also what difference did the plenum spacer make Dunc - i should probably invest in one of those and leave it on the shelf for two months also :P

I didnt notice the hugest difference with the fmic on a stock turbo.. in fact during the day a slight bit of lag , but a definate improvement at night.

Yeah, bucketloads more torque in the midrange, there's heaps more with my new exhaust, so this is just the cherry, on the icing, on the cake :P . Only had about 40km of diving so far, I'll be driving to work tonight; that'll be a better test.

Jetwreck's your man, but I don't know if he has any left :P .

Cool thanks .. hope hes got some left :S

yeah the dump and full exhaust mod in one go was the biggest improvement my car has seen in performance thus far.

Went to start mine today - it's absolutely DEAD! The fuel pump wouldn't prime, and the alarm/immobiliser wouldn't even turn off.

The battery is fine, but there must be a major issue with the alarm or something. I drove it on Saturday night, it started fine when I was leaving home, but would barely crank when I went to leave my cousin's to come home again. :) Hmmm, if tomorrow is the same (weirder things have happened), it's time to call Unigroup to see if there's a mobile sparky they can recommend.

He wouldn't let me near his turbo and yours is a long way away...

I had MY spare turbo rebuilt with a Sierra Stage 1 kit..

It will be interesting to see the difference it makes.

Took the front guard inner lining off to run some wires on the 25G. Down the bottom of the guard back towards the A pillar

was chock full of wet mud, so today cleaned out both sides. There was a good double handfull of mud in both sides that were making a very nice rust inducing enviroment. Had done the RS a couple of years ago.

test fitted my wheels! (18 x 9.5 +20) seem to have heaps of clearance atm as i have bugger all camber dialed in, i may end up running a 5mm slip on on the front to bring them out a bit.

ps. yes there rotas bring on the hate! i couldn't resist them at $999 a set with hub rings and a full set of aftermaket lock nuts.

Looks tough mate. I like it. Do Rotas just get hated on because theyre not JDM, or are they 'considerably' inferior quality? (not being a dick/trolling)

and my personal favourite - the before and after track day photos

seen them all mate really doesn't concern me, believe me its an informed decision it is a daily only car but if they do break I will be the first to post them up. For the same sizes from rays 3-4 grand, just not worth it on a daily.

TBH a bit of both, they were shit back in the day, all those pics mike posted are old but people have long memories, there was a guy here on sau recently whos spoke cracked but he was tracking an R35 on full slicks obviously my car is a ton lighter and wont be tracked with slicks.

Saw that in the SA Wasteland thread, Nightcrawler had a small spat about it :)

Yeah you guys gotta get your facts straight - they were on an R35GTR doing insane lap times for 6 months, then while the brakes/wheels were red hot from many very hard laps he went through a BIG ice cold puddle and one spoke cracked. Any alloy if you heat it up enough and then dump it in freezing cold water will crack. It is not a reason to stay away from Rota's at all, but rather a hefty endorsement that they can take all that punishment.

you'll be right for daily driving i'd say.

a lot of them were circuit racing incidents - plenty of load put on the wheels

there was actually a member on here that stress fractured the rotas he decided to use as track wheels on his r35

    • Yeah, it's getting like that, my daughter is coming over on Thursday to help me remove the bonnet so I can install the Carbuilders underbonnet stuff,  I might get her to give me a hand and remove the hardtop, maybe, because on really hot days the detachable hardtop helps the aircon keep the interior cool, the heat just punches straight through to rag top I also don't have enough hair for the "wind in the hair" experience, so there is that....LOL
    • Could be falling edge/rising edge is set wrong. Are you getting sync errors?
    • On BMWs what I do because I'm more confident that I can't instantly crush the pinch welds and do thousands of USD in chassis damage is use a set of rubber jacking pads designed to protect the chassis/plastic adapter and raise a corner of the car, place the aforementioned 2x12 inch wooden planks under a tire, drop the car, then this normally gives me enough clearance to get to the front central jack point. If you don't need it to be a ramp it only needs to be 1-1.5 feet long. On my R33 I do not trust the pinch welds to tolerate any of this so I drive up on the ramps. Before then when I had to get a new floor jack that no longer cleared the front lip I removed it to get enough clearance to put the jack under it. Once you're on the ramps once you simply never let the car down to the ground. It lives on the ramps or on jack stands.
    • Nah. You need 2x taps for anything that you cannot pass the tap all the way through. And even then, there's a point in response to the above which I will come back to. The 2x taps are 1x tapered for starting, and 1x plug tap for working to the bottom of blind holes. That block's port is effectively a blind hole from the perspective of the tap. The tapered tap/tapered thread response. You don't ever leave a female hole tapered. They are supposed to be parallel, hence the wide section of a tapered tap being parallel, the existince of plug taps, etc. The male is tapered so that it will eventually get too fat for the female thread, and yes, there is some risk if the tapped length of the female hole doesn't offer enough threads, that it will not lock up very nicely. But you can always buzz off the extra length on the male thread, and the tape is very good at adding bulk to the joint.
    • Nice....looking forward to that update
