Is it just me or is the commy parked in by teh GTR? lol guess he mustn't drive it as much anymore.

But yeah, would be awesome to have an LS to daily and a VR for weekends.

I met this owner recently & he is a major Holden head (read HSV dealer) who needed to see what all the fuss was about.

Another Holden/HSV dealer I know well (on TV recently & loves to 'Cruze') is taking delivery of his new R35 GTR this week so it is interesting to see how Directors of other car dealerships are spending their hard earned money on new Nissans!!!

Go GTR..........

I have to say, I'm car enthusiast first, nissan enthusiast second. I love my nissans and have liked everyone single one I've owned, from a POS R31 5 speed 4 door that I bought for about 500bux, right through to the first 32 GTR I bought (and loved and still own) through 33GTRs, 34GTRs and even yes 35 GTR. I've also enjoyed my JDM 06 liberty GT (2l twin turbo), I love DC2 integra type Rs, and I'm about to import a 2004 JDM Honda Civic Type R for my gf and I as a daily. I love my RX7 and my silvia too. and I love my holdens and fords as well. hell I even love some euro junk. E30 M3 is up there with my favourite cars, love the old 840 BMWs, love old alfa. I just love cars. sure I have a particular soft spot for nissan product and R32 GTR skylines in particular but that doesn't stop me enjoying just about every car i've ever stepped into. I cannot stand people who seem to think that the particular car they own is the best car ever made and even worse is the ONLY car worth owning. that's not true. I say own and drive as many cars as you can, cause there's lots more good ones than bad ones out there.

Bout time someone said this. Agree 100%.

Definite golf clap Richard, well put.

Col: Me too mate, up until a few weeks ago. It's not a bad combo!

A picture says a 1000 words, and R35 GTR is a GIANT! :(

So Julian got a new set of wheels eh.... I do rate the 427!!!! I wonder what his opinion is on both?????

His garage looks like mine! (seriously).... I'm guessing inner city luxury townhouse!

Ah not quite, Julian has just got a white one to replace his white 997 GT3 which got stolen!

Bravo Richard, well said. Pity our sheds are not all bigger. If mine was I would go for :-

Mansory Vincero - Go The Carbon (But as there are only 3 I may have to put up with std Bugatti Veyron!!!)

Lamborghini Gallardo 560-4 ( Saw 3 of them last year at showroom in Dubai - pure porn on wheels)

Porsche 997 GT2 (what can I say - may be a GTR head but I still love hot porkers)

Mercedes Benz E63 in Black ( Something classy to take the family out to dinner in)

FPV F6 in Blue ( Home grown hero - if you haven't driven one you should - great drive)

Holden HKS GTS monaro ( bucket to drive, But I love looking at the old girl!)

my god if I actually had any space and any decent money I'd start with:

E30 M3 Evo - such a great car to drive. a mate has one in japan (they can drive LHD cars there) and I am insanely jealous)

Gallardo Superleggara (took one for a spin recently and the noise is just insane and all the little bits of carbon are awesome)

F360 Challange Straddalle (yeah getting on a bit next to a 430 but they are cool)

I would also re-buy pretty much every GTR I've owned to have at once the complete collection (i did have 32, 34 and 35 at one point but briefly)

I would keep the RZ RX-7 or maybe get a spirit R for something pretty much the same but a little different

I would get Hayashi-san at Garage Saurus to build be up a serious R32 GTR

I would get Nagata-san at Top Secret to build me something stupid, like the V12 Supra, or the V8 GTR he made etc. (though next to Saurus top secrets work looks a bit cheap, true).

I would have for track fun my little GTST with 2.2L SR20 with TD06 or 3037 making around 300rwkw, with sequential box etc. would be great fun, and LIGHT.

1980s Alfa GTV6, great car and amazing sound track

Get the DC2 type R in there, still a favourite drive

and the EP3 Civic type R (JDM model not sold in aus)

Then the old favourites, Lambo Countach in white of course

and a lamba Diablo SV. my god do they still have presence on the road. it has that do not fck with me look about it!

my "take the wife somewhere nice" would be an Aston Martin, V8 Vantage, just a nice car with nice engine note

and a Lotus Esprit S4S, one of my favourite looking cars.

I would also find the bloke that bought the 427 monaro for 1mil and promptly buy it off him. love that

a few other monaros in there to, including an HK for me too.

Ford Sierra Cosworth of 90s vintage, they were a weapon in their day.

and a 997 GT3 porsche for some winding road fun

ok, I've said too much! Basically my advice is drive as many cars as you can. if you have a mate with a cool car, ask for a steer! Pretty much anyone i meet if they seem sensible and trust worthy I will let them have a steer of any of my cars, because I love to share the driving experience. telling a bloke who loves cars how awesome your car is to drive is just cruel, but let him drive it and then talk to him about it and share that enjoyment. one of the best bits about owning a cool car is letting a mate drive it and watching his face as he first feels that thrust, or feels how sharp the turn in is, or how much grip it's got, or how nice it sounds at 6,000rpm etc.

so the two pieces of advice are, drive as many cars as you can, and let as many people as you can drive yours. both parts are equally rewarding.

Good advice^

Some friends I avoid letting drive my car/s because they aren't very sensible or they just plain don't know how to drive a manual properly. Others I have no hesitation about. And it is nice seeing someone else enjoy your car on the same level as you. Have had some trusting friends let me drive their cars and it's always nice when they bestowe that upon you.

Yep, its good to share (Cars that is) I took someone in my R35 the other day straight after getting the mid pipe fitted & let them have a go too. He was wrapped that I let him but you are right, why not.

Expensive car yards dont like it very much though!!! I have driven a number of Maseratis, Ferraris, Porsches, BMWs etc on the off chance I might like to buy one but mostly decided to stay with my Jappers - ha ha.

Agree about the Diablo - they just say &$^% off awesome looking cars.

Too many good cars out there - Not enough time (or money) I am trying to cut down anyway.

The cops are trying to cut us down too. I only had my R35 for 2 weeks before they decided to store it for me for 7 days!!!

When I went to pick it up from impound it was surrounded by VL & VNs with flat tyres & the GTR seemed quite happy to get out of there. I dont think it liked Hoon jail very much!

    • Biggest thing is you're okay!   It sounds like between the accident, and the drive home, it was a pretty torturous trip again! On the bright side, you took the opportunity to enjoy the event more from the perspective of a spectator, than as an entrant!   Sad to see so much damage to the car. It really has taken a HUGE hit in the front end. If/when you choose to repair, hopefully the rails are straight (At least from shock tower backwards). Hopefully the extra cage coming through there has save most of the chassis rails, and HOPEFULLY saved the motor too. Best of luck when you eventually get motivated to start pulling it down to check it all out
    • Sounds more like what Brad said, that it's mainly transfer. What pad bed in procedure did you use, and did you replace/machine the rotors, or just swap pads?
    • The stutter is almost entirely in the pedal. I don't feel the brakes release and reapply as you would with ABS engaging but the pedal feels that way, without the brakes releasing. It only lasts for less than a second and the pedal is fine again. It's hard to explain, sorry.  I'll get under this weekend and just double check everything is tight. Fluid is at max where I left it.
    • What bedding in procedure did you use?   When you say stutter, what exactly do you mean? Like it feels like someone letting go of the brakes momentarily and regrabbing them again to get you to stop? Re-reading your post, and that is what it kind of makes me think you're explaining, like theres a little bit of a jolt, likely just as you're reaching a stop. I've only had this issue once. And if its caused by what caused mine, you will want to get the car up on stands again and check it over. Mine was a case of a caliper mounting bolt coming out and letting the caliper rotate on the other remaining bolt and gave play in a wheel as it came to a stop. But not every stop either!
    • Yeop... binned it   This will be a summary will not many pics atm and cbf  Fixed the samsonas - it was totally munched Put a new precision 7675 T4 on with proper split pulse mani Got to Sydney to get to car - drove to canberra to get racecar - drive back to sydney that night Next day all day at Plasmaman putting on new clamps cleaning some things up and adding another large engine oil cooler sitting at the rear above diffuser to keep things cooler Next day - Tuesday - on Dyno - killer wikid awesome pumped out really good numbers - more mid range and on lower boost levels Wednesday - first prac - all day again getting the suspension right - had to borrow front suspension again - out do a lap come in - out do a lap - in - what i had just couldnt handle the load at the more consistent higher speeds - got a lap in at the end of the day that was pretty reasonable  Put it this way that lap wouldve had me in 4th in Pro am for the whole event - with only 700 hp and used tyres Thurs first official prac day - lap out warm up - then entered a hotlap with above setting and 80% effort took corners 1,2,3 and into 4 car felt awesome -  rear came around out of nowhere bang into the wall near front on at whatever 140 kmph Done, over, gone Just one of those how did that happen apparently as all indications show nothing out of the ordinary Got to spend the rest of the time at the event like I hadnt done before - was actually Ok mainly as I had my family and my boy is 9 and got treated like a rockstar Long trip home, lost a trailer wheel in nowhere land, X5 airbag suspension gave up half way across nullabour and rode on bumps stops (its now completely fine) had to do a 19 hr drive day on day 3 as accommodation got screwed up so just had to keep driving till found a town with some Now to reassess - hopefully the motor and other things are OK but yet to be seen too. There is no easy fix there is no i'll just order that part and get it sent - we'll have a talk to people see what can happen and what the go is but at minimum its rebuild from scratch struts forward and alot of time effort and $ should and if I return and if but maybe/ when  I have the cage tied into the front strut towers - if I didnt have that things couldnt been worse you can say its just a front end but if you know what goes into these cars... you'll know what that actually means in reality   Car was very fast. Disappointing we just didnt get to show it Effort doesnt win you races though     Apparently this is motorsport !
