Thanks Guy's..

Duncan,

The race car was built early 2000's in Sydney( by Richard Kimber) and the cage was a pretty elaborate piece back then.

The hit into the concrete was hard into the right hand front corner then a pirouette straight around into the right hand rear.

The cage clearly saved my feet and legs around the pedals...because the first front hit pushed the front rail to the left(banana) big time( there is a 35-40 mm gap under the strut brace...and the car has been strengthened and seam welded etc etc..

The second hit on the right hand rear then pushed the rear of the car over to the left( the left hand quarter panel has a big kink in it)

The actual drivers side cross diagonal brace is now flush with the seat( there used to be around 80-90mm gap between the bar and my seat.

And that bar broke both bottom ribs...

The actual navigator seat is now also hard up against the console(the original seat pick up where you bolt the rail in) has just about ripped itself out of the floor( its torn but not all the way out)

I was Really P1ssed of with myself for lunching my car ......but now every time I lift the tarps and have a bit more of a look at it ...it is really twisted and without the cage I dont think I would be here having a winge..SO the the cage really did the bizo.

I have just found another R32 GTR Roller (100% complete bar the bullet and the box) and now we start again...strip- seam weld- new cage-etc etc and will transfer most of the running gear across...12 months from now we will be back out there having fun again..

I have attached a couple of shots ..

I have alsojust put a a previous run from the day on youtube(its called targa west track/sponsor day at the motorplex)

cheers

Your R32 was actually built by Warrick Freemantle in Melbourne who ran in it TT, then sold to Richard Kimber in Sydney, who subsequently had it painted green from blue.

Warrick previously owned the Manion's R33 N1 too.... a nice bloke, tidy steerer and had a couple of podiums to his name in GT-R's.

Well finally got a monkey off my back by actually finishing a Tarmac rally!

Just this weekend passed I competed in the Mountain Motorsports event 'The Great Tarmac Rally'.

Numbers were low, but it was still a quality field. 8 stages in total including 3 cracks in each direction of Eildon/Big River. Not to mention the Reefton Spur which was the first Special Stage ever run in the the Melbourne city council.

Navving in the Too Right Automotive Evo IX we finished up 2nd Outright.

I strongly urge anyone who hasn't been to one of these events to give it a go. Peter and Timmy put in a pretty good effort with a fairly modest budget and do everything off their own back. And the trophies were quite novel and different to the usual cheese platter you get everywhere else.

Final Results

1 Paul DOWIE / Nicole Bryan 1:46:58.90 Mitsubishi Evo 7

2 Danny TRAVERSO / Tim Kulhanek 1:47:42.90 Mitsubishi Evo 9

3 Clinton ARENTZ / Peter BURREY 1:48:14.30 Mitsubishi Evo 10

4 Tim HENDY / Joanne SIBLEY 1:48:27.20 Nissan Skyline R34 GTR

5 Guy Lilleyman / John LILLEYMAN 1:50:50.10 Mitsubishi Evo 9

6 Tristan Stirling-Cameron / Doug FERNIE 2:01:20.20 Renault Clio RS

7 Stephen O'NEILL / Frank MAXWELL 2:07:37.60 Subaru WRX

8 Phil WALTERS / Pam WALTERS 2:12:15.10 Ford Capri Perana

9 Keith MORLING / Alex Morling 2:09:01.90 Ford Escort

10 Eames PETER / Rebecca EAMES 2:24:17.10 Nissan Skyline R33 GTR

Didn't need any comic relief by the sounds of it?

That little Escort does so well for what it is, really nice build.

And yeah, having attended MM events before - well run and a heap of fun. Would go again... If i didn't sell the car :D

No Ash, it was a bit of a mile stone for us both! Not so much as even a moment!

Keith was doing really well in the Escort, He was in the top 4 I think prior to his off road excursion, hopefully it fixes ok.

Targa West running in WA this weekend for anyone that cares. :)

Prologue seemed to provide some natural selecion. Commodore in the vid had an off in eacch of his two passes at the course. But seriously, what event has speed bumps in the prologue or any stage for that matter. ????????

Old EMO is currently running second in a battle with the Rullo 35 GTR with Gentleman Jim leading the way. Early days though....

Gosh.

And some more fail. The 35 that was running at the front shat a box. Tends to happen when they are putting out a "stock" 600+ horsepower doesnt it? :) (one of the other 35's has had same fate) Some understeer of fail for the viper and emo IX. Viper driver does have a bit of a reputation as being a tree hugger.

Jim is doing well considering the event is capped at 200kmh, so he cant really capitalise on his legs. Old EMO is doing well considering its an EM car not modern. Again 200kmh cap is probably helping.

I was at the great tarmac rally too. I was driving the silver GTR with the tour cars, had a great couple of days. Think I may have even spoken to you guys at some stage.

Mike.

If that is the highlight package... :ban: the producers of it  How difficult would it be for them to put out an informative highlights package?

Seems like there's a fair few people intent on giving themselves a car to fix after this event too and the interesting thing (from someone sitting in front of a computer 3000kms away) is that none of these moments/off's seem to be happening on particularly dangerous corners. The only one that is iffy is the right-hander the Viper went off on, but surely a straight followed by a crest and '3' right would call for a caution in the notes...

Just my two cents :woot:

It is a bit of a claytons rally. Hats off to the organisers for trying to arrange something local, but there is only so much you can do with WA roads, and also a noisy minority in one area that robbed the event of some of its best stages. Hence why I havent really bothered with it. Would rather do the road trip to High Country for sure. maybe next year?? The new build starts tonight. Am well over my time on the sidelines.

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
    • Hi.. Just another problem. So maybe you can help. I(my mechanic) done swap from my RB20DE NEO to RB25DET NEO. Everything is OK but we have a boost cut. Coils/Plugs are ok...AFM is ok. ECU is ok. I have Walbro 255 but it "changed" sound few months ago(you can hear it ouside) you did not hear that when it was new(maybe faulty?) Sooo...what now? What can cause this boost cut? It is even when you standing still...
