he may have been on better tyres.. but they were still street tyres. You cant beat an rx7 on street tyres and the 7 does indeed handle better. Its just chassis design more than anything else.

Dude, im a regular track person and as much as i hate to say this coz its kinda embarrasing on my behalf as well as most other people, but a supra doesnt even own my shitty lil civic on a technical track like winton.. its smallish, has lots of tight corners. Last time i went there were 2 supras, a black one with major mods, big turbo (T67 trust) and suspension work and wheels and everything else.. the usual stuff.. and a silver one with minor mods.. exhaust pods thats probably about it. Neither kept up around the bends... I only had suspenion mods, a cam and had my twin carbies rejetted, brakes and a set of wheels. I owned both of them. and ur tellin me a stock supra will beat a gtr around a track?? f**k off

Yep its sure a shame that people dont use cars like Supras and even RX7s for circuit work...I have never seen either at Wakefield...but I am sure they do get used in Japan..Here these cars end up getting lowered to the bump stops and 24inch wheels fitted, resprayed hot pink and 300kg of In car entertainment fitted...Really pointless shit.."Hey if you cant hear me coming from 6 blocks away then with my stupid paint and wheels you cant miss seeing me"...These cars mostly end up with "self " enthusiasts..not Car enthusiasts...big shame.

gtr-32u---- wats wrong with driveing a bling bling import when considering 99 percent of the time ur gonna use those bling bling mods in day to fulli siking on the strees as opposed to doing engine mods that u use for half a day once or twice a month.. the world needs both

Performance car and bling bling do not ( should not ) go together. One defeats the purpose of the other. I dont mind Bling Bling on the correct type of car. Hummers and Chrysler 300c look great in Bling...as do some of the Lexus range....but to do this to a great performance car like an RX7 or Supra is really Bastardising the car

Dude,

FFS... have you thought , maybe, just maybe those guys were crap drivers? or just having fun not trying to be hero's? or just enjoying the day and didnt want any damage to theyre cars?

supras aren't crap ...

Anyone who has watched the ultimate inline 6 battle would know this ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tDiTWaIhLNw

Tsuchiya loved the Amuse supra I think his exact words were 'supra is great' and 'toyota should really consider not ending the production of these things'.

If the drift king says that supras are ok then I suppose they must be.

Ultimately though the scale goes like this ...

1. 34 GTR

2. 32 GTR

3. 33 GTR

4. Supra

5. GTT

6. 33 and 32 GTS-t

7. NA supra

p.s. what happened to the guy who started this thread

:)

the other thing that was really cool about the amuse supra was that it was only lightly tuned it only had some suspension mods and a turbine kit ... it had stock injectors and i think also a stock clutch.

not bad IMO

Edited by BLK33T

it had 600hp.. thats not lightly tuned. thats fairly tuned with injectors and a clutch done

As for the list.. everyone knows the R33 GTR is the worst GTR ever made.

Im with the 1st list

^^ Ahhh I see

I just thought that it was odd because he said that if someone had money to do more he would recommend they change the clutch and/or injectors thought he was refering to replacing the stock items

R33 GTR is not a bad car ... its a great daily and still quite quick around the track and drag strip yes? but not as raw as the 32 and 34 <--- the 34 i've never driven so can't really comment on that however.

I think the RX7 suits nicely for both styles. Cant say the same for the Supra though

You would be right..

The Amuse supra did NOT have 600hp. It was probably closer to 400rwhp. It still ran stock fuel system and clutch. The Amuse GT30 Turbine kit bolts onto the factory exhaust manifold as far as I am aware.

I want to have a similar car one day but with a 35R and around 500rwhp. Just need to learn how to drive first :D

supras, there gay standard exterior wise.. they lok liek thier smiling.. who wants a f**king car that looks like it came from the movie "cars" with a smile ya want a car that looks liek it guna run you over and do a burnout on your guts

inside its gay, unles you like starwars and want a cockpit of an interior with everything facing you...

that being said nissan interiors are unstylish and borrring (refering to silvias s13 s14 skylines r32 r33)

supras do have one over a skyline

the engine

a 2jz

is the tuffest engine going around

i did some work with a very good engine builder, a master with 2jz's he recently got a gtr so we tore the engine apart of a gtr

the build quality in almost everything in a supra compared to a gtr.. well is unbelieveable better!

strong engines the supra engines are!

if you think supras are ugly, your opinion doesnt matter :( lol jk

and i cant see a GT30 being bolt on to the standard supra manifolds, do they use an adapter manifold from the two factory flanges to a T3 flange? and how do they go about killing the factory sequential setup, electronic or permanent?

Seriously guys, most of you guys have no idea of what you are talking about, the tt supra deserves some serious respect and so does the rx7 they are both beautiful cars and thy both have their strong and weak points, what ive noticed about skyline owners is that they are very biased and there is nothing better than skylines. In my opinion the tt supra will always be the better car in almost every department, as for some people saying that the gtr is a race breed car come on seriously i wouldnt call something that has so many issues such as (oil starvation and more) a race breed car, where as the supra is relly built tough to be abused more like a race car if yo tell me. I know of 2 certain 10sec gtrs in this forum that have been munched by stock engine supras running semi- slick street tyres, as for traction a pair of some slick tyres will fix that problem.

Supra with good rubber and stock engine = GTR having to fully rebuild box and engine just to keep up to the supra anywhere track or drag. eg, Amuse supra.

Thank you,

:)

well as for engine strength and durability I do agree with you.As For drags ...well some quick here, some quick there..but Supra is better suited for this...But for an all out circuit animal....Sorry but I will still favour the GTR as the winner....Sure the Supra got enormous potential..But seriously the Skyline has had soooo much development work with Suspension...And as the power envelope gets pushed further on the circuit the Skylines all wheel drive shows its advantages more so...I dont really see much for Supras competing in Tsukuba time attack..and this is THE event for circuit cars in Japan.....Look how fast the Garage Saurus R32 is...absolute Rocket. But hell the supra definately makes for one mean ass SOB of a street car...piss the twin turbos off and go a big single and its got butts to kick

    • The average previous owner for these cars were basically S-chassis owners in the US. Teenagers or teenager-adjacent. I often tell people that neglect is easier to fix than something that was actively "repaired" by previous owners.
    • Update 3: Hi all It's been a while. Quite a lot of things happened in the meantime, among other things the car is (almost) back together and ready to be started again. Things that I fixed or changed: Full turbo removal, fitting back the OEM turbo oil hardlines. Had to do quite a bit of research and parts shopping to get every last piece that I need and make it work with the GT2860 turbos, but it does work and is not hard to do. Proves that the previous owner(s) just did not want to. While I was there I set the preload for the wastegates to 0,9bar to hopefully make it easier for the tuner to hit the 370hp I need for the legal inspections that will follow later on. Boost can always go up if necessary. Fitted a AN10 line from the catch can to the intake hose to make the catchcan and hopefully the cam covers a slight vacuum to have less restrictive oil returns from the head and not have mud build up as harshly in the lines and catch can. Removed the entire front interior just shy of the dashboard itself to clean up some of the absolutely horrendous wiring, (hopefully) fix the bumpy tacho and put in LED bulbs while I was there. Also put in bulbs where there was none before, like the airbag one. I also used that chance to remove the LED rpm gauge on the steering column, which was also wired in absolute horror show fashion. Moved the 4in1 Prosport gauge from sitting in front of the OEM oil pressure gauge to the center console vents, I used a 3D printed vent piece to hold that gauge there. The HKB steering wheel boss was likely on incorrectly as I sometimes noticed the indicator reset being uneven for left vs. right. In the meantime also installed an airbag delete resistor, as one should. Installed Cube Speed premium short shifter. Feels pretty nice, hope it'll work great too when I actually get to drive. Also put on a fancy Dragon Ball shift knob, cause why not. My buddy was kind enough to weld the rust hole in the back, it was basically rusted through in the lowermost corner of the passenger side trunk area where the wheel arch, trunk panel and rear quarter all meet. Obviously there is still a lot of crustiness in various areas but as long as it's not rusted out I'll just treat and isolate the corrosion and pretend it's not there. Also had to put down a new ground wire for the rear subframe as the original one was BARELY there. Probably a bit controversial depending on who you ask about this... but I ended up just covering the crack in the side of the engine block, the one above the oil feed, with JB Weld. I used a generous amount and roughed up the whole area with a Dremel before, so I hope this will hold the coolant where it should be for the foreseeable future. Did a cam cover gasket job as the half moons were a bit leaky, and there too one could see the people who worked on this car before me were absolute tools. The same half moons were probably used like 3 times without even cleaning the old RTV off. Dremeled out the inside of the flange where the turbine housing mates onto the exhaust manifolds so the diameter matches, as the OEM exhaust manifolds are even narrower than the turbine housings as we all know. Even if this doesn't do much, I had them out anyways, so can't harm. Ideally one would port-match both the turbo and the manifold to the gasket size but I really didn't feel up to disassembling the turbine housings. Wrapped turbo outlet dumps in heat wrap band. Will do the frontpipe again as well as now the oil leak which promted me to tear apart half the engine in the first place is hopefully fixed. Fitted an ATI super damper to get rid of the worn old harmonic balancer. Surely one of the easiest and most worth to do mods. But torquing that ARP bolt to spec was a bitch without being able to lock the flywheel. Did some minor adjustments in the ECU tables to change some things I didn't like, like the launch control that was ALWAYS active. Treated rusty spots and surface corrosion on places I could get to and on many spots under the car, not pretty or ideal but good enough for now. Removed the N1 rear spats and the carbon surrounding for the tailpipe to put them back on with new adhesive as the old one was lifting in many spots, not pretty. Took out the passenger rear lamp housing... what do you know. Amateur work screwed me again here as they were glued in hard and removing it took a lot of force, so I broke one of the housing bolts off. And when removing the adhesive from the chassis the paint came right off too. Thankfully all the damaged area won't be visible later, but whoever did the very limited bodywork on this car needs to have their limbs chopped off piece by piece.   Quite a list if I do say so myself, but a lot of time was spent just discovering new shit that is wrong with the car and finding a solution or parts to fix it. My last problem that I now have the headache of dealing with is that the exhaust studs on the turbo outlets are M10x1.25 threaded, but the previous owner already put on regular M10 nuts so the threads are... weird. I only found this out the hard way. So now I will just try if I can in any way fit the front pipe regardless, if not I'll have to redo the studs with the turbos installed. Lesson learned for the future: Redo ALL studs you put your hands on, especially if they are old and the previous owners were inept maniacs. Thanks for reading if you did, will update when the engine runs again. Hope nothing breaks or leaks and I can do a test drive.
    • No those pads are DBA too  but they have colors too. I look at the and imo the green "street" are the best.
