As i plan to really get to the track more in 2014 and get this nugget sorted so i can learn to drive it, we thought some oil control is in order as we all know RB's need it :P So even though it is still 100% stock motor and headgasket etc it now has a nice shiny sump -

As you can see in the image here the turbo elbow is now on the housing so that should get rid of that issue!

You'll still need to shield that silicon from the heat.

Get them to bend up a bit of heat shieldy stuff, and use some of the mounting points to cover the manifold. Even if you ceramic coat it.

Itll be wrapped and coated etc man! All over it

Is that sump specially for Neos? I was measuring it up down there and it looked like the sway bar and some hardlines wont clear with the bigger sump.

I'm guessing your putting on a oil drain too behind your head.Going straight to the sump.

nice definitely a good aid to making these engine last a bit longer as stockers

Yep will hopefully prolong the life of the poor engine! Its had a hard life but at 150000km its still copping 25psi and 500+whp no worries... This sump will be able to stay with any engine i put in as it will always stay NEO so its a sound investment considering i want to be doing more track time.

The engine mounts were changed to a Hardrace item. Coolant sensor has been relocated to read correctly. Exhaust manifold has been wrapped & clutch plate was swapped to a solid item.

teh secks!

Still ah mazing it's the stock motor, yet people spend like $5K+ on built motors for the same effect

let's race bitch LOL

I'm waiting for my snail/paper weight to come

Yep, and that is why the build is staying where it is... I am happy with the way it goes (WHEN it fkn goes lol) and the motor seems to be happy enough to handle the given power so why build a motor? And if this motor lets go i will not be changing the plan, ill be finding another low milage donor and going again... I plan to use the car as much as i can and learn to drive it, SMSP South was my first chance and unfortunately a broken engine mount was causing me a lot of issues as you can see a few pages back! BUT sorted now so try again soon....

I got a few gremlins to iron out, but let's hit up wakefield for speed off the streets next year when you're free!

Fingers crossed i have found the last of them!

Will be keen for a few wakie days, just gotta work out time to do them as we are short staffed at work!

Hoping to try the car out locally if i can at SMSP or similar just to MAKE SURE there are no more surprises lol

hope so too!

my car now refuses to make any power past 6k rpm, I can't hear any audible knock or anything.. but being a remapped ECU I can't plug up any software to see what's going on (soon to change once I slap on the new turbo :) )

swapped out the spark plugs last night and was about to go for a drive and realised my fuarking license has been expired for nearly a week!

I like the look of that sump, jelly :)

    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
    • So, now all you need to do is connect the 2 or 3x 12v feeds into the unit to permanent 12v, ACC 12V and IGN 12V that you can find in the spot behind the stereo, and the earth, and then it will switch on with the car.
