That is what stopped me from buying MA61 and MA70 Supra back then, read too many stories about them blowing h/gasket.

Okay just messaged my mate and he said, what you said is true.

But you just need to get the head resurfaced and possibly block, run a cosmetic steal head gasket and some arp head studs, and then it should hold well after that

thinking about it.... but see below post

hardcore/cheap/lazy

Ah fair enough.

Excellent, I know something about 'yotas....

Now that is sorted.

Need Panasports and it'll be fap-worthy.

SAU is not a vicroads authorized club for club permit scheme,

and I cannot see this changing as there is not much need considering most ppl's cars here are not more than 25 years old.

I don't think you'd ever want most people cars on club reg, too much headache.

Given its two years til r32s become eligible, now is probably a good time for SAU to sign up with only a handful of people wanting club reg, easier for the club to come up to speed with all the requirements.

I'd be worried if the gasket was cosmetic :P

Grant/Leigh - thanks

Fun riding a bike? First time?

Yea first time. They made me start on a scooter which was a waste of time but good fun. Then got me a bike, was trickier than I thought, stalled it couple times but got the hang of it by the time they started testing. Definately going for 1.5 hour courses to practise gear changing before I go out on the road.

yeah. please do. so i know if i do get one. how much i'm up for.

doing research before another potentially stupid purchase...

Normally your looking at about $2k-2.5K parts and labour including cleaning, checking and resurfacing of the head.

Though I'm sure you have chit chat with him and talk specifics I'm sure you'd be able to make a deal with him ~$1.5K for the job.

I'd be worried if the gasket was cosmetic :P

My bad... though..could go Cosmetic as they say Maybelline because you're worth it

Hahaha scooters are underrated. Good idea on the practice sessions, better to get these things downpat, one less thing to worry about when you get out on the road with cars. Everything becomes second nature very quickly.

hi, i have a t5 out of an xr8 that has a possible snapped input shaft.. will you still take the box? this is the only damage.. no cracks in the housing etc.... if you will would it be a lower price etc? i am in south as. can you give me a close price..?

    • So either way it is gearbox out and look what is wrong?  I know about the input shaft bearing. Even before swap/new clutch the it sounded exactly like this: So is that inout shaft bearing or the other was installed backwards?  And can some please tell me the part number for that input shaft bearing? The gearbox is small box from R34 N/A and number is FS5W71C. Thank you
    • I am yet to see anyone ever regret a quaife or helical. ...other than drifting/skidpan duties. I kind of want to upgrade my factory helical with a Quaife (but really it's not ultimately that different, and is a MASSIVE UNDERTAKING), that's how good the hype is about them, that I want to try them 'just to see'
    • D2 and Ksport are essentially the same thing and basically just generic Taiwanese manufacture. Better than ChinaBay crap, but... not top shelf. Öhlins have got to be some of the best dampers around, so likely to be a good option. It's going to get to the point though where I suggest you buy from Oz. We have at least 2x excellent options here. If I were you though, I'd be talking to KW about doing something for the R33. There's bugger all difference between that and the 32. In GTR land, anyway.
    • KW only offers a set for the R32 GTR. Popular options are D2 racing, Ksport or Öhlins. I have a D2 Racing coilover set, though I don't know for sure which one.
    • Well, the good news is you have more than one very good option for new coilovers in and around your country. Worth the drive over to KW to talk about GTR stuff.
