nah ill stick with my classic red n black hey :) but that silver one is nice!! all u need is that front spoiler, those wheels, and coilovers to make it look awesome as that regardless of colour. sucks how its difficult to really dump DR's :(

yeah headlights suck on the DR hey im always using mainbeams on everything but main roads ;)

Nah, they look good in any colour but white  Which mine unfortunately is. Every other colour looks ok, but white makes the front look strange. The wrong angle can make the Tekamon front look weird in any colour though... In the latest HPI I don't think any of the pictures of the 4 door RSX look flattering at all. The 4wd rideheight and the completely undished wheels dont help though

Me too! They look fat with the deep dish rims hey. :aroused:

thats how my RS8's look or sit? there 15x7 offset +15 at the front and 15x7.5 offset +21 at the rear for reference and thats what they look like when on, fill up the guards to with-in a mm of rubbing  once the r30 is on the road i'm selling the r31 i have at the moment and getting a set of brand new Rays engineering GT-N 17's painted in black with the crome outsides.. been specking to a bloke who's working on 8's at the front and 9's for the rear :cheers: which might mean i'll need some of those flares just for good measure!

i'm going to respray the top half of mine as theses quite a few scratches in the paint but the bottom half (black) is perfect..

stupid question: are you running an FJ in the r31?? or did you take it along for the hell of it?LOL

Hey where can i get a bar and plate Hybrid Super Monster from for around $3/400, someone mentioned before they could get them cheap.

i've seen the real hybrid coolers for $450 ebay or you could get a copy for $3/400, mine was $600 about a year ago 600x300x75mm.

picked up a copy today of that issue, get this its a gold coast car and i've seen it twice on the road but i quess he's not on here, i'll keep my eye out and the next time i see it i'll try to speck to him! your right not the most beastie looking example but i think he's spent a bit on the engine instead  i think he raced at the Qld fast fours jamboree, on the sunday when i was there 13 something i think from memory as the bikini comp was on at the same time. ME BAD....

My car had bad rust in LHF so that is getting fixed and while its in it is getting majority of the bodywork mickey whisker. There was a few deeper scratches in the paint, and a small dent down the bottom of the LHR 1/4. I think that happened on its way over from Japan.

I agree that the DR30 looks best in silver and black, a really good contrast!

As for Anthony's R31, its the NICS RB20DET engine, but he's converting it to FJ20 power! I think you've got forgies, ECU and turbo also going on it don't you???

I have posted my thoughts on the thread so! now I just wait and see what response I get.

BUT!!!! it seems they are experiencing heaps of trouble with idle etc, maybe it's due to the profile shape as the primary difference between solid & hydraulic lifter cams.

Anyway, why pay $300+ for second hand GTR when $850 gets you BRAND NEW anything you want.

If you do go down that track, you got a g'teed deal sale on your RB20DET cams, cause I will take them.

they seem to be having problems with ECU when i do the swap i'll ether be using a new plug in wolf ecu or a rechipped ecu, i'll work in this order get all work done at the one shop or get the turbo, cams and adj gears installed then the ECU worked and tuned in a hope to keep the dyno time down, its the idle that seems to be the problem so if i was able to play with these settings then that should be able to get around the idle problem.

haha 4 door? welcome to my world!

saw this siik black DR30 2 door last night, very siik mate... rego J!NMAN, seen it around ant?

Nothing wrong with white, just not ALL white.

I think mine looks cool, white/silver.

And now considering scrapping RB conversion for L31, to keep more in phase with originality. Top end HP might not be as big, but torque would be similar and 300rwhp still might be achievable.

Someone that could remark an L28 block to my L20 engine number would be interesting, no need for engineering or emissions testing then and a nice little sleeper.

Yeah,it was a cruise for FJ20 enthuisests,so I went along in the HR31 anyway!

It's an ECCS red top,but that's not important,as it sucks anyway.

Yes,my FJ20 will soon be living in the HR31.Dare I say it,I think I'll have the best of both worlds :P:)

The FJ already has Wiseco forgies, big Garrett ball bearing turbo,EMS QI-4 ecu, etc,etc....

colour wise i'm still a fan of the red/black and if i was to change it would be a deeper red for the top half...m2c

When my original project car was the RED 4 door hatch, my choice of colours was going to be U12 Pintara Ti colour scheme, Cabernet/Stormy Glow.

In laymans terminology, Burgundy/Silver, but Red/Silver would look cool as well. Have seen R31's in that scheme.

Matt,

Before you go to the GTR cams, get yours measured, because if your engine came out of a Cefiro or Laurel, it could have 248 degree cams and the change would give you SFA, in fact you could experience a loss with GTR's.

If your going to get a new re programmable ECU, why not just get a set of 254's and be done with it.

mine is a 92' r32 silvertop rb20det still got the front of the car it came out off :(

if your talking $850 plus $400 for new cam gears then fitting i'd be better off getting my hands on a hks 2530 turbo and blue tacing that on :ghost: but these a process with every thing each of us do!

yas - u crazy mofo thats not a DR30, JINMAN is an import 2dr HR31. it was for sale for a while for 13k but hes keeping and rebuilding the RB20DET in it now. seen it on a few cruises.

hey man u wanna buy my cooler!? :P:D getting my big one installed tomorow and get car back thursday.

edit: an coz ur like the only dude with an FJ20 in perth its easy to sell it all to you and make good use of it, give u cooler, piping and BOV all for $150. beter than having it sitting round my place! :(:(

HR31? Woops, my bad... 13k!? Phoarrrr...damn... mine's loose change compared to $13k...

$150!?!?! are you serious!? dayam! Pencil me in hey, once I get this tax return sorted out and get the bling-bling then i'll get down to modding the FJ.

My friend went to hong kong today and he won't be back for 2 weeks, he says he wants to do the POD air filter thingy for me. But i also gotta do that muffler thing too... So many upgrades! *pant pant*

    • Back again. I returned to Japan in Jul/Aug to spend time with the car on my birthday and remind myself what all the sacrifice and compromise is for. It happened to line up with the monthly morning meet in Okutama, which I have been wanting to go to for a long time. It's a unique event at a unique spot with really rare, interesting, and quirky cars. It's where all the oldheads and OGs gather. The nighttime scene at DKF certainly has its place and should be experienced if you're into cars, but there's too much bad attention and negativity around it now. IMO the better time is Sunday morning at DKF or Okutama; it's more chill and relaxed. I'm glad I was finally able to go, but not sure it's worth the drive from all the way from Nagoya immediately the day before, unless I was already staying in Tokyo for the days right before the meet, because you have to wake up quite early to make it in time. Funnily enough though I didn't drive the car all that much this trip because it was just too damn hot. While there were zero issues and running temps were nominal and the A/C was strong, RBs already run crazy hot as it is. Sure, it took it all like a champ but something about driving these cars in the ridiculous heat/humidity bothers me and makes me feel like I'm asking too much of it. I'm just me being weird and treating the car like a living thing with feelings; I'm mechanically sympathetic to a fault. Instead I was mainly driving something else around - a KX4(silver) 2001 X-Trail GT, that I acquired in May. There's a few different flavors to choose from with Xs, but visually it's the Nissan version of the Honda CR-V. Mechanically it's a whole different story as this, being the top-trim GT, has an SR20VET mated to a four-speed auto and full-time AWD! It was a very affordable buy in exceptional condition inside and out, with very low mileage...only 48k kms. Most likely it was owned by an older person who kept it garaged and well-maintained, so I'm really happy with how it all worked out. It literally needs zero attention at the moment, albeit except for some minor visual touch-ups. I wanted something quirky, interesting, and practical and for sure it handily delivers on all three of those aspects. I was immediately able to utilize the cargo and passenger capacity to its full extent. It's a lot of fun to drive and is quite punchy through 1st and 2nd. It's very unassuming -in the twisty bits it's a lot more composed than one would think at a glance- and it'll be even better once I get better tires on it(yes, it's an SUV but still a little boat-y for my liking). So...now I have two golden-era Nissans in silver. One sports car and one that does everything else; the perfect two-car solution I think👍 The rest of the trip...I was able to turn my stressed brain off and enjoy it, although I didn't quite get to do as much as I thought. I did some interesting things, met some interesting people, and happened into some interesting situations however, that's all for another post though only if people really want to know. Project-wise, I went back to Mine's again to discuss more plans and am hoping to wrap that up real soon; keep watching this space if that interests you. Additionally, while working in the tormenting sweatbox that is the warehouse, I was able to organize most of the myriad of parts that my friend is storing for me along with the cars, and the 34 has a nice little spot carved out for it: And since it can get so stupid hot in there, that made it all the more easy -after I was standing there looking at the car and said 'f**k it'- to finally remove all the damn gauges that have mostly been an eyesore all this time. Huzzah. The heat basically makes the adhesive backing on the gauge mounts more pliable to work with, so it was far less stressful getting this done. I didn't fully clean it up or chase the wiring though; that will happen once I have the car in closer possession. Another major reason to remove all that stuff is to give people less reasons to get in my car and steal s**t while it's being exported/imported when/if the time comes, which leads us to my next point... ...and that is even though it's time in Japan is technically almost up since it's a November car and the X would be coming in March, I'm still not entirely sure where my life and career is headed; I don't really know what the future looks like and where I'm going to end up. I feel there's a great deal of uncertainty with me and as a result of that, it feels like I'm at a crossroads moreso now than any point in my life thus far and there are some choices I need to make. Yes, I've had some years to consider things and prepare myself, however too much has happened in that time to maintain confidence and everything feels so up in the air; tenuous one might say. Simply put, there's just too much nonsense going on right now from multiple vectors. Admittedly, I'm struggling to stay in the game and keep my eyes on the prize. So much so in fact, that very recently I came the closest I ever have before to calling it quits outright; selling everything and moving on and not looking back. The astute among you will pick up on key subtext within this paragraph. In the meantime I've still managed to slowly acquire some final bits for the car, but it feels nice knowing there's not much left to get and I'm almost across that finish line; I have almost everything I'll ever want for my interpretation and expression on what it is I think an R34 should be. 'til later.
    • Thanks for that, hadn’t used my brain enough to think about that.
    • Also playing with fire if they start to flow more air down low than what the stock twins can. It's not even up top you need to worry, it can be at 3000rpm and part throttle and it's getting way more flow than it should.
    • Any G40/1000 or G40/1250 results out there?
    • You still want a proper tune on the stock ECU though. Stock tune + stock ECU with GT-SS/-9s is probably playing with fire if you're running more than stock airflow/power.
