I just fitted a V-manage unit with the help of my tuner Cihan, it doesn't seem to be outputting the correct signal to the cam retarders but I can read the stock cam mapping quite well. It seems to be advancing the cams early on, before the stock turbo makes boost which is promising, up to 30 degrees advance from what I logged.

The VQ35de data I am using to control it must have a different signal to run its hydraulic cam retarders, and there doesn't seem to be any other CVCT VQ's listed. Does anyone know of a different VQ that runs the same electromagnetic actuator?

Not looking good for the cable throttle install as the cams will go into full retard once the engine is in limp mode, unless I can get this working.

I have emailed Greddy Japan for support but im not holding my breath...

Hmmm maybe its time to save up for a GZONE remap....and a complete retune :whistling:

yup....do it!!!....be a pioneer!

might find some others follow once they know it's good!

Not 100% certain but as stated last night the VQ23de will probably have it.

Actually.... it references the CVTC only for VQ25det and VQ23de on the VQ section of Wikipedia

Hmm... the VQ23de was used in the Teana in the US, so maybe you should talk to Greddy US instead of Japan.

I'm actually in the process of doing this at the moment.

After I saw that listing on Import Monster, I spoke to a colleague who knows Japanese, and she passed the information on to a friend in Japan to be the go between person.

At the moment it sounds like it'll be about $600-700 if I supply an ECU, including removing the speed limiter and throttle restriction. They'd prefer to have the whole car, but obviously that's not possible.

I'll keep everyone posted, but I might want to borrow that ECU sooner rather than later Craig :thanks:

Good stuff. I would definitely be interested in a remap especially if we can get better economy as well as the removal of the throttle restrictions down low.

Hate to break it to you mate, you'll never get better economy when you have a more responsive throttle and more power!

unless you want spend 5k and get LPG installed :whistling:

Is that working under the assumption that with a more responsive throttle and more power you'll be more inclined to put your foot down?

What's the throttle controlled by!

Definitely keep us informed of how this progresses, I dare say there's enough demand to justify your effort!

There's enough demand right here to justify the effort :nyaanyaa:

I'd say it'll be easier with a Japanese translator, just have to work out cost and procedure, then maybe we can organise to send a few over, assuming the first one goes ok?

Happy to be the guinea rat, sounds like it'll be worthwhile regardless of what aftermarket stuff I run later.

I have a spare ecu also if it all works out. :)

You will still need some way of adjusting fuel and timing though if you have gone the highflow path... No way you can guess that tune from the other side of the world.

Just rip out all the VCT and put some big f#$k off solid lift cam's in.....the idle would be awesome!!!!!!.....lol!

I had the lumpy idle yesterday. lol. The engine wanted to stall with the actuators on full advance.

Good thing I found that Emanage CD last nite!

Well I'm guessing that part of the tuning may well be a leaning off of the A/F ratios which will most certainly give better economy. Not everyone drives like a wanker and has to fang it non stop. Better off boost and low boost around town economy should be easily achieved by this. I can accept poor economy if I cane it but when I drive on the highway or around town with the kids in the car I would like better economy than I'm getting now.

Might be clutching at straws, but the VQ35HR motor had hydraulic intake and electromagnetic exhaust. that help at all?

complex answer on a VQ25det!!!

The HR isnt supported by Greddy, why I have no idea, its only programming the pwm outputs as far as I know. Cant find an english manual anywhere either. Not the smartest considering half their gear is bought by overseas customers these days.

I wish there was better support for this as its a great product with many uses, these variable cam engines are just starting to be unleashed.

I haven't gone down that path yet, but I will. I figured when I got to that point I'd need an Emanage or something similar regardless of whether I get the G-Zone done.

    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
