Hey Brad, I'll shoot you a PM in a couple of months and if you still have it we can go from there. I'm just in the middle of paving out the back so have no funds, but it doesn't stop me from dreaming. rolleyes.gif

What model is it and price etc - would you send to Perth? Send me a PM if you wish.

Anyway, enough welding talk and more welding action....here are some photos of some recent work.

I am doing some standard replacement parts for VL's (under a new business name, Red Star Fabrications) at the moment as well as custom made aluminium parts for the engine bay. In order of the pics, they are:

- fuse box cover

- power steering fluid canister

- fuse box replacement catch can and surge tank

- mixed bag of goodies lol

I will be doing some other goodies as well. I have custom made catch can to sit inline with the bottom of the radiator, custom made intercooler with diffusers in the end tanks, replacement fuel tank, complete one-off rb26 intake manifold.......so keep an eye on this thread. This is just the beginning of new things to come :action-smiley-069:

Happy welding,

Ariel

and last but not lease, please, please do not ever charge a cusgtomer if you weld like this. This customer has come to me for his 3rd intake manifold. The previous have both cracked and leaked!!!

They have more problems then that, the plenum split. I just got pics.....hardly any penetration of the material. Poor material preparation, poor welding technique, not enough heat, material not cleaned before welding...the list goes on.............

I will be using 6mm and most probably making 2 passes over it, finishing it off with a weave or "walking the cup" style bead. I have done it before on another LPG plenum made of 10mm...that had 3 passes over it and turned out absolutely mint.

I can't deny that I have. Having said that though, this was all prior to me welding them which has been for the past 2 years or so.

I did make some design changes as well to help sort the problem out since it has only really happened to ones I was making some 4-5 years ago.

I actually offer a lifetime warranty as such to continue supporting my customer base.

Why do you ask?

yo ariel, how much do you charge for that catch can? (with slip on hoses, not threaded fittings) & do you still make the custom fuel rails to suit 14mm injectors? i think they can work with the neo injectors if you just get the right o ring & grommets in and it will fit. (another member did it with a HKS copy rail - are your designs same as the HKS one?) cheers

No worries BR, whenever you are ready, just let me know.

Elvis - catch can is $200. Not sure of what other memebers do, I don't really copy things. I can only make the rails for 11mm or 14mm oring injectors. I may need the complete manifold since it is a NEO and I dont have any of those handy.

    • Is the panel filter one that is oiled? Have you ever cleaned or touched the AFM?
    • So.... the K&N air box thingo was too big, ended up gifting it to a mate, well, by gifting it he actually supplied food and beer at the pub,  which was nice, as it will not sit on a shelf in the garage for the next 10 years I did trim up some of the existing stuff to neaten it all up and gave it some wrinkle paint, unfortunately it currently has a used and abused mish mash of different types of hose clamps, 4 big fat T bolt type (shit), and a few normal clamps of vairing sizes and brands, but..... only until the 6 constant tension black worm clamps that I ordered from EFI solutions turn up next week Currently the current hose clamps are triggering me hard, LOL Is this the final version, probably not, I really want just 2 silicone pieces, a straight bit of silicone from the filter to the MAF is easy and will happen as soon as I head into Just Jap tomorrow, the problematic part is a 30° silicone bend from the MAF to the TB that I can connect the engine breather from the head, I found that there are bulk head fittings for boat bilge pumps that should work, but until I can get a 30° silicone bend the alloy pipe, and the 11ty thousand hose clamps, are there for the foreseeable future 4 hose clamps are golden, 6 are grudgingly acceptable, the 8 currently holding it all together is just taking the piss    I've also ordered 60 more retaining wall blocks for the front yard, I mis-gonculated the height that was required to get above the base of the Photinia's (red robin's) that are the hedge behind the front fence, currently it is 2 blocks high, and about 1/2 a block short, so going 3 blocks high will be above the base of the red robin's, and allow some room for mulch
    • It is the stock air box with the panel filter. Everything else is stock except the exhaust at this point, as I also went back to the cleaned 270cc injectors. I will check the RPM when the IACV is unplugged and report back.
    • As MBS suggested if this is happening when the engine is cold you're going to want to remove the intake air regulator and verify resistance + that the shutter is physically opening and closing. At -20C should be fully open, 20C half open, over 60C fully closed. At 20C should be 70-80 ohms. For AAC valve testing using a Consult cable see if you can raise and lower the idle by commanding more or less AAC duty cycle. Hopefully it's pretty linear as well, shouldn't be like 30% AAC valve is barely idling and 40% is 1500 rpm.
