just added sau to the cacti instance at work and set it to graph http and tcp response times.... i'll send you some results tomorrow if you like.

***scratch that****

looks like i have proxy issues and cant get cacti to reach it... might take me a day to fix it.

yeah as far as I can tell, it takes a long time to respond between 10am and 12am, the data eventually comes through, so I'm guessing its a database/software issue than a connectivity issue.

good to see its not just me, i was beginning to lose my shite @ our server setup... thinking it was at fault :(

It really is a random thing, it went all slow for me about 5mins ago and its late.

i get it every time i load SAU. page will be blank and say loading for about 30sec when it use to load straight away. surfing through threads is alright. lil laggy but not too bad just the start up thats bad for me

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this...

it seems to happen around 4:30 on the dot... for me, it happens at other times too, but I am using a proxy to get here as work has blocked it but won't admit it... so it could be a number of things. But every afternoon, around 4:30, I leave SAU cause it doesn't respong for some time...

Christian, if you don't mind me asking, what kind of costs do you incur hosting this website? And what kind of traffic does it normally see? A PM is fine if you like.

I recommend all the people complaining about the lag to please donate money to SAU. Australian servers cost a lot more than american servers and thats the only solution to get everyone quick page loads.

Open up your wallets people! Barely anyone who posted in here have a 'donated' tag under their avatar.

ok post 2.0 (first one got lost after i hit the add reply button and the site crashed)

it took me 3 mins to get into this thread last time, and took me 5 mins this time. the site keeps coming up with a notice saying that the connection was reset. it hasn't been getting really bad. i've had it happening all day at work and it's even worse tonight. it is completely random. i opened up a few windows today (about 6 i think) and only 1 of them loaded, the rest crashed, and then the one that did open crashed when i tried to submit a post. yesterday the site only had a few downtimes, but today i'd say i've had it crash 4 or 5 times an hour. sometimes (like at the moment) it will crash, then come good, then crash again within 20 seconds of coming good again. over the last few days it was just hanging and taking ages to load but today it has been coming up with the error i said before about the connection being reset. i did have 1 UPS error or whetever it's called pop up, and i've also had some pages load with a shortened web address at the top of the page in the title box thingy. so at the moment this page has "site hard to load? - skylines australia - mozilla firefox" but a few times it's had the web address in there. also sometimes tonight when it has crashed and i've hit refresh it's come up with a box asking me if i want to save a file or open it and asking what program to open it with. the file usually says the thread name and has the file type .info (i think).

ok, lets try this again

*crosses fingers and hits add reply after copying this reply incase i need to post it again

Donations are disabled at present, have been since last year due to other issues we were having with the entire system :P

Will be fixed shortly, it's my next "to-do" item!

    • Then, shorten them by 1cm, drop the car back down and have a visual look (or even better, use a spirit level across the wheel to see if you have less camber than before. You still want something like 1.5 for road use. Alternatively, if you have adjustable rear ride height (I assume you do if you have extreme camber wear), raise the suspension back to standard height until you can get it all aligned properly. Finally, keep in mind that wear on the inside of the tyre can be for incorrect toe, not just camber
    • I know I have to get a wheel alignment but until then I just need to bring the rear tyres in a bit they're wearing to the belt on the inside and brand new on the outside edge. I did shorten the arms a bit but got it wrong now after a few klms the Slip and VDC lights come on. I'd just like to get it to a point where I can drive for another week or two before getting an alignment. I've had to pay a lot of other stuff recently so doing it myself is my only option
    • You just need a wheel alignment after, so just set them to the same as current and drive to the shop. As there are 2 upper links it may also be worth adding adjustable upper front links at the same time; these reduce bump steer when you move the camber (note that setting those correctly takes a lot longer as you have to recheck the camber at each length of the toe arm, through a range of movement, so you could just ignore that unless the handling becomes unpredictable)
    • I got adjustable after market rear camber arm to replace the stock one's because got sick of having to buy new rear tyres every few months. Can anyone please let me know what the best adjustment length would be. I don't have the old ones anymore to get measurements. I'm guessing the stock measurement minus a few mm would do it. Please any help on replacing them would be fantastic I've watched the YouTube clips but no-one talks about how long to set the camber arm to.
    • Heh. I copied the link to the video direct, instead of the thread I mentioned. But the video is the main value content anyway. Otherwise, yes, in Europe, surely you'd be expected to buy local. Being whichever flavour of Michelin, Continental or Pirelli suits your usage model.
