And Massa could ask Hamilton what its like to peak at 23... He drives like he belongs in BTCC these days

ok, that's a good comeback. now we just need to translate it into spanish so massa can get the joke too. :)

yeah maybe hamilton can find a seat at DTM with couthlard... in the midfield (on a good day)... well midfield is probably a bit generous actually but I think he did score 1 point this year...

yeah fk oath. as soon as hamilton nurfed massa we get fking DC and trundle crapping on about poor visibility... boo freakity hoo. give him a fking pair of phone books to sit on. every other fker drives the same impossibly shaped cars and manages to figure out where the extremities are. they for the most part can race hard without locking brakes and using other cars to slow down... but it's no surprise DC and Trundle are quick to hunt out the old excuse book for a fellow british driver...

Yeh, when Hamo won in Singapore, Monaco there was none of this visability BS. Hamo is blinded by his ambition....god love him for it. What even worse is to see him in post race interviews squirm and not man enough to speak up. He seems total out of sorts in the car, in front of the camera. He needs to stop and think about the focus he brought to his first GP.

He wasnt boning a good sort 10 years his senior, wasnt hanging out with all his celeb mates. He was a single minded F1 driver whose head was in the game. Hell I remember one of his first GPs he threw Massa a dummy and passed him in a move that for a rookie made Massa look outright stupid.

ok so i know i said i wouldn't do this but it's relevant to the topic.

Lewis Hamilton

Although there has been no confirmation on a new deal for Hamilton, the 26-year-old is believed to be staying at McLaren for next year's Championship. However, whether he stays at McLaren long-term will depend on the team and their ability to give him a car capable of fighting Red Bull for the World titles.

"In terms of my career, I have at least another five to 10 years. At some stage, if it continues the way this is going - which I don't think it will - then patience will be seriously tested," Hamilton told the Daily Mail.

"There are some drivers that are just content with being in Formula One and just existing. Then there are people like me who only exist to be the best."

The Brit also warned his team to expect Red Bull and Sebastian Vettel, who is on the verge of claiming his second title, to come back even stronger next season. And that means McLaren will have to dramatically up their performance.

"Seb will come back just as confident as he has been this year so we have to raise our game.

"We had a big technical review meeting recently and I am pushing. No one asked questions except for me. I was like, 'Sorry, I have some questions'."

As for my opinion, when he ask his engineer ''is worth it'' (to continue that is) after he ran in to massa that said it all for me, the big sob could win a dozen wdc and i would still hate him. :glare:

what his engineer should of said was, ''well your better off then massa is''

as for why is dc and mb defending the sob he's a englishman, on a english programme, in a top english team and the show is being called by a englishman and a scott.......

Heres my prediction.

Redbull is still miles ahead of the field, i think that Vettel stands an excellent chance of a third championship in 2012. His teammate wont challenge him, the fuzz is a mess and Mclaren will rob themselves. This will burn hammo deep into his soul and force him to move to take webbers empty seat only for RBR to be on the decline.

Kimi will have been snapped up to fill his vacant mclaren seat and take the 2013 championship from nando, but only just.

long live the iceman

Hamilton just not get how good Vettel is or perhaps he would prefer not to and take the easy way out by blaming the car. Watching incar of V qualifying is like watching a video game in fast forward, it also seems very relevant that he loves Singapore with all its corners and constant decision making, the prick obviously has the capacity to process informantion and act on it at an extraordinary level.

How old is that Hamo article? Pretty disgraceful to be speaking publicly about the "teams need to improve performance" when he is throwing it off the road more then the likes of Perez and Di Resta.

Hamo needs to get his head down and get on with it. At the moment the team are giving him the car to win races, he is just throwing the car into the wind too often. If he could race like Button can from the front two rows he would be on par with Vettel far more often,

Oh hang on, thats right. He wants the same sort of car superiority he had his first two seasons so that he can win without discipline, ie 2008 season. It pains me to say but I think based on Vettels speed and consistancy this year you could swap Vettel into the McLaren and Hamateur into the RBR and he still wouldnt be leading the WDC

Just read this ... http://www.planetf1.com/driver/18227/7204013/Snr-Lewis-needs-hands-on-management . Intersting and probably right. He always says its in the past and OI have already moved on! I think he would be better served by reflecting on what has just happened, trying to learn from it and try not to repeat it 4 races out of 5

Hamilton is a bit of twat, I just can't seem to like him. If I worked in the team I know I'd much rather Button win than him, Button always thanks the team and keeps his head down, while hamilton keeps making these lame threats to his team about leaving if the car doesn't get better... I've gained a lot of respect for Alonso this year actually, he keeps his head down and provides leadership to his team, encouraging them to push in a good way rather than making veiled statements in the press

Haha this could definitely happen to be honest. Would love to see Kimi racing at Williams next year

all he's doing is displaying his lack of leadership, i dont think mclaren will put up with his crap for one more year let alone five to ten.

Seems to be mainly the Hamilton fan boys paying out on Massa, perhaps in an attempt to draw attention away from the fact that the Senna-esque over taking god more often than not completely f**ks it up. How many times now has he ruined other peoples races with his moves?

Heh, I thought it was kinda funny, Hamilton only managed a couple outside of the DRS zone against tier 2/3 cars. Every other overtake I saw was through the DRS zone, with the go fast buttons pushed.

Webbers first overtake looked pretty good but fair enough he took advantage of Alonso's fast fading tyres. The second overtake just after the restart was a piece of mastery. Overtake of the race in my books.

Also not sure what Eddies deal was saying that the contact between Hamilton and Massa was just a racing incident. From what I remember of it, Massa had his race compromised through almost no fault of his own by a completely avoidable collision. If that doesn't deserve a penalty I dunno what does. Hamilton could have cruised past through the DRS zone again. Likewise MS and his idiotic accident.

And after the first lap shenannigans in qualifying its little wonder that Redbull/SV are in such a commanding position. The competition are still tripping over themselves trying to keep up. Meanwhile SV and MW half a lap back, clean air and still managed two qualifying runs. The only area they're weak IMO is engines really, the renno aint exactly brilliant. Stick a Mercedes engine in that car and they'd be completely untouchable. Oh, and the KERS but it would appear they don't really need that shit anyway.

Also really impressed with Force Indias efforts, Sutil and di Resta worked great as a team. Hope they can keep improving this season and next.

Edit:

This will burn hammo deep into his soul and force him to move to take webbers empty seat only for RBR to be on the decline.

Hah, Redbull aren't paying for a second team, plus a drive for Ricciardo as well as all their development series teams for nothing. Why would they even dream of hiring tainted property who pisses and moans about a great car when they've got their own well trained crop.

You'll see Buemi or Alguersuari or a long list of others in that seat before they'd even dream of hiring Hamilton. Unlike a team such as Williams, Redbull don't seem to consider their drivers just guns for hire and they're a better team for it.

Consider that Alonso shared his race bonuses with his mechanics at Renault and Mac...i suspect he still does it at Ferrari! Not bad when you consider his race win bonus is probably +500k, so for that to be shared among his race mechanics is a huge thing and testament to the fact that Alonso recognises the team effort in F1 and whilst no doubt demanding of his guys, gives as much and shares as much as possible.

The only thing missing from this thread is alf Stewart. :whistling:

Not in the Diner Noel, Not in the Diner ! haha.

Williams F1 have always been a team that have managed their driving talent terribly, infact I would go as far as to say that their personnel management is f**king terrible and it has led them to where they are now.

Jaqcues Villeneuve is a tosser, just thought I would reiterate that here again.

I think Vettel is a massive polesmoker, but I can still give credit where credit is due and say that he has driven a pretty solid season, got on top of tyres early and has just let everyone else have the problems.

Seriously, at grand prix level, they are still having clutch issues with Webber. After this long, I would really like to know what the actual deal is there.....

Hamilton could very well end up shooting himself in the foot, it only takes one bad career move and your f**ked, just look at some of the seriously quick guys through the 90's that never broke through for race wins....

Webbers first overtake looked pretty good but fair enough he took advantage of Alonso's fast fading tyres. The second overtake just after the restart was a piece of mastery. Overtake of the race in my books.

was that the one where he pulled out at the last second and only missed making contact by a few inches?

was that the one where he pulled out at the last second and only missed making contact by a few inches?

It was a pretty quick maneuver, dunno if it was that close though. Need to grab the BBC iplayer replay and have a look.

    • For these last 7 years of ownership, I've always had to use a small scissor jack under one of the front tow hooks to raise the front just enough so my low-profile jack fits under to reach my subframe jack point. I'm beginning to get annoyed of always having to do this. Are there any lower low-profile jacks that fit under the gtr lip on a dropped car?
    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
