Hey guys

dropped my car on sunday morning to get the FMIC kit fitted in.

Heres some progress atm

Basicly the kit is a full custom job that'll be a production version later on

we have made this kit so it needs no cutting and in the front bar and the reo bar

also used a thinner fan for the a/c side.

pics will show much more.

apparently 2 versions will be available

premeium kit and the non premeium kit

price will be 500-700 depending on the kit

here are some pics now

Looks very pretty Danny.

So is that a 600x300x76 core?

hmm, would like a larger thero fan than that, how thick is the fan you used?

Is the Premium using their GT tube and fin core and the non-Premium using their Bar and Plate core?

noice!

There's a bit more room in there compared with an s2 or s1

Is that 100mm core?

There is only that much room because the OE thero fan has been replaced.

No chance of a core that size otherwise.

wouldnt the premium have the bar and plate??

Nah. 'tis all in the design!

Have a look at the HDi website and compare the GT core with the Monster Bar & Plate core.

I would imagine that these are the two cores that are in the premium and non-premium kits.

If you could not be stuffed surfing their site, the attachment below is a screen dump from their site... check the pressure loss comparison.

Just got to figure out where to put the gearbox cooler though. Danny we need to catch up again so I can do some measurements.

P.S. As Dale said "Thanks for all the help spending our money".

Yeah right, there are s2 m35's? :mrt:

im not sure if that was sarcasm, but yes there are S2 M35s! they are a PM35 whereas our current M35s are an NM35, but the N means 4WD.

no VQ25DET was available as it wouldnt pass emissions. Right now there are people attempting compliance for them.

And yes, they are different, slightly, like the subtle differences between an S1 and S2 C34

Not slightly enough as far as I am concerned.

But you have sorted it out now?

No. Bonnet need modification.... and I need a grill (Dolphin one is $400!!!).

Looking like a more expensive conversion than I estimated :mrt:

Have a couple of other purchases that require attention before the front (including this HDi kit, methinks :) ), but will have pics when I do it.

    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
