good stuff damo... niggling problems are the worst... you'll get there...

thanks mate yea i hate the niggling problems. i get paid to work on niggling shitty problems so the less with my own car the better.

well a bit of progress has been made in finding the actual problem with the engine.

this is mainly theoretical at this point and ill post up the problem-cause-solution once we get it sorted to help guide people in the right direction.

on thing i can tell you is this engine should be seeing a new turbo sooner than first thought.

what did you make to allow the use of the whiteline spherical linkages on the rear swaybar/arms?

i havent made them work yet. but the idea was to cut and shut the stock rear LCA and basically just use 2 bits or RHS welded to the LCA with adjustable holes to suit the adjustable sway bars.

no simple answer realy

ahh don't worry about the first day blues....it almost always takes somewhere between "a couple" and "a few" days to get things running properly.

Mine has been 5 years and counting....damn close to perfect now though :)

got some pics from the past few weeks.

first i made the new dash cluster above.

then i made a new gauge holder to go where the centre vents go to hold the Apexi RSM for my speed read outs and a HKS exhaust temp gauge that didnt quite fit in with all the other gauges.

DSC03051.jpg

DSC03053.jpg

and just before anyone asks i like having a miss match of gauges. its a bit like my rim choice. anybody can buy a set of somthing but it takes time to acquire individual items to make a set.

DSC03055.jpg

DSC03104.jpg

i used my old aluminum cluster as a skeleton for the new carbon one then i layed the carbon over the frame and worked out where i wanted everything. once again the carbons on an angle as i dont like things to be to normal.

DSC03024.jpg

In the weeks leading up to the motorkhana i had some thinking time so i pulled out all my bars

DSC03005.jpg

i had decided to turn the type M bar into my custom TA bar as it has far bigger side openings than the GTR bar. the idea was to make a lower lip and attach it all to a splitter/ under tray. but before work could begin on the type M bar i brought this.

DSC03102.jpg

my New daily. pretty stock and in average nick inside and out just what i was after.

DSC03099.jpg

Ben inspecting the power house. he loves 20s. if you look you can see the list that i started for what needed to be achieved over the queens birthday long weekend

DSC03032.jpg

we gutted the inside and fitted a ton of new trims. all gathered up out of our supplies between 4 friends.

DSC03041.jpg

to top it off it got GTR front and read seats. brand new gear and hand brake boots. original gear knob. near new centre trim. new cluster. new cluster surround. new LH vent. new glove box. new centre console lid (thanks race car) a new door trim and one new complete door. some speaker covers and a greddy a pillar gauge holder with HKS boost gauge. the type M bar and a spare de-spoilered boot lid are off getting ready for paint. some 4 door pods are also due to arrive soon.

DSC03110.jpg

there is a few small plans in store for this car but it will all come in time. we had some spare time tonight so ben and i fitted one of his spare exhausts up as the one on the car was cheap rubbish and droned like an excel.

DSC03111.jpg

while the exhaust was off i found that the cat had been gutted and a straight pipe welded in so we will be changing that back to a stock item soon.

Those CST's look awesome on your car you definitely need some more for the front.

On another topic, you look way more gay in photo's than in real life which is strange because it's often the opposite.

I love stirring Damo up but you've got to hand it to the guy he has some very impressive skills in the diy stakes and comes up with original ideas for his car. That dash really is porn and I bet a lot of others will start mounting their power fc controllers like that. Keep up the good work Damo.

your name is Richard. you cant get much more gay than that...... ive tried...... and you just cant.

p.s. that vid of you, your favourite, that was sick! car sounds great

thanks mate. i love where the car is heading and i usually live under that rule that its better off to be going and competing in events than sitting in the shed waiting to be finished, so its a never ending project.

thanks for the Props Homo. i have had people complement the car saying its uniquely styled in the past. its not exactly what i envisioned sometimes either but its what i can make myself in my shed so thats all that counts.

And unfortunately the CST's have to go to make way for other things.

And to actually update this thread i have a new date to fix everything up ready for another crack at drifting. September 11th. apparently there is a major one off drift event being held with extra stuff on the side so ill be aiming for it.
