Sau Nsw Oran Park South Track Driver Training Day

Recommended Posts

oh my god....el presidente that was a massive stealth one........nobody saw it........ill just drive back on the track and nobody will notice lol.

I'd like to thank everybody that helped on the day,,,Especially Ando and the boys for scruting all the cars,,,TOP job fellas,,,thank you very very much. Sorry I couldn't help,,but my usual pit crew had his own car there,,,(how bloody rude). Kel for her mercy dash to get the lanyards,,,Matt,,,Nick,,,Duncan,,,Stuarts use of his 4wd,,,the list goes on. Garry Baxter and his son for a great laid back track day. It's a real pity we can't use him again. Yes Ben his breifings are boring but it is driver training after all. I'd be shocked if the majority didn't actually learn something. I did,,,stay off the ripple strips idiot.

Here's a vid of my crappy driving,,,I don't think I have ever made so many fundimental mistakes in my life. I think I'm damn lucky to still have a straight car.

Neil.

OK you asked for it... Here is a Video Movie Trailer for the day.

I haven't had a lot of time to put too much finish on it, but so far it looks pretty good.

(oh, and be sure to watch all the way to the end.. there is a nice surprise for those that wait for the credits)

hehe

Well done Neil, Duncan, and others for organsing and running this day. Good roll up after all. Neil crazy spin on the dog leg, did you hit the ripple strip? I did and cracked my gear box, as staddled the dog leg and hit cooling fins we had welded to the gear box. It atualy cracked the case we found out when loading on the trailer. I lost 5 th gear so finished early, lucky I did as losing fluid.

Good to catch up with Nick ( Blitz ) and others have not seen in a while.

Duncan very good time 47 secs considering conditions.

I see Noddy made it home and yes big trip for a quick play. A very quick car.

Saw some crazy having a big go in silver R31. Looked like he was trying to really cook his brakes and brake them? Doing lap after lap with brakes on fire? Did you drive it home? Good to see someone having a big go.

White VR station wagon was also crazy, what happened to it and did you get any oil on the track?

Sad day no more Oran.

VR wagons are the new Stagea :P

It threw one (possibly two) rods due to being on the rev limit for two sessions (about 6 laps haha) due to the auto gearbox having died.

I don't think I got oil on the track. Tried hard not to.

the master cylinder on my car is stuffed, had sfa pedal pressure, was fun trying to slow the car down but. I don't have a silver R31 but. Think I was the slowest car that was pushing it hahaha

*edit* haha I made it onto the trailer, epic body roll

i dont think there was a silver r31 unless he's talking about liams white over silver silo

and its good to see i didnt make it in the trailer playing in the mud, without proof it never happened

hahah nice video eric, only thing is the Title of it at the beginning, It is Skylines Australia, but its the NSW chapter, lets not give the other SAU guys a big head claiming the video for themselves (especially after the storm whipped parras ass, there heads down in vic are big enough as it is lol)

Fantastic video so far Eric! Especially the part at 2:36

Alrighty, the stats are in!

11.3GB of images to sift through tomorrow because i'm shooting again in a few hours today. - i'm gonna be busy for a while. :O

First of all, very special thanks to Duncan & Neil for organising the day and special thanks to Mr Baxter for running the day special thanks to Mrs De Pau for lunch. :)

I have to say that everyone drove really well and didn't mis-behave. :)

I'll be back in a few days with images. :)

Hurry up you!!! :(

Yep, I'd also like to add a special thanks to Kel, John (kuma j), Matt (MBS206), Matt (Cassbo- between his sideways and off-track excursions, lol), and any and everyone else who helped out with the day - without the help of extra volunteers both in the lead-up to and at all the events we hold, these days would not run so smoothly! If I've forgotten you, I apologise, but you know who you are! :P

Oi - back in your cage with that Stagea comment! :P

I've gotta say a massive congratulations to my little sister Rosie in the dark blue Spazda3 - this was her very first track day, and she did it in APPALLING conditions, had a slight off early in the piece (as per Jim's photo below), got right back "in the saddle," and surprisingly carried really good speed all day in a standard car!

Can i just say a massive bigs up to Andymoomoo and Clapa (VZSS) for helping me out scruting and getting thru the cars! You guys handle stickers n paperwork like no other pimp!! :P

I want evidence of all stories and epic fails (yes including yours matt cass)

No worries at all my good man, happy to help out. We got there, ditched my old man and helped scrutineer, poor fella, he felt so neglected :( HAHAHAHAHA

Just hope someone can read all my scribbles on the paperwork....... :(

SWEET DAY!!!

Just heard about the accident with the go karts.

A kid stacked it and split his cheek, knocked out from the impact. His helmet was full of blood and when his father came to see how he was, passed out from seeing the blood and injured himself also.

Both were transported to hospital. Not sure of condition of either since then.

SWEET DAY!!!

Sorry to drag you away from Peter champ..... the whole day kicking off was literally in the hands of scruitineering. Gary was asking me every 30 mins when it would be done so we could kick off briefing, but getting thru 40 or so cars by 1 person just held things up. So having you and Clapa just assisted in speeding things up somewhat. :P

    • ok so if i wanted to go 18's i would go for 8's  in front 30+ or 32+ off set at front and the back 9 would be ok? what offset should i aim for.. then can i do some  hunting for wheel rim choices..    If i get this - will this fit all around: Size: 18 x 8.5 +37 - n what tyres size tyre should i get for front n back?
    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
