive risk to lose the warrinty etc just for the sake of getting one of these cars a couple of month earlier.

Unless the savings were so huge that the costs could possibly out-weigh anything you'd save on a possible warrinty claim I just can't justify not waiting for the local delivered models.

There are a couple of things to consider.

1: The prospect (or reality) of SEVS R35 imports will to an extent put some price pressure on Nissan. Which will hopefully stop them from asking the kinds of stupid money they did for the R32's.

2: Once a reasonable number of R35's are built in Japan the premium they are asking on places such as Yahoo will vanish & the pricing will become much more reasonable. Ultimately an '07 R35 will become the latter day equivalent of an '89 R32 - ie something for the keyboard warriors (In all their ignorance) to sneer at. :D

yep snowy is right. anyone importing and complying one this year wont be looking at a huge saving (but there will be some saving). It will really come into gear next year. in 2009 the 07 and 08 models will have fallen in value quite a bit in japan and they will become a much cheaper option than buying here. getting compliance for R35 is pretty risky which is why I can't foresee many other people putting in the work and money to gain compliance for it, but I could be wrong.

anyway, I will be sure to let people know when we are done. it's still very exciting :D

For question 9 of the application (Are the vehicles to be supplied used?) I'm assuming you answered yes?

So basically this opens a window of oportunity exactly like the S15's, where at the time, it was cheaper to buy thru nissan than to import, but now, its way cheaper to import than to buy locally.

well straight off the bat it means that people who want the black edition can now own one, instead of being shafted with Nissan Au's "one model only" policy.

well since the cat is out of the bag I might as well give up the news. Yes the R35 has been added to the SEVS list. This was done by Herman at Envy Imports last month. In a little partnership between Herman and I we are importing an R35 with the intention of gaining compliance for this model. It being on the SEVS list does not mean much though, so don't get too excited. It just means it's an eligible vehicle. There is still a long (and expensive) process ahead of us but we will almost certainly be the first in australia to be able to supply and comply R35 GTRs for road registration. If everything goes to plan we will be able to import and comply 2007 and 2008 models, possibly even early 2009 models. I am also supplying another R35 for someone for race use.

If anyone is interested in importing an R35 feel free to send me a PM as I don't want to go into too much detail here. Our first car should be arriving next month. :D

yeah that kinda threw me as well... I assume it was applied for as a new car to expedite the approval process. now that it's been approved for new car import, there's no reason for them to knock back an approval for used imports.

    • The question then becomes - was there any fluid coming from that hole before you did the rebuild ?    You may not have noticed, of course.   Depending on how you did the rebuild, the possibility has to be considered that somehow (cleaning ?)  fluid entered that hole and is now being 'forced'  out by small movements of the proportioning valve.   From the factory, there's actually a small rubber plug in that hole but with age and under-bonnet heat it's quite common for it to 'go missing'.  That rubber plug is designed to allow the venting process but also to prevent 'stuff' getting to the area (prevent corrosion, etc).   The plug is also not available as a spare part AFAIA. Personally I wouldn't race and buy a new master just yet but keep an eye on the area to see if the 'leak' continues.   If you're concerned about brake fluid damaging nearby paintwork, cable tie a piece of suitable absorbant material over the hole and remove/monitor occasionally.    Operation of the proportioning valve and the brake master itself won't be affected, but also keep an eye on brake fluid level, of course. In terms of a new master, the genuine part is getting expensive, unfortunately.  Amayama is showing AUD900+.   I was searching recently and there's an aftermarket part available from Japan made by 'Parts Assist': https://zenmarket.jp/en/yahoo.aspx?q=BNR32%2bBM50&p=1 Whether it's any good I have no idea, although in my experience Japanese aftermarket stuff is pretty good quality-wise.   The above site allows overseas buyers to purchase stuff more easily from Japan but there are fees and shipping costs, of course.   The original Japanese seller page is here: https://auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/p1197401228 Copper/Nickel is fine but I still prefer bundy tube and it's also cheaper.
