530 in the morning on the 29 dec 2009 on the way to work in the rain heading north in the right hand lane on the M1 at Springwood. I hit a patch of water on the road doing 100kph and it sent me sideways off the road and into a 20 meter high steel light pole, I kept spinning up the bank along the guard rail until I hit one of the rail posts which sent me spinning back onto the road.I walked away with a sore side and couldnt lift my arm higher than my shoulder for a week. $57000 to fix so they wrote it off.

Wasn't at the Springwood I live in. Glad you're OK.

This was my car earlier this year. Luckily for me I wasn't the driver. The car was stolen from my house and was going about 80km/h when it hit a prado head-on! obviously a write-off lol The driver was just barely alive only because he was drunk and high

was your car a 4dr r33?, its hard to tell. Did you get payed out?

yea it was a 4 door r33 and i got paid out $10k. minus $500 for excess and minus another $300 as I bought back the wreck from the insurance company. That was with 3rd party fire and theft with 'just car'. It only took 2 weeks for them to pay me out as well which I was very happy with :D

this is what happened after a nasho run a few years back. its my brother in laws car, we both worked for a demolition company at the time so we had a yard and a workshop to strip it (had a 2.5L import motor and dog box + suspension work). enjoy!

Wow, there are some nasty crashes in here...and a hell of alot of escape artists...

Here's (one of) mine, for which I was in the front passenger seat...I didn't buy any lotto tickets because I had a feeling I had used up all my luck on this one.

Not wrong you are one lucky guy, what happened?

Oops sorry, there is a bit of a pub story to go with that!

We were on a spirited midnight drive through a mountain pass in what used to be a 1.6 litre Pulsar (~165fwkw). Mate had just installed a rear sway bar, so he wasn't used to the oversteer in a FWD...driving way too fast for his ability. We slid out on a corner and he over-corrected (trust it to happen on a corner with no guard rail), then slid off the edge of the road / a hill into pitch blackness. I remember alot of darkness and alot of swearing. We rolled over 3-4 times down a hill and bounced off 2 trees, landing upside down. Ironically, the seatbelt started to slowly choke me, so it was a desperate scramble for the release buckle. I pulled out my phone to call a fire truck and dropped it onto the roof, which doesn't usually happen :)

I would have waited for the fire truck but I had no idea where we were and the fear of every action movie's upside down car fire/explosion scene made it very easy to snake crawl through the broken glass (didn't feel it cutting in!) and that rear window^^^. The ambos told us they had seen some bad accidents in their time and did not expect survivors when they rocked up to this one. I was at the gymnasium the next day though :(

from the pics i think i know exactly where this is - i've nearly put my skyline into the centre divide a few times in the wet, it has the poorest drainage around springwood.. that coupled with crap roads, its a death trap.. I can barely manage 80km/h in the wet going through springwood.

    • Given you're running a 2.8 and my 2.5 is not really like for like, I suspect there could be a bit more timing you could give it. What is the kW yield per degree you're putting through it? Here's my E85 map to give you an idea, where it was I could still get another 3~4kW per degree thrown at it.
    • It turns out that Setrab make a fan specifically for the oil cooler which is great and I've installed it with minimal swearing. I removed my 2x 12in push fans from the front of my aircon condenser and wired them into this. My main thermo fans kick on when I use the aircon anyway and would effectively already be working as puller fans through the condensor which is infront of the rad. The push fans (understandably) didn't really do much in the config they were previously in so now they're out. Now we're on to the "Oil fan doesn't really do much either!". Yes I'll duct it next if it does nothing in heavy use which it shouldn't. But hey, the object exists and fits great and is cool. Let me have this. The car is still in the "do my fittings leak oil now? do my wheels actually rub?" phase. I did a spirited drive on them and didn't hear or feel anything. Then I got back home and noticed there were grind marks on the inside of the rims, though I couldn't see where they were touching I got out the grinder and attacked the suspects. Note: I do not know how to use a grinder. Then I realised I had dragged my new rims across my concrete driveway before I did this drive. I didn't think I had damage at that time when I briefly looked...... but remembered this occurred after I did all the angle grinding. The grinding on the wheels in some very specific spots. It's not around the whole rim for example, which lines up with dragging it across concrete more than hitting a suspension component for even 1 full rotation. So everything is currently painted and taped up and I need to test it some more to see if it really IS rubbing, but from inside the car it doesn't feel like it is. In other news I attempted to do a before and after comparison of the heads/cam upgrade thing. Dynos lie, everything is in different measurements. Here is the data from the sandown back straight. Car go faster than before. Vroom vroom.
    • Here's my base ignition. +3 correction to redline when shooting water/meth which is always on. Looking at my old ignition table, I should be able to add 1-2 degree's next time I'm on the dyno.  Let me know your thoughts.
    • Given what I know now - same haha, but this was 12 years ago with second hand 740cc Nismo injectors in my S15 daily, I was too busy hunting elsewhere for the issue to even look at the injectors, running through some cleaner was a happy coincidence haha
    • Not a terrible idea. But if I ever had concerns that my injectors were sufficiently dirty to be causing me a problem, they would be out of the engine and onto the actual injector cleaner/testing bench.
