actually, most setups with noisy exhausts, screamers, and bov's are just a big pain in the ass.

Do you know how many young dickheads have done burnouts, made heaps of noise, crashed, etc, and now, I can't even drive mine around the corner at 20kmph without some cop pulling me over and defecting me with shit like "intercooler pipe through the inner guard" or "exhaust hangs too low (when it doesn't)

If you put the screamer on, I hope you get defected and taken off the road, and lose your license.

There are too many idiots doing illegal shit, causing such drama for people that just want to own a fast car - legally.

There is nothing illegal about my car, I race it at drag meets, and drive very sedately on the street, yet I am harassed because of young dickheads doing stupid illegal shit thinking its great, giving skylines one big f**k off of a bad name.

My screamer/dump setup is flanged, so its plumbed back for the street and open for the drags/track.

thats fine then.

Just pissed about getting harrased for owning a skyline because of stupid shit others are doing.

You drive yours?

A real skyline owner has it on stands in the garage

I know what you mean Jono. A guy owning a T-Bucket can have exposed wheels and engine,no bumpers,110DB exhaust and side pipes though he is called an enthusiast and isnt looked at twice by the police.

But if you are an enthusiast with a skyline.....

Sorry for the hijack

It helped a lot when they passed the law re turbo's and 'P' platers...........

I'm with Mafia, 3037/3076/30r and plumbed back. If you go the screamer you'll won't be able to afford any more mods, you'll be to busy paying off your fines.

And if you put it on stands, drain the oil out, that way it doesn't leak [i even took those pesky pistons and crank out, it makes it much lighter to jack up on the stands].

the lad just wants to know what the best setup for his car would be, didnt need everyone elses bullshit input about being illigal.. Givve the guy a break..Have a lookk where the guys llves before start gobbin off about young skyline owners give others a bad name. He's most likely older then you anyway...

gt3040R with 44mm gate and screamer low mount, do it up....

i'd go a 3071 and an edxhaust cam gear for response... you'll get get like 350-380rwhp but have more response x 11ty

and on the subject of the t-bucket... 100% agree there... those things break about 8 million laws but NEVER get hastled

thanks for all your input guys but still not sure what to go with because as said the gt3040R setup has alot more potential if i rebuild it

for the record its a daily driven car and i turn 19 in feb

must set the record straight love my car and not all people my age are "dickheads"

getting back on subject

what would be the max power and response out of the gt3071R

and what would GT3040 max power be if i rebuilt it in 6 months or so?

looking at 380 up to 400 hp@wheels!

i chose the gt3071r because it looks stock, goes hard, and is bolt up (no custom shit takes time and money)

and the GT3040r because there i a decent setup in the fore sale section.

i like the stock look and the ease of the gt3071R but i love the sound of gate!!!!

just means its alot more illegal

the GT3071 that you are talking about in this case sounds like it has been shoehorned into a nissan turbine housing.

the geniune whole garrett item needs oil and water lines just like the GT3040 plus new dump pipe and new intake.

the turbine housing of the GT3071 GT3040 and of course nissan housings will bolt up to the manifold (+/- spacer as needed for garrett turbos).

the factory dump pipe will only fit a nissan housing it won't fit a garrett GT30 turbine housing.

the only true "bolt on" is a hiflow of the standard turbo eg. GCG hiflow. the factory oil and water lines obviously go back on and so does the intake and dump.

HKS GT-RS comes in kit form with all oil and water lines but bolts up in the standard spot with the factory dump pipe. this is the next closest thing to "bolt on". (ps. both GCG and HKS GT-RS will meet your power target with the best response)

every thing else (to the best of my knowledge) has varying levels of modification required to get them working.

ie. GT3040 will probably need the engine mount to be machined for clearance.

    • What an awesome idea to fit the facelift Lamborghini Diablo headlights. They are a perfect fit!
    • An update regarding the registration with the DVLA I sent off the paperwork the day after I collected the car from the port, two weeks later it was all returned with a letter explaining they have rejected the application. This was because the cheque was £20 short for the road tax (I used a price list I found online). Nevermind it is what it is, it was sent back to them the following day with a new cheque. Fast forward another 2 weeks or so, I called them for an update to be told it had been rejected. Yesterday (16th September) I received the documents back along with another letter, this time it was because I didn't put an X in one box on the V750 (personalised number plate certificate), which declared that I had the rights to the personalised number plate. Why this wasn't mentioned in the first rejection letter, I don't know, but it could have saved this headache. The documents were sent back today, so fingers crossed third times a charm and it'll FINALLY be registered on the road just in time for the bad weather (woohoo!) To cheer myself up I lowered the front 25mm, was sick of seeing it sit like a monster truck. No idea how much clearance I'll have getting on and off the driveway, I'll worry about that when I can actually drive it
    • You're going to miss not worrying about rust in the strut towers like the Skyline shitboxes out there
    • A few little updates that weren't filmed due to not taking long to do or not interesting enough for their own video. My new K&N Air Filter arrived, I went with an RU-4180 which matched the dimensions of the universal cone filter the car originally had.  The battery had gone flat, while that was charging I tidied up the spaghetti wiring at the bulk head and down the sides of the engine Next job was to swap the stereo The Kenwood harness had the female ISO plugs cut off and the male ISO plugs cut off the adaptor loom and joined with bullet connectors. I ordered in a repair loom through work and re-did it all. New Kenwood unit installed (Android Auto, DAB, Bluetooth, Reverse Camera) The bonnet/hood gas struts have been poor since collecting the car. I couldn't find any suitable replacements locally so took a chance on a pair from AliExpress.  The originals don't use a retaining clip to secure the cup onto the ball fixture, would explain why I struggled for 10-15mins trying to pry off the cups. The ball fixtures unscrew using a 12mm spanner, new ones are the same size. Sadly no photo of them fitted, you're not missing much lol The dished Momo steering wheel got replaced with my Momo Tuner, turns out I ordered counter sunk bolts for the horn trim ring (like they normally are for the steering wheel) instead of allen cap (flat seat)  A terrible photo of a Quaife style gear shift knob I've had stashed in my tool box for many years after purchasing the incorrect thread size (I can see a pattern emerging with ordering incorrect parts...) Also threw in a cup holder and a (empty) Boss Coffee can, because why not
    • GT-R clearly the better choice! The 300 is certainly not insaly fast but has a decent amount of poke. Does a nice little drift around the corners with a decent amount of throttle. It's VERY predictable in a slide too.  Feels so progressive! People probably presume there's a 25 year old driving it based on my behaviour this week! 🤣
