Trust The Yanks To Pull One Apart...

Recommended Posts

So what's the first thing you do with your new R35 GT-R. Take it to the track? Do laps down George st?

Apparently they pull things apart in the US... Don't really know why yet...

edit: Anyway the reason these guys pulled the engines out is to import them into California. This is apparently the only way to do it with the car being reassembled once it gets there.

Actually..

do yanks have to have their new cars in pieces for import?? or a car like this in pieces for import?

i remember talking to someone saying that engines and gearboxes have to be out of cars to import...?

Looking at the peice of kit in the background they'll have something good in mind...

It could be worse... when I opened this thread I thought it was going to be yanks fitting airbags, some 24" chromies and a 42" plasma screen or something....

This is possibly what they did.

If Stillen is doing the work, you can bet the end result will be phenomenal

I'm betting the engine was removed so it could be hooked up to an engine dyno (after some kind of rebuild?) for some proper tuning work

considering the pics are on stillensucks.com I think it's pretty unlikely stillen have anything to do with this car...

The US has money, and they've been salivating over the GT-R for ages.

It wouldn't surprise me if companies over there brought the car in to pull apart so they could start developing aftermarket parts for it...especially for the powertrain. If not Stillen, then you still have other companies like Jim Wolf Technology that specialise in Nissans.

The best way to learn how something mechanical works, is to pull it apart.

Remember when you use to play with lego. You would build something, then pull it apart and put it back together again.

Did a seacrh on J connect spec, the sticker on the rear of the black car

The cars have been imported for aftermarket parts development

They probably took it apart for the same reason Mines, HKS and other tuning houses have. Just a guess!

you mean that Mines, HKS, etc don't just get a bunch of guys to stand around the car looking at it and guessing what sort of cams, etc are in the motor? they actually pull it apart to look? so that is where i have been going wrong, LOL.

LOL at anyone thinking the americans are stupid. i bet there are jap tuning companies with a gtr stripped bare.

I think you'll find that the Jap's are taking the more sane route of basic upgrades to extract what they can from standard and then figuring out their options from there. Pulling the engine straight out when there is 0 development hours spent on the car in one piece is not something i would do personally.

Anyway the reason these guys pulled the engines out is to import them across the border into Canada from the US. This is apparently the only way to do it with the car being reassembled once it gets to Canada.

    • Out of curiosity, how do you cover up the inspection hole? Surely it doesn't sit open like that, right? With grime and dirt coming in and oil going out?
    • Hi from Canada, Both of my calipers are starting to fail. My car is a 2005 M35 Stagea ARX and I can't seem to find any parts or any cross reference caliper that would fit my car. Is there a company or a similar caliper that would fit and I could replace the OEM one. Or if anyone knows where I can find a new OEM. Any help is very appreciated. Let me know!
    • Maf is a question mark but TPS  I have set at 0.47, the fact that I’m getting proper voltage range out of it with the key on leads me to believe it’s functioning properly. I’m getting proper voltages on basically everything. I still need to look up voltage ranges for z32 maf and test that
    • Honestly no not at all, but it’s a very basic tune, it’s stock injectors q45 tps and z32 maf. Other than that it’s a completely stock base map. The file is from nistune and from my understanding if it was tune related I would be able to unplug maf and tps and it would still start even if it was a really shitty start. I have tried starting it with coolant temp, maf, and tps unplugged none of those 3 togethor or individually changes anything
