those "cars with wrecker engines" as you call them still cost more than most of the datsuns so shut it with the trying to down play the obvious advantage of a race bred chassis with masive power upgrades and the overall weight of a fart in a bottle.

These datsuns all run datsun engines too. Trot ya gutless lotus out with its original engine intact and see how it fares against the dattos. Meanwhile, find the tissue box.

Pure poetry!

You would be shocked of you actually compared the cost (both purchase and running) of our Lotus with these datsuns.

would we? one of these lotii was advertised for $120,000. You could buy the sister car to the BSM GTR for less than half that...

both the cars from last year were road registered and used wrecker engines

you seem to have left that out of the $120,000 advertisement...

rego label, fail

where's the number plate go?

our old car is and was registered too, and sold for alot less than 120k

pretty poor form to generalize, alot of people would like to see the lotus's there again but without this " i am JESUS" kind of attitude ( I didnt realize thats what it meant on the side of the car)

I seriously thought different of you lotus guys... its pretty poor form to come out and be apart of something and then wipe your arse with it and bag it. Thats real poor form in my opinion. And to bag it like you have just shows what sort of stuck up yuppies you really are.

Considering that there is very little on your cars that is infact OEM or from a performance package even associated with the OEM range i recon you should take your little yellow nugget and go and run it in ASSA open class and see how you fair with Hossack's Audi and the mega power Barnes pontiac etc. Regardless what number plate or what class you have a log book for, the only thing that the Lotus's with the blower VTEC combo that you had running there should be classed under is Sports Sedan.

Regardless... man up and walk away if you are not into it, dont bag it behind a keyboard you poof!

Not just the bigger dollar cars but anyone who has a passion about driving anything performance... i am sure that they would like to see any car that is considered fast out there.

last time I looked Prod Sports didn't allow engine changes, or supercharging unless it was standard... and whatever you're calling these honda/elise things doesn't seem to be on the eligibility list? you may have to go back to the Australian GT Championship unles you want to drop the Rover donk back in.

these aren't new ones Boz. they came with Rover K series donks as found in the Rover Freelander!

maybe they sneak into Production Sports under that limited production rule where they only need to build 5 or 10 cars?

I spotted john today trying to work out if he can fit 385 tyres on the front of the z. Apparently some mods are required.

BTW I didn't see the lotii at the practice for the state champs today. I for one would love to see them back next year to back it up. Unless superlap is a gtr only competition.

The BSM GTR was out and about harassing the 6l chev sports sedans too. They still have a little more poke in a straight line but the BSM car seems to put down the power pretty well.

Hey Duncan small world, and fancy seeing you and Neil at Eastern Creek today. Also great to see the Branster GTR out mxing it with some awesome sports sedans. Tried 305 rear actually.

Hey Bris I have been flat out running the biz and getting final things done of the Slot Car. No secrets here, the boat has hat afull respray, now tough looking satin black, Carbon fibre targa roofs, saving 10kg, carbon Kevlar front spiltter, PPG straight cut dog box, modified rear wing, Bilstine PSS9's with Eibach springs, major surgery on geometry to raise roll centre and all pivot points raised, 997 GT3 Cup callipers, hard annodised with 380mm 72 vane BREMBO, lowered the motor 12mm with custom motorsport mounts, removed more weight and more. Going to Oran on Monday for testing.

For the Lotus crew, well uncalled for and plenty of amo the other way in my opinion. I guess I should say thanks for stirring the pot and getting discussion going. As for hangrenade engines, well my motor has not left the engine bay and had no problems in over 3 and half years, and lots of track days. Not a mega dollar motor either. It has mostly stock parts, including crank, oil and water pumps, throttle bodies and manifolds, fuel rail, block, cams even, just reground, modified stock cam gears, and up until now stock gearbox, even a cheap but strong single plate clutch has lasted years as air cooled. No Panteck with pit crew with headsets and lap tops, tyres scrapers, Motecs, remote battery jump starts, and logging and didn't start with a road registered race car either.

    • Yeah, hard to find and a pain in the ass to change with the transverse engine. I’ve worked on a GTiR before and it’s not a job I’d ever want to do again. theres a company in South Africa that makes RS3 gearbox adaptors for the AWD SR20 including gearbox mounts, so I could modernise it and go a dual clutch with paddles. For now tho, it ticks all the boxes. Super cheap, can throw the kids and their junk in the back, and SR20 that I can turbo cheaply, a CVT that’s not a dog’s breakfast like the V35, and has 80% interchangeable parts with stuff I can source from the wreckers cheaply…. But it’s still unique. I love the wagon back of the Autech version. It’s cheap enough that I can buy another stock manual FWD Primera with SR20VE, swap the gearbox to the N15 pulsar short gear ratio box, swap out the brakes to the R32 ones I pulled off my 32, register it on club plates and take it racing. $1300 shipping from NZ. Heaps of parts and aftermarket builders for transverse SR20’s in NZ.
    • Hard to say, just pop the rocker covers off and have a look if you think it's cammed. You probably need to replace the valve cover gasket/half moons anyways.
    • From my youth: GTi-R clutch change is a massive pain. The gearboxes are fragile? But the car is super cool and I want one 😢
