Was coming home from work (shitty night shift I shouldn't have agreed to do) and was following this beat up old Commodore that could not stay in its own lane. It was swerving in and out and nearly ran off the road twice. Took the plates, drove home (was 1min away) and called the cops.

I know it was the right thing to do, but I still feel kinda shitty about it. Plus calling the cops is always intimidating as they take YOUR details too.

Anyone else do this? I've seen dangerous stuff on the road all the time, never bothered to call before. It was just that this guy (or girl) seemed absolutely wasted.

i live on a street known for speed runs. So i call to report often. But only recently have i seen a unmarked car sitting beside on of the factories down the road.

And one time going through Geelong a car full of bogan's drove past pointing a real looking toy gun at other car's, didn't think much of it. Until they pointed it at me and and did the asian eye thing to my partner.

So i rang the cops and gave them the details and followed them untill they turned off. Got a call a short while later telling me they picked up the car and it was only a toy gun but they did find other stuff in the car and the driver was drunk :) and thanked me for calling it in just incase :)

Good call.. :)

called in an arsonist (kid poured petrol over a tree set fire to it and ran away, stalked him to where he went and called the coppers). Never really been tempted to dob in a motorist though, regardless of how much of an arse they drive like.

Tried it on a couple of occasions. Cops not interested - "we have to see it", what a BS excuse.

One was a guy sucking on a VB while driving, other one was a pair of idiot bikers doing monos up Burwood Hwy.

...and if you catch it on mobile phone camera, you get charged for operating a mobile! :P catch-22

Actually a fellow Skyline enthusiast did the other day when we were parked at a local cruising spot talking, and a random commodore pulled up and threw water bombs at our Skylines. My other mate and I weren't too worried, but as was pointed out we would have been pissed off if the balloons had had something in them or eggs. Lucky the cop was driving past 30 seconds later to wave down.

Don't feel shitty at all mate. You owe him/her no loyalty...you need to acknowledge this is someone who obviously doesn't give enough of a shit about your life or any elses to drive safely in the first place. The police are the law enforcers but communities working together have much more power - if everyone did what you did then the roads would be a much safer place. Most people including myself won't take a minute out of their day to do what's right for the community and report them. Don't worry about police taking your details: under the privacy act these will never be disclosed to anyone but law enforcement...even if you appear as a witness in court.

...thinking about my own hypocricies at the time before I do it - but YES. :P

Hahaha hypocrisy being the defining characteristic of a human being, you'll never pefect anti-hypocrisy anyway so just make the call without thinking :P

I was going to dob some idiot for pulling out infront of me one night, so I got a bit closer to their rear to kinda signal "Hey! Speed up!"

And the ppl in the back seat through cigarette wrapping and I was gonna call EPA, but let it off cuz I CBF doing all the paper work on line for it.

On another issue, my sister was cut off while driving and hit the curb.

She chased after the car to get the number plate and the driver said he "did not see her" when she pulled up next to him...

Bloody bullshit! Damn FOB's gota learn to drive.

So I went with her to the cops and reported the number plate.

I guess from now on if I see ppl doing stupid shit, just report them to the EPA and make'em do an exhaust test, just to give them the shits.

Haha!

yeah man. f**k them. if they want to endanger innocent peoples lives then they can suffer the consequences.

The other day 2 idiots in an old shit bomb car were clearly drunk on a weekday afternoon. They were swerving, nearly ran into the back of my car, mounted kerbs because they could not control the car.

I called the police to give them the cars details. I also followed the car (to see where they were going so the police could attend) but once they saw me follow them they took off even faster and nearly lost it around a busy intersection. I didn't bother following them after that.

Don't feel bad.

I call the EPA all the time for smokey Vehicles.

Get the EPA doing some real work rather than chasing cars that are tuned BETTER than factory emissions :(

Same...i call the Water Waster's hotline all the time. The muppets in my court wash their car, spray the kids and leave the hose running all the time :D;)

i got some ethnic's (no other way of putting with out singling out a race so deal with it) next door and for some reason they like to hose there driveway down!

i called water dudes 3times, they go 1 warning and 2fines. they haven't done it for a while now, stupid fools never heard of a broom!

u guys are ALL fried... if u get an EPA letter u ball your eyes out but u would call EPA and dob someone in

fair enough if they are drunk or being stupid but if theres some smoke coming out the exhaust maybe they cant efford a car u dipshits

thats my opinion. .. yours might be different but if ur the type that gets a giggle or a thrill at someone else's expense then i have no respect for u

i have followed a few people after they cut me off, made sure they got the message. a loud horn is so handy.

have yet to call the police considering i would hate it if someone called them on me. however, if it was clear a driver was drunk or highly confused (wrong side of road etc) i would.

Sami, your an idiot.

And who cares if they can't afford a new car? They are driving a shit box with smoke coming out of everywhere.

If they have the right to to call hoon hotline or report any skyline to the EPA because they see a young driver behind the wheel.

I think we have the right to report who is actually in the wrong. I think thats pretty fair.

    • Apologies for the long post, but needed somewhere to lay out the entire timeline of events and actions taken:   I've got an 89 GTR with a R34 RB in it. It's been running great all year, driven probably 500KM in the last month. It's not my daily driver, just a weekend fun car.    Build info: R34 RB26 - HKS 2.7 stroker kit, HKS adjustable cam gears, HKS turbo upgrades, Trust intercooler, R34 factory DENSO 440cc injectors, JUN chipped/tuned R32 ECU. All of this work was performed in Japan back in 2019.    Thursday 10/2/25 - It's a nice day and decided I'll drive it to work, I start it up in the garage and I notice it took a few extra cranks and sounded a bit funny. I figure maybe it was just because it was a pretty chilly morning. I pull it out into the driveway to warm up a bit before leaving. As I leave the driveway, it feels very off and sounds like a misfire. I pull it back in the garage to deal with after work and take the daily to work. I was able to diagnose it as a cylinder 5 misfire with the old spark plug test (unplugging each plug until a sound change with the engine running). I take off the whole ignition system, ignitor, plugs, spark. *Important note, it is still on the R32 ignition system with the separate ignitor system. I test each system with a multi-meter and nothing presents as a smoking gun. I put it all back together and it starts up no issue. I go ahead and order the PRP R35 ignition conversion kit. It should arrive today (10/13/25)   Friday 10/3/25 - Another nice day, car starts up great and drives great all day. Very pleased that everything seems to be OK   Sunday 10/5/25 - Decided I'll take it to play some golf, load up and drive to the course about 25 minutes away. Drives wonderful the whole way there, I pull in the parking lot and the engine completely comes to a stop. I do not recall if it sputtered at all, but just remember all of the sudden the engine was off. I roll it into a parking spot, try to crank it back on and nothing.  It'll crank and crank and not even try to start. End up getting it towed back to my house and push it up into the garage.    Items I have checked: Fuel in the tank Fuel Pump relay Fuel pump fuse  Spark Plugs & gap Coil packs Ignitor    I know the cylinders are getting fuel as the plugs smell like fuel after a start attempt. I tried spraying starter fluid into the manifold and cranking and not even a sputter.    I decided to do the live CAS test (removing the the CAS, ignition on and spinning the CAS stalk to see if the injectors pulse and spark is active). All of the injectors were pulsing and I have spark at the plug. The half-moon end of the CAS did seem very loose, I'm not sure how much play is supposed to be there, but it was more than I expected. There was no in/out play of the shaft, just the tip end that is pinned on had quite a bit of play.    CAS Play video   When I put the CAS back in, I stupidly did not re-time the engine. I know I need to do that tonight, however, I do not think it will start given it seemingly was not the issue. My plan is to do the PRP R35 coil kit and retime the engine at the same time.    I plan on ordering the Haltech Nexus Plug-in ECU once they are available again, but ideally would like to get this sorted before firing the parts cannon at it and potentially adding more variables.    Anything glaring that I am missing here, I'm a bit at a loss?
    • Get it on a dyno. Get something logging Consult. Run it up and find out what is causing it.
    • Looking for a plenum for rb25 de+t neo  Not looking to push much power maybe 300kw at the wheels, is there much difference in flow for Freddy “Greddy style” compared to original Greddy or options like Proflow or Otaku garage?    I won’t be porting the de Neo head for now as I think it’ll be fine 280-300rwkw but appreciate the help and any experiences anyone has between them and any advice. Thanks  Looking at this plenum for now below
