the lovely thing about skylines is that it could be SO MANY things..

Such fond memories of driving in the middle lane in heavy traffic at 100km/hr on the ring rd.. down the hill after Sydney rd.. ***STALL**.. sheeeet! Trying to restart and change to left lane safely at same time... while rolling down the hill at 100km/hr.. FARK it's almost funny now.. lol. Managed to get it to start before the bottom of the hill.. Think I lost a few years off my life tho..

OH PS that one was from dodgy AFM

by pumping the accel all you do is open the throttle body to let air in

so if the AAC is toast or gunked up etc then it may not let enough air in, and opening the throttle body, effectivetly does this

iac - idle air control

aac - auxiliary air control

those big halogen out door ones are LOUD. threw one into the skip at work, though its just gona crack.

throw it in, BANG! fkn shat a brick

in other news, had person with me today in my car, they go to to fiddle with the centre vent (they wanted the ac on) and the whole thing just crumbles....

now to buy a secondhand one..

Those can be epic fun. Me and a couple mates have smashed a few of em across eachothers heads after losing bets

only on starting or when driving? accelerating or slowing down? 2 yrs, did you post in the tech/maintenance section yet? :P Lots of ppl have these problems with stalling

unr33l if you're bored u should have gone to meeting!

Dammit didn't think of that!

we used to hit each other with those plastic cricket bats. we wore shin pads for safety though.. even tho we smashed each other over the arm, back etc

damn we were stupid

my car struggles on start up too, all i do is pump the pedal once though, all good on idle

Stalling in my experience could be.. fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel lines, coil packs, AFM, spark plugs, AAC valve as above.. lol there's more that's the short list. Bloody Nissan imports with their constant 'issues'...

I know!

It has been doing my head in for couple of days, but I have trouble giving it up and get something 'sensible' cos it consists of me better off cutting my penis and balls.

mmm watch thread enticing me to buy watch >_<

Anything worth getting around the $500 - $1500 mark?

Some ive stumbled across, but i got no idea whats good :domokun:

Give me your airbox. Ill give you an Apexi airpod for it.

mohsen theres both uni and tafe there but mech engineering is at uni, I used to go there. I hope unlike me, you'll spend your time in lectures/tutes and not on the 3rd floor at the cafe playing pool.

Oh and for quality rmit chickitas, hit the arts/music/business etc buildings across the road

cant go wrong playing pool mate

got me through 2 years of mech eng at rmit city :P

lol @ someone paying $250 for these! You could make the light up panel for cheaper than that. Ever seen these before Shan?

but none of those have a sole part in cold/hot start

all of those are used in engine oepration, but dont have a sole purpose in cold/hot start

ie if the AFM is toast the car would do other wierd shit

likewise for fuel pump, throttle body, injectors, coils etc

Quality

All these people whinging about idle/start up problems, my car must've been solid, never once had any issues with anything like that..

none of my AC vents have cracked nor has my dash bubbled up. It has been sitting outside for 5yrs in the sun and its good as the day i picked it up.

Although mines a 1993 October, last build date, so they may have made some improvements by then?

Hopefully the dreaded dash bubble doesnt emerge!

    • When you pulled it off, there is no signs of blown head gasket? Is it possible you have some other issues going on? Possible cracked blocked? Or do you think it's straight up lifting the head? Did you check what the head was torqued to before pulling it down (To see if possibly they're stretching, or starting to break threads out etc)?
    • Seems like a decent result for a modded JZX110. They are bulky in comparison to the 100 and 90 models (which I'd prefer myself) but they are getting very few and far between here in JP these days. Thanks for the detailed review and the import process into the UK. I also have a car which I'm hoping to export from Japan at some stage so it's good to know if someone from the UK was interested in it. By the way the corrosion underneath is par for the course for cars which were located in/near the mountains or along the Japan sea coastline. They get huge amounts of snow every winter and the sodium chloride is used on the roads. Many cars have some kind of rubber like treatment underneath but they tend to limit it to the wheel arches underbody and fuel tank. Suspension arms and sub-frames will have similar corrosion to your JZX110 which is a common sight. See it all the time and car dealers here generally don't even mention it unless asked.
    • If the sound goes away when you clutch in, the 1.5/2 way diffs are just shit, and you are a normal person. The diff is likely "fine" but driving at anything under 30kmh is a violent horrible experience. It would be exaggerated with solid diff bushings and subframe bushings if you have those.
