Ah but it not only the driver who is relevant to tyre care, the car is too. Observing MW fighting the Red Bull in traffic while Vettel has cleared off into the clean air out front has become a common scenario, I'm surprised that it has not been generally realised that the Red Bull is a dog in dirty air which contributes significantly to tyre degradation.

That might justify webber's poor year in the best car, if they didn't all set quali lap times in clear air.

He is not as good as Vettel. End of story

Yep, Vettel is the best F1 driver around, by a fair margin too. So the Red Bull suits him, Mark is back in the second tier with Alonso, Button, Lulu, et al. Which makes it hard to evaluate cars but let's say the Red Bull is not the dominant car for 2011 but Vettel is the dominant driver?

I still believe the RBR is the dominant car, Webber is just not driving it to it's true potential.

Would be very interested to see Alonso/Hamilton/Button in the same car as Vettel as they're closer to him than Webber, in lesser cars (imo)

Webber simply isnt doing the job required of him this year. Its no crime, but it is disappointing for his fans and no less him

But, you have to laugh, last year with the cold blown diffuser and last years tyres Webber was consistantly beating Vettel RBR-Renault sort the hot blown diffuser, car becomes easier to drive and Vettel catches pace on Webber. Then compounded by this years tyres and Webber is struggling to beat the Ferrari and McLaren,

I am not sure there is that much in it. Webber is a good qualifier but cant turn on the tyres. Vettel is the master of it. Button, Webber, Alonso, even Hamilton cant match his ability to turn on the tyres and get a close to perfect lap. I think the McLaren and RBR are very even cars. You only have to look at their respective race paces and amount of GP wins to see that they have the equal car, especially with the 2011 spec gadgets and their straight line speed over the RBR...the cars work out even in a race. Ferrari is definitely slower then the Mac and RBR

more on the usa

"It's all very simple - they don't have the money," Ecclestone told The Associated Press on Thursday. "We don't have a contract. If they want to come back to us, if it's not signed before the end of next week, I suppose it won't be on the calendar next year."

the organisers want it pushed back one year, so we might be looking at a 2013 race.

conspiracy theorists would also say that RBR are simply giving vettel a better car to start with, and now that he has won the championship they aren't willing to simply make webber's suddenly otherwise it would prove that they were deliberately sabotaging his year...

    • Depending on how long the car sat it is very possible for injectors to be stuck open or closed, I'd get them cleaned and flow tested. Other than that, obviously when the loom changes and the car doesn't start any more....the loom is suspect so some tracing / comparing may be required
    • Harness is for a s1 Rb25det, and it is engine and lower harness.  the old harness had broken off plugs and was in very rough condition/exposed wires and splices etc. it is not able to be put back on the car, I could visually inspect to see if they had rewired any pins on the ecu plug. The fuel pump definitly isn’t turning off it’s an external pump and very loud you can hear it. Will look at the other harness tonight, am also going to pull the fuel rail and watch the injectors spray, will update here with what I find. Pretty sure at this point it has to be something to do with injectors because car will fire up on starting fluid and cas is clicking the Injectors. Fuel pressure is steady 43psi
    • Check the injectors flow evenly, and are actually flowing what you and the ECU think they should be flowing. If it's starting up on starter fluid, you have a fuel issue. Is it possible under cranking your fuel pump is turning off?   The harness you replaced, is that the whole engine harness? Do yourself a test, and drop the old harness on and plug it into the Z32 ECU. It's possible they've wired things different. From memory S1 to S2 is different in RB25 and you may have a wrong loom
    • I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off.
