Haven't seen a blue RS.

There is another Axis. Silver.

One of the just jap guys has a silver arx with just jap decals.

Saw a red RS today and I've seen a white RS as well.

Getting to be quite the collection.

Picked up a new tyre from Tyrepower Frankston.

When I dropped off the punctured one the tyre guy said "is that for the Volvo?". "Nah, It's a Nissan" I said laughing.

I think he apologised 5 times in the space of 30 seconds!

Anyway, when I went to pick it up, the older guy there comes out, looks over my shoulder and says

"Oh, is this the one for the Stagea?"

"Yep" (somewhat astonished that he knew what my car was)

"Yeah, there are quite a few getting around here, well not your one, the older model... the one that looks like a Camry from the back"

"Yeah that's the one" (laughing)

"What are you laughing at? Yours looks like a Volvo from the back!"

"Yep" (laughing harder)

The laughing stopped when I got the invoice for the tyre though :(

  • 2 weeks later...

Just moved into a new house and the neighbours thought I was driving a yellow volvo

Got some funny looks when driving down the newell highway to tas too, especially in the smaller towns

Had a door to door salesman came by our Warehouse this week selling a car / glass cleaning product. Went through the whole sales speal in our office and then offered to show how it works on the Volvo parked outside... grrrrrrr :O

Asked him what Volvo? ... the Silver Volvo parked outside .... no silver Volvo parked our side... yes definatley a Volvo... He lost the sale at this point.. lol

Ummm. has anyone whos got GT5 noticed the description for the '98 Nissan Stagea 260RS Autech?

"Although the exterior was linear in a volvo-like box style......"!!!

Was driving home from a mates other week an ha some sketchy looking fellow hang out his window to ask me if I was driving a r35 gtr. I looked at him laughed and said nah mate this is a stationwagon haha left him so puzzled

i had a guy in a XF falcon wagon. looked pretty nice too.

he was taking pictures of my car, and at the next set of light he goes. i wanna upgrade my wagon, and been looking at a few volvo's whered you get yours from?

I said, 'oh a place called SSV in huntingdale, they do alot of Japanese imports' he said, 'but volvo's arent Japanese' I said 'yeh i know, this is a nissan'

both had a laugh n he said "oh this the new stagea" ...

conversation continued after with me and my dad..

I said to him "see people like my car more than your so much that they even take pictures"

My dad turned around and said "yeh? police used to like taking photo's of your car, and then charge you the bill for it too"

ass hole lol

Oh yeah, went back to the carwash on Friday, the car was well overdue for a wash. Can't remember if it was the same guy I saw working there last time, but as he walked inside to call me, he just looked and smiled (he'd been announcing each car by colour and model as each was ready to be collected by it's owner).

Anyway, as I went to get in, he announces to all the other workers there: "hey boys, see this car? It's got all the good bits from a Skyline GT-R in it" or something along those lines.

Not quite a Volvo story, but I had a chuckle to myself as I left there...

I took my 1 week old Stagea drifting on Friday night at EC.

Rock up to the gates, 1st security guard asks if I was spectating, I said "nah, I'm drifting". Security guard 1 pauses and then says ok and lets me through.

drive down to the pitlane and security guard 2 asks if I was spectating, I gave him the same reply, Security guard 2 was stunned and asked "YOUR DRIFTING THAT THING?!" my reply was, "yep, just watch me" ;) And I did just that, drifted a stock, automatic Stagea ... it was good fun! :teehee:

    • Wife wanted basket things in the wardrobe in our temporary house. Thought about ripping our the wardrobe and fitting the entire IKEA set, but it's a temporary house and we want to move in a few years. So IKEA advertises this as a 50cm unit, however the actually basket and rails measure 46cm wide. Only issue was depth, IKEA stuff is quite deep, where as the builder special junk is super shallow at less than 40cm. Send it, chopped the rails, then offset the mounting holes, job done, happy wife, less shit scattered all over the bedroom. Did the same to the other side too. Also drove the Skyline shit box today, dropped off oil at Supercheap Auto. I didn't realise they only now take max 2x bottles per visit. I visited 2x Supercheap Autos.
    • I've seen similar actually in my situation. You never know what tables are attempted to be used when the car thinks it's -99C or +200C. The fail state is not usually that extreme but you know what I mean - it was in my case though! This is where being able to read all the sensors is useful cause you see this stuff really quickly.
    • The above is very important. However as long as you keep timing relatively low, it's plausible to make your own knock ears and plausible to learn to tune with a modern ECU that can do wideband O2 correction like a boost controller. I mean if you only have one viable road to even drive the car on, learning to tinker to this level may be worth doing given you can't do much else with the car...?
    • I find the fact that the rear plate has to be bent inwards at the rear not so bad: but the front is just awful: It's like come on. (these are my very old, now retired/turned in plates) TBH it is a lot of money to fix a minor issue, the fact I said "I'll never really spend the money on doing this" is why people ended up buying them as a gift for a 'car guy' who can be hard to shop for.. for car guy things.
    • I just bent the ends of my premo plates. It even went through Regency like that after the engine conversion and the inspector (a great bloke!) just squinted his eyes and said "I didn't see that". Plates, and how they look, are just something that have zero importance to me.
