structural integrity for a track car should be no problem - roll cage should offer more than the stock damaged components ever did - but I suppose I am speaking through my arse without having seen the car

mildly damaged JDM for race only - about 40-50k. undamaged JDM car for track only 70k or there abouts

Not too mention if the standard spot welds are drilled/new parts used and plug welded it will stronger than it was originally

Am I the only one who thinks that it was pretty expensive at $80K? I guess one day it can be re-registered (although no longer in NSW right?) and will be worth $120K-$130K but you'd have to be very tight with what you spent repairing it to make a buck out of it.

Yes thats correct, it wont be able to be registered in NSW again but people tend to get them registered in other states instead

wonder how deep the water came and how long it was sitting there for. We had a cruiser come into work which must had been sitting in water for a while, not good at all just about every electronic component was corroded, cost a sh1t load more to fix it up at cost price then he sold it for. would not recommend to anyone buying a car thats gone for a swim.

Yeah the swimming cars are bad.. however this one looks like its been washed. and doesnt appear to have had any water inside..

90k+ however.. and as said above if any electronics are dicked which this car is full of.. $$$$$$$

with water damaged cars its u and your luck really. mate and i bought an m3 water damage and we were going to part it out until it arrive at his door step, jumped in it and started and drove like any other m3, now its got rego and still driving around. but most water damaged cars are stat write-offs which is good for track cars

We have a passat here at work which came from QLD with water damage. The car wont start or run because it got water in the cylinders. It was funny telling the customer it needed a new motor worth 15k and that's just the beginning.

be interesting to see what the flood damaged 35 goes for. but as the other guys said buying flood damaged cars is a bit of a lucky dip. the odds start to stack against you a bit though when it's a car like the R35 that has a computer for bloody everything, if there is corrosion in the electronic components then it could get super nasty. you can remove some of that risk in older cars with more basic on board systems but in a 35 it's a big gamble.

And even if it starts, there are time-bombs further down the track perhaps (via corrosion of electricals)?

how were the floods around sunshine in Vic? i know Qld was pretty bad.. but Vic wasnt televised as much..

it really doesnt look like most flood damaged cars i see.. i'll try get a price when it finishes and if its met reserve..

yeah for sure. flood damage definitely doesn't cure itself over time! it gets worse if un-discovered and un-treated.

thanks angus smart, would be curious to see what it sells for.

the floods wernt as bad as QLD but in some suburbs it reached car roofs.

but if the auctions found out the KM of the GTR then the electrics work, if not the car turns on too..

Wowzers

75,000 it made..

haha, have you found a way to transplant / set up the ADM head unit Chris? you might sort out the vin but when the japanese characters start popping up on the display you might raise a few eyebrows.

    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
