But has it been setup to apply pressure to both sides of the diaphragm? It's unlikely but it's quick and easy to check, could have been overlooked?

thats how i set it up initially but the tuner said it wasn't needed.

i dont know if he changed it, jez asked me to check this as well.

i will find all out tomorrow.

okay i just spoke to my tuner and its getting vac from top port and side port (how i set it up initially)

he says it won't be the spring cause they can generally hold boost when set with a EBC/MBC to double their rated pressure (1 bar spring = 2bar boost on ebc/mbc)

im still gonna try Jez's gate with 20psi spring and see how it goes, if that fails, i will try his profec B 2 unit and hope for the best.

he still believe it has something to do with the mani or turbo as everything else "seems" to be ok, if it does fix the issue with either the above suggestions, i think its time i find a new tuner.

if this does not fix it, then i am at a lost and don't know what to do.

Perhaps the solenoid is stuck open a little? Try blowing through it. I seem to remember you need to swap ports on the solenoid too, to normally open.

I run a 1 bar spring using both wastegate ports, and run 30psi in the midrange but it still drops to 25psi by the top.

dont think this would be the case Simon, Blake (BSA) had the same manifold setup (but smaller gate) on his car and it wasn't an issue

what spring are you using in your gate at 1.5 bar ?

1 bar spring with Profec B Spec II doing the rest

Actually its sold lol, collected money for it yesterday.

Im confident theres nothing wrong with the disco itself but its a bad match to the high comp motor and the cams are also shit.

I did say you would make the 250-260 mark mate. A nice result, but like weve been discussing theres possibly more in it with another exhaust housing, probably not worth the hassle tho.

How responsive is it on the street?

i haven't really gave it much yet due to the shit rain but on the dyno its coming on boost 200rpm sooner than before

which was 4200rpm 19psi before now 4000rpm 20psi

not sure if its the eflex or cause i preloaded this turbo more where as the old td05 i had barely any preload on the actuator arm when i removed it

ive had 2 of these kandos now and both performed faultlessly and had no problems

first one i had on for 6 months on pump daily driven 1 track day and a few runs down the quarter and when i removed it was still like new these turbos are bang for buck and perform and good quality

ok long story short , i bought another car to use as a track basher , it's a stock 32 pretty much , the turbo is touching the housing so it needs replacing . Digging through my shed i found a couple td05 trust turbo's i had bought a few months ago (td05h 16c in memory , off a gtr ) . Im wondering if this would be worth the effort of fitting up if I'm only aiming for 200rwk , it will be with a kando rear housing and cheap ebay external gate (and the usual mods obviously ) or should i just do the usual and whack a 25 turbo on?

I would do it every day of the week. And when you get bored of the 16g just whack on a kando CHRA.

Heres a shopping list for you champ:

i need a 0.5 or 0.6bar spring to test

after a bit of searching, i dont think the MVR springs work in the older WG44 gate, :\

Dori what springs you using, I think you may have it muddled up

here is the chart I have for my springs...

tial-1.png

im running 3 springs in total, one .4bar and two .3bar springs gives me 1bar total

there is no .5 or .6 bar springs on the MVR only on the MVS

I dont think the blue spring is .6bar..that is the pressure of the green/blue combined...

not sure, but now im confuzzled too

    • If they can dyno them, get them dyno'd, make sure they're not leaking, and if they look okay on the dyno and are performing relatively well, put them in the car.   If they're leaking oil etc, and you feel so inclined, open them up yourself and see what you can do to fix it. The main thing you're trying to do is replace the parts that perish, like seals. You're not attempting to change the valving. You might even be able to find somewhere that has the Tein parts/rebuild kit if you dig hard.
    • Can you also make sure the invoices on the box (And none exist in the boxes) are below our import duty limits... I jest, there's nothing I need to actually purchase and order in. (Unless you can find me a rear diff carrier, brand new, for stupidly cheap, that is for a Toyota Landcruiser, HZJ105R GXL, 2000 year model...)
    • Murphy strikes again! Nothing at all would have gone wrong if you had the tool kit in the car! You'd have just found the clamp loose the next time you went to touch it...
    • I have been being VERY quiet about what you're alluding to, as it is something that ticks me off... The number of cars from factory that run coil overs is HUGE! Most of them these days do... The other part that annoys me, is people saying "Well all the incabin adjustable suspension is illegal by blah blah blah"... If that's the case, then why can I buy a car brand new that can do it if, FULL STOP in cabin adjustable suspension is illegal...   Also, I could just chuck some aftermarket shocks in my car, throw the stock springs on, after my blue slip, dump my super low springs back in. Same shock and spring style setup... Hell, they could also be the same colour springs etc.     I'm voting, BlueSlipper didn't want to touch the above car for some reason. Whether it be some sort of bias against the car, the owner, them maybe having previously done dodgy shit and now they're being super careful in case they get slapped in the face by the Gumbyment again... Find a new blueslip place.   And can confirm as you had said, yes there are holy bibles of vehicle heights, and all sorts of other suspension stuff. Heck your run of the mill mechanic, and tyre shop has access to all of that stuff. It's how they do wheel alignments...
    • Funny story Heading to Sydney this morning on the HWY there was some slow traffic, so I gave it the beans and midway through my overtaking "power run" I lost all power It seems that I missed a hose clamp,  and the MAF and filter went WiFi To make this more problematic, the little tool kit that lives in the boot, is sitting in the sun room at Goulburn......LOL Luckily for me I found a bit of steel on the side of the road that could be used like a rusty and bent flat head screw driver to tighten it up enough that it got me into Sydney, it is now all tight like a tiger with the aid of a 8mm socket Note to self: Use my brain and double check stuff, and always keep that little tool kit in the car for when I have a brain fart
