I own a R33 and I have to admit that I do see a lot of tools driving them but I also see alot of tools driving a lot of other cars too. I think you'd find that any make of car which has I guess you'd call it a reputation (good or bad) will have morons who own them.

I see a lot of these comments state how R33 owners are the worse offenders so next time I see any of you on the road I'll wave :) maybe even blow you a kiss if your lucky :D so dry those eyes.

I try to have a glance and give a wave but if they don't acknowledge me and drive past it does not bother me.

A while back a R34 GTR was passing me and I turned and looked at him and he didn't acknowledge me...

I pulled up next to another R34 GTR at the lights and I turn to say "Hello", the driver just looked straight ahead...

Saw a R35 GTR driver last Sunday, who I looked him in the face, he saw me and just looked away...

They have the right to go about their own business and so do I... Not fussed.

I mean... If you see someone with the same shoes on, do you give a wave..?

If your having the same meal as someone else at a restaurant, do you wave at them..?

Seriously I don't see this as such a big of a deal...

If they want to say "Hi" then they will, if not don't worry about it.

At time, some Skyline drivers have waved at me but there was sun glare on their windscreen and did not see till the last minute, I would have easily give them a wave back.

how about a bit of self control

i drive an R32 GTST with 320kw atw

i sit there at the lights to any wanker whos trying to start me

on limeter till the light turns green and then bog out

just 4 laughts

iknow i woud bet most the shit boxes around so i dont even try

p.s i also lost my licences 4 3years 4 racing

and got caught 180km in a 60km zone

take it to the track!!!!

if you know what your car can do! try to talk them to the local drag strip to put there money where there mouth is!!!!!!!

if not you know there just pussys

After owning a Skyline for abit over a month ive found every GTR ive driven next to has given me the nod or the thumbs up back... every other skyline i have gotten either give me a funny look, the cold shoulder or try and race me...

One of the main reasons I sold my GTR was the stigma that skylines provide.

Not only a stigma among the police but also among the general public, when people think "Import Hoon Car" they'll think of a Skyline First.

Also, you can pick up R32 GTS-T's now for 5k, meaning any bogan can afford one, and thrash the shit out of it.

yeah I know,, i usually nod when driving past another guy in a 33, and if i come up to the lights i check the other car out n stuff, but the other drivers dnt even wanna look my way lol, its like they notice im there for a sec, and they get ready to race. Maybe its not the drivers, but the othr ppl in the cars that tell them to do stupid stuff

When I used to own my HR31 GTS-X about 12 years ago I used to get waves and thumbs-up from 3/4 of the population of Syd, and on heaps of occasions I was asked if I could pull over so they could have a look at the car and ask questions etc. Even had cops pull me over just for a look and chat ( they mostly thought it was a GT-R at first :verymad: ). This was a time when owning an Import Skyline was something VERY special and I was part of a group with few members.

Then I got my R32 GTS-T and always got waves etc and the occasional chat at the lights and then as more and more Skylines hit the roads there became more of the "too cool to give a wave or nod" crew out there.

I now drive an N/A Series 2 R34 4 door and I may as well be invisible or a known murderer ! To most Skyline drivers, my car "does'nt count". I used to give a wave or nod etc but now, CBF since I get no response. Not having a cry about it at all, but it's kind of a shame.

I think the whole acknowledgement thing is more common when the car you're driving is un-common, clean and original.

910 Bluebird FTW :verymad:

i get more nods and waves inthe bluebird than the stagea

mostly people think the stagea is an old volvo or something

the 910 has the all out oldschool carby cam lump thing happening

but you get commodore wankers

falcon wankers

skyline wankers

civic wankers

silvia wankers

datsun wankers

usualy this is because of blind ignorance and/or they have been beaten by one of the above previously

if someone calles you a *insert name here* wanker - take it a a compliment - they are jelous!

I know exactly what you mean.

I used to get waves from anyone owning an import and was all to happy to return them.

I also believe the quality of the cars have dropped now, with more bogans owning them out comes the cheap and backyard mods and the lack of respect for the cars. Ive lost count of the times ive seen Skylines on the street with cheap bodykits half hanging off or cars modified with cheap china ebay mods :verymad:

i think italso depends how modified your car is, if you have some hardcore racing machine on the street everyone looks and everyone in an import will wave if you wave to them.

although in saying that there is the knobheads who dont know anyhting about the culture at all.

I usually get and give waves to other genuine import enthusiasts (not just Skyline owners), but again the influx of a different type of owner, ie the VL Turbo set (I think the watershed was when an R33 GTS-T hit about the same price as a Calais Turbo) means that half the time I pull up at the lights and the other guy is being a dick and trying to race me while I'm trying to ignore the glare from his horrible 18x6 chrome wheels.

GT-R owners are generally pretty cool though, I still find it surprising that there aren't really many bogans driving them yet!

i couldent see "davo winnieblue vb tallie" spending hours a week on the net trying to look for the solutions to running problems and the bits and peices us gtr owners need to keep our cars going.

unlike his native commodore / falcon where he can get all he needs from any wrecking yard/supercheap auto

any any one named "steve-jonno-wazza-bazza-blue-oldmate-scottie etc etc" will have the skills to fix your car, although scottie went to tafe and knows about how to set the timing so keep him happy.

best truth lol ever!!!!!!!!

All the gtrs that have been bought by bogans are all currently sitting in a shed or garage waiting for the motor to get stripped down because the dumb shit bogans have gone and run a bearing or something and can't afford the rebuild.

Its ok though since they probably only bought the cheap GTRs that we all tend to avoid like the plague. :)

I get more waves from other GTR owners than I do from any other imports. But occasionally I get a 180 or something waving and giving the thumbs up.

Haha well the one bogan here who did buy a GT-R did a big end bearing on the second day he owned it...

Das Kamu, I think that applies for all imports! especially out in the country where most mechanics don't know or care about Skylines or anything else like that, and when you ask questions at parts shops they act like it's the same car as a VL lol.

FYI a dude with a VK HDT and a XU-1 Torana told me he liked my car the other day so not all commodore owners are losers haha.

tbh i had always thought of skyline owners as d1cks. idk why, i guess it was just the few i had seen / met that swayed my thoughts.

after becoming a member on these forums though, i'd come to realise that the majority of you drive the car because you genuinely love and enjoy the car, not to be 'kool' or 'own cvnts'. I respect that a lot.

I'll be giving you guys some waves and thumbs up when my RB25DET VL is back on the road in a few weeks, i'm expecting some funny looks.

    • Clutch is a spec brand, new clutch system,( PP, flywheel, friction disc, etc. pull type) installed 100 miles ago, with no problems.
    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?
