They have two, inside and outside.

I think the old K-Sport, G4 or ATTKD calipers look to be a better thing over the new K-Sport. The big open bridge does little to make me think when hot and the driver is standing on them they dont bend like a cheap hooker. Admittedly that statement is based 100% on looks and no experience, so its dangerous advice :nyaanyaa:

You can see the old calipers had to the twin bridge bolts (8 pot fronts)

Where as the new calipers only have a single bolt and far more open bridge design (12 pot fronts)

The pads for the GTR Brembos are mostly cheaper then the 8/12 pot China calipers as well

The GT-R Brembo's at way over priced 95% of the time. But if you keep your eye out you can get a bargan, yahoo auctions japan is a good place to look for them.

And as roy said, compare pad and rotor prices, and avalibility. My 996 Porsche 6 pots were cheap as chips, but the pads cost almost as much as the caliper to replace.

How much? The 2500s are rubbish, the 3000s are rubbish. You can get the 2500s for US$210 delivered. The DS3000s were almost double that :)

If i need pads i always buy them from Japan or the US. Locally they are a flaming rip off (as good 'ol Alf would say)

I am curious to hear what people think of Performance Friction PFC97s. You can get them for about US$300 delivered (F40/50, so Nissan OE Brembo will be cheaper) Cheaper then the the DS3000s, i thought they were a great pad, but i have not put a whole lot of kms on them to know what the wear is like. But by all reports they were very well, have low rotor wear to boot. But i have driven on them and i like them.

So, curious to hear some other people trying them out. I will try some PF Carbon Metallic Z-Rated next time round, as I am hoping with the 343mm rotor and lil GTSt i can get away with a good street performance pad.

The problem I have (well, one of many) is that for hillclimbs & driving on the road I need something that works from cold. So 3000's are no good. Where abouts in the US do you source the 2500's? I am sick of paying $400+ for the damn things.

DS3000's a SHIT. Are you for real?! lol, Roy, I'm beginning to wonder about you :)

I bought a spare front set and took them to Targa last year because I thought I may need them. Well, turns out I was wrong.

I put the Brembos and Ds3000's in August 2008, and the car has done approx 10,000 competetive kilometres since. The pads are a little over half worn, and the rotors have had one VERY light skim, like, 5 thou. That, my friends, is ecenomical braking :)

On my car the 3000s were noisy (cool because on the street i thought it sounded "Tough" :) ) and I just didnt like how the car stopped with them. The pedal on my car felt like a wooden plank. I only used the one set and never tried them again. So unless there was something strange about that particular set of pads (I doubt it) then i cant see why they are worth the high asking price. But plenty of people seem to be happy with them so?!?!?!?

I am going to send you a present ad you can tell me if you still like those crummy EYEtalian pads :)

DJ, you still on the same email?

oh hooray, i've got F40's on my gtst. I bet they arn't nealy as expensive as the Porsche 6 pots, i payed $850 for my last set of them (Hawk HT10), and Dad only paid $400 for his CSC pads (Hawk HT10).

I've only used Hawk and Pagid. Pagid are shit, they fall to peices when they get anywhere near low, havn't had that problem with the Hawks. And they eaily last all of targa on a fat GTR

try endless cc-rg? they work from 50 degrees up to 800 degrees.

Brembo are sooo $$$ for pads :)

i pay $280 for my endless cc-rg pads for my AP caliper, however there was about a 2-3week wait as they had to make them for me

That is the kit that is still being delivered at the moment - you so must be able to order 8 or 12 pots.

You'd obviously change the bolts that come with them as they don't have a good look, but otherwise they do seem very solid.

Chris (Scotsman) has run them on his car @ Winton i believe (R33 GTR), and said they were fine with his setup so at least initial testing would suggest they are not too bad at all.

Mick has a set to go onto his racecar, and I'm looking at a set also

I ran the stock Brembos on my R33GTR at the recent SAU NSW track day. I had the Project Mu HC+ pads in the front with AP600 brake fluid.

Had no breaking issues all day and pedal felt consistent. The pulled up quite well and anyone who went in my car with me on the day commented how well they pulled up. Pads weren't that expensive at $329

I haven't had time to check the wear rate on the pads or rotors yet. I still had the stock rotors on the front too.

But getting back to the original topic....I think if you can hunt down some well priced R33 GTR Brembos then they are a good option for about $1200 or less. I would go as far as saying hold off on buying brakes until you find a set at the right price.

Since you have an R33, which already uses a 296mm rotor, the thing will be ok with the right pads and some brake deflectors off the GTR installed from the front bar and on the castor rods. In Vic you have tracks like Sandown and Calder which are between 65-85 secon laps with some BIG stops. I found NSW tracks were kinder on brakes, not sure how QLD tracks rate.

Can get 8, 10 or 12 for the front sets,

or 4 or 6 for the rears.

Plenty of people have said that they work really well,

the 8 pot G4/D2/Attkd calipers take an AP 6 pot pad.

I was looking at the 330mm 8 pot ones for my car, but decided that 2k for a setup that isnt much bigger than the 33 gtst standard setup isnt worth it, if I change to 18" wheels I would grab the 356mm kit in a heartbeat.

precisely what i paid for a full set of fronts and rears Roy.

Good pads (hawks) and good fluids and they are the ducks nutz on a gtst.

the rotors are bigger, the pads are bigger and the car is lighter so its win win win.

Qld raceway is all about go fast stop hard, go fast stop hard. they get plenty of punishment there and they never complained once. Even after 20 hot laps on the national track.

    • The average previous owner for these cars were basically S-chassis owners in the US. Teenagers or teenager-adjacent. I often tell people that neglect is easier to fix than something that was actively "repaired" by previous owners.
    • Update 3: Hi all It's been a while. Quite a lot of things happened in the meantime, among other things the car is (almost) back together and ready to be started again. Things that I fixed or changed: Full turbo removal, fitting back the OEM turbo oil hardlines. Had to do quite a bit of research and parts shopping to get every last piece that I need and make it work with the GT2860 turbos, but it does work and is not hard to do. Proves that the previous owner(s) just did not want to. While I was there I set the preload for the wastegates to 0,9bar to hopefully make it easier for the tuner to hit the 370hp I need for the legal inspections that will follow later on. Boost can always go up if necessary. Fitted a AN10 line from the catch can to the intake hose to make the catchcan and hopefully the cam covers a slight vacuum to have less restrictive oil returns from the head and not have mud build up as harshly in the lines and catch can. Removed the entire front interior just shy of the dashboard itself to clean up some of the absolutely horrendous wiring, (hopefully) fix the bumpy tacho and put in LED bulbs while I was there. Also put in bulbs where there was none before, like the airbag one. I also used that chance to remove the LED rpm gauge on the steering column, which was also wired in absolute horror show fashion. Moved the 4in1 Prosport gauge from sitting in front of the OEM oil pressure gauge to the center console vents, I used a 3D printed vent piece to hold that gauge there. The HKB steering wheel boss was likely on incorrectly as I sometimes noticed the indicator reset being uneven for left vs. right. In the meantime also installed an airbag delete resistor, as one should. Installed Cube Speed premium short shifter. Feels pretty nice, hope it'll work great too when I actually get to drive. Also put on a fancy Dragon Ball shift knob, cause why not. My buddy was kind enough to weld the rust hole in the back, it was basically rusted through in the lowermost corner of the passenger side trunk area where the wheel arch, trunk panel and rear quarter all meet. Obviously there is still a lot of crustiness in various areas but as long as it's not rusted out I'll just treat and isolate the corrosion and pretend it's not there. Also had to put down a new ground wire for the rear subframe as the original one was BARELY there. Probably a bit controversial depending on who you ask about this... but I ended up just covering the crack in the side of the engine block, the one above the oil feed, with JB Weld. I used a generous amount and roughed up the whole area with a Dremel before, so I hope this will hold the coolant where it should be for the foreseeable future. Did a cam cover gasket job as the half moons were a bit leaky, and there too one could see the people who worked on this car before me were absolute tools. The same half moons were probably used like 3 times without even cleaning the old RTV off. Dremeled out the inside of the flange where the turbine housing mates onto the exhaust manifolds so the diameter matches, as the OEM exhaust manifolds are even narrower than the turbine housings as we all know. Even if this doesn't do much, I had them out anyways, so can't harm. Ideally one would port-match both the turbo and the manifold to the gasket size but I really didn't feel up to disassembling the turbine housings. Wrapped turbo outlet dumps in heat wrap band. Will do the frontpipe again as well as now the oil leak which promted me to tear apart half the engine in the first place is hopefully fixed. Fitted an ATI super damper to get rid of the worn old harmonic balancer. Surely one of the easiest and most worth to do mods. But torquing that ARP bolt to spec was a bitch without being able to lock the flywheel. Did some minor adjustments in the ECU tables to change some things I didn't like, like the launch control that was ALWAYS active. Treated rusty spots and surface corrosion on places I could get to and on many spots under the car, not pretty or ideal but good enough for now. Removed the N1 rear spats and the carbon surrounding for the tailpipe to put them back on with new adhesive as the old one was lifting in many spots, not pretty. Took out the passenger rear lamp housing... what do you know. Amateur work screwed me again here as they were glued in hard and removing it took a lot of force, so I broke one of the housing bolts off. And when removing the adhesive from the chassis the paint came right off too. Thankfully all the damaged area won't be visible later, but whoever did the very limited bodywork on this car needs to have their limbs chopped off piece by piece.   Quite a list if I do say so myself, but a lot of time was spent just discovering new shit that is wrong with the car and finding a solution or parts to fix it. My last problem that I now have the headache of dealing with is that the exhaust studs on the turbo outlets are M10x1.25 threaded, but the previous owner already put on regular M10 nuts so the threads are... weird. I only found this out the hard way. So now I will just try if I can in any way fit the front pipe regardless, if not I'll have to redo the studs with the turbos installed. Lesson learned for the future: Redo ALL studs you put your hands on, especially if they are old and the previous owners were inept maniacs. Thanks for reading if you did, will update when the engine runs again. Hope nothing breaks or leaks and I can do a test drive.
    • No those pads are DBA too  but they have colors too. I look at the and imo the green "street" are the best.
    • I’m not sure what happened I told them about sonic tunes free OTS tune and the next the I know .. I was booted..   To funny
