CQ is good stuff! Just sometimes the girls are a bit too up themself !! lol

Around 2 weeks ago I hit up Fashion Lounge for a Bday, thought it was gonna be shitttt, it was actually pretty good, more girls then guys there! And the crowd was pretty friendly! Music was good, 2 floors, but the house/electro floor is tiny compared to the R&B floor downstairs. BTW you got a safe car park right beside it!

I'm with the others Kez, I think you should try CQ, they atleast have two levels for you to choose your music. Crowd is usually a good perv too. Friday = ethnic night, sat = aussies. But make sure you're there early enough or try and find someone with a list. And have a backup place to go to in case getting in doesn't work out / people don't like the place = key to a good night out.

Clubs that don't care if you have heaps of guys?

You lie Birds.. you lie...

It's called a gay club :P

Hahaha nah they are more bars than clubs, but they do exist. What is surprising is that some of these clubs have had more girls than guys despite being relaxed on the ratio.

Eve, Boutique, Electric lady land and onesixone... Thread closed... hahahaha

I would rather be pissed on in a gutter than go to Boutique again! I hate management/security there and the pretentious-without-reason-to-be crowd in general.

Colonial Hotel (depends on the act/night)

Yeah, Thursday nights, it's a Metal / Punk / Acoustic place.

Saturday night it is a Indy / Hip Hop / Party

Royal Melbourne Hotel on a Saturday is a Alternative / Metal / Punk / Party night.

Party room is out back and probably more your scene.

I know what your saying birds, but the music and girls are there. Eve is the go i reckon. But back in the day PRINCE - Onelove on a saturday night, used to work there... that was where it was pumping.

If you want to get into a big brawl head to CQ... that's my opinion birds!!! hahahaha... watch this Space.

Sadly those relaxed type of places are all too scarce. Eve thursdays used to be like that, we used to roll up with 4-5 guys no dramas (albeit reasonably early)

Come to think of it, Eve is nice and somewhat classy without the bullshit attitude of Boutique et al. OP should go there

My bad, I actually meant to add in a comment about me liking Eve. Nick Russian is down to earth legend too. I did actually like the music at Boutique and the male bouncer was a great guy the first time I went there (female was and still is a REAL bitch). lol @ CQ fights, they don't put me off as much as the $20 parking in that vicinity

Yeah it's a real shame. Sometimes you just want a boys night out without the purses or convincing them to come. Lagerfield downstairs at Crown has become popular amongst my friends for pre-drinks.

Agreed! Couple of other guy friendly places in the vicinity of CQ that you might want to check out Kez:

Baroq

Marrakech

I've been going to CQ sat for as long as the night has been there (after it moved from Blue under crown, before that Billboard and before that Spy Lounge before that 2000-2001)

VERY rarely is there a fight with the crowd, and that's over a 10yr period.

when you think about other places that ha e glassings, knife issues etc, that's a pretty good track record for a venue/night of that size.

One of the ways CQ (quite smartly IMO) combat that is by having two fairly distinct nights in terms of clientele. Call it racist or discriminatory, it does seem to work.

yes yes we get it, you're old :P

kez i know its the wrong kinda music, but Loft on saturdays is a good back up plan. the bouncers there are always generally very reasonable. other places i have been recently are Seven - shit, Watermark - asian night on sat, gl getting in, Alumbra - good music imo, but touch and go getting in with lots of guys. they have a BBQ on sunday nights too

yeah, different organisers too.

although Fri you do tend to see a few more altercations the times I've been there.

but that's what you get with drunk asshats in suits on a friday afterwork style.

the curry dude at seven (bouncer) had serious roid rage. he tried to start off a fight at syndal gym with a bunch of us because we were using a weight he wanted. was a LOL moment when we recognised who he was. doesnt work there anymore so its a little better.

watermark was tight back in the day too, until the bouncer there got jumped one night for being a prick. he mellowed out a lot after.

Spice market on sat is a decent joint, if you have a close to even ratio and dont dress like a bum

Thank fuck I'm not the only person in here that used to go to Next Blue.

seven ... watermark

I detest any place with excessive number of curries... or any other ethnics for that matter. I like "white" clubs, the atmosphere is way more chilled out, no one has attitudes, there's no fights and everyones just there for a good time. Also bouncers at a predominantly ethnic clientele event seem to come to work feeling shitty already and are even more difficult to deal with than usual.

Are you greek or something Harsh? hahaha

TFU owns man

hahaha...well, grown up with greeks...so kinda blent in with them now...lol...only got wog mates...hardly any curry mates...lol...so that explains why i would be going there if i go out...it was good but last time it was real crap.. or mayb it was just a shit nit...hehehe

    • No, you're wrong, and you've always been wrong about this. The Nismo has 2 sets of openings. One is a real 2-way, and the other is a 1-way. There is no 1.5-way possible with the ramps that they offer. A real 1.5-way does exist. That Cusco stuff I posted is a prime example. If the forward drive ramps are, say 55°, and the overrun ramps are, say, 30°, then you will get about half as much LSD effect on overrun than you do on drive. It is real, it realy works. OK, you're slightly right. The Nismo has 55° and 45° ramps on the 2-way, so it does offer less LSD effect on overrun. But, I think that just means that they've (probably) sensibly established that you do not want actually equal LSD effect on overrun. You just want "quite a lot, but not quite as much as the drive LSD effect".
    • Just wanted to unearth this and post my baby with the new front ❤️😝 Took her to my wedding rehearsal today. Next up is getting wide skirts (after wedding)
    • Yea, that is what I was getting at in my ramblings too. The nismo one actually is a 1.5 way and a 1 way. They don't do a *2* way because a true *2* way would have equal ramp angles. Or is that a true 1.5 way? Realistically I think a "1.5 way" does not actually exist. A diff can either lock in two directions or one. It also doesn't help that a LOT of people in Australia speak about 1.5 way diffs are referring to their 1 way diff.
    • Well, the trouble with that ^^ is: The configuration shown is absolutely a 1-way, not a 1.5-way. There is no way that a 1.5-way can be said to offer LSD action only on acceleration. If Nismo cannot get that right, then it is impossible to believe their documentation. That ^ is not a 1.5 way setup. That is a 1-way.   And so now I have allowed all doubts to flourish and have gone back to look at the MotoIQ video. I originally made the mistake of believing him when he said "this is a 1.5-way" at the ~6:10 mark. Because what he did was take the gear assembly out of the 2-way opening and just rotate it one place to the left to drop it into the 1-way opening. When he dropped it in there, the cam was "backwards" compared to the correct orientation shown in all other photos of that config. The flat shold have been facing the 1° ramp side of the opening, not the 55° ramp side. And I thought, "gee that's cute", but I was concerned at the time, when he put the other ring back on, that the gap between the rings looked like it was wider then in the 2-way config. And then I said a lot of things in my long post on Tuesday that could only make sense if the guy from MotoIQ was correct about what he'd done. BUT... I have now done my homework. I grabbed a frame of the video with the 2-way config, and then grabbed another with the "1.5-way" config, snipped out the cam and opening of that frame and just pasted it direct on top of the 2-way config. I scaled it so that the triangular opening was almost exactly the same height in both. AND.... the gap between the plates is wider with the cam installed in the triangualr opening backwards. That is.... it cannot go together that way. There would be massive force on the plates all the time, if you could even reassemble it.  So, My statement on the matter? The Nismo diff is actually only a 2-way and 1-way. There is no 1.5-way option in it, regardless of what they say. Here's a photo of a real 1.5-way ramp opening from Cusco (along with the 1 way option). And the full set of 1 through 2 way options from their racing diff, which is not same-same as what we'd typically be using, but...the cams work the same. A little blurry, but it comes from this Cusco doc, which is quite helpful. AND.... Cusco do in fact do what I suggested would be sensible, which is to have rings that do 1 and 1.5, and 1.5 and 2. Separately.
