went and sat in a golf R today, so far so good, nice driving position albeit higher than i prefer. wheel is small, hell comfortable and can extend really far back so that's a plus.

organising a test drive soon.

watched an episode of "inside" today.... "russia's hardest prison"

PHUCK ME!!!!!!

dogs the size of bears that just wanted blood. no kidding, dogs were 2m on their hind legs and around 100kg.

the prisoners have it reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeealy bad there :O

Not much short of the standard exhaust will clear an EPA test, 90db is f**king quiet, standard exhaust on the GTS-T is around 88db.

Haha sigh, such a drain! Unnecessary costs of swapping over exhausts, lame. Cheers for info.

Just borrow a stock exhaust man someone will lend u one for sure.

My gf just got her license back... Lost 3 points already.. Within a week ...

Haha yeah stock exhaust to clear it might be the way to go. Ahaha your gf quite the hoon :P

Y u no sirocco r? is cause coupe?

R has AWD goodness? :P

Although around uni, lately I've seen a scirocco, looks the goods. But also see few Rs... also so nice. xD.

scirocco R is same price (thereabouts) and FWD. while it looks baller from the front and side the ass is epic fail.

golf R is 4wd - similar system to the GTR but it is front wheel biased. so when you are putting around the city or a hwy it's fwd to save fuel but when you pin it, it can throw up to 100% to the rears.

also i wont be buying new.

Post pic of golf r wanna see what they look like.

Also hate Internet when u actually want quality info on something good fkn luck finding it... Most fpv reviews say its drinks fuel list no tomorrow but dont actually quantify how much.. Check thread on form forums average seems about 14-15/100km which I rkn is decent for what it is doubt any v8 would come in much lower? Any v8 owners around lol?

What colour Hamish?

I've seen a few around in white with black rims and I'll have to admit they do look tough.

2nd hand would be about $50k? What's the mod potential of these motors?

Let us know how the test drives goes and how it compares to your current beast

Also curious on your choice of the Golf R as your new family car compared to say an EVO/Wrx STi at around the same bracket.

I'm assuming because the Golf R is safer, more fuel efficient and less cop attention? Will the boot space be sufficient for your needs i.e. for a prams and groceries etc..?

we have a mk6 77 tsi and it's f**king amazing. for the same price (nearly) of it's japanese rivals it is MILES ahead.

the interior/saftey features, build quality and refinement are the main things that are biasing me over the wrx/evo also how ugly the new rexes are doesn't help the situation..

as for cop attention etc... well that's definately a plus

blue

it's going to feel like driving a house-brick powered by an ant compared to my skyline :/ it's more about usable power on the street if i can handle the massive downgrade

they seem to get down to just over 40k 2nd hand

    • When you pulled it off, there is no signs of blown head gasket? Is it possible you have some other issues going on? Possible cracked blocked? Or do you think it's straight up lifting the head? Did you check what the head was torqued to before pulling it down (To see if possibly they're stretching, or starting to break threads out etc)?
    • Seems like a decent result for a modded JZX110. They are bulky in comparison to the 100 and 90 models (which I'd prefer myself) but they are getting very few and far between here in JP these days. Thanks for the detailed review and the import process into the UK. I also have a car which I'm hoping to export from Japan at some stage so it's good to know if someone from the UK was interested in it. By the way the corrosion underneath is par for the course for cars which were located in/near the mountains or along the Japan sea coastline. They get huge amounts of snow every winter and the sodium chloride is used on the roads. Many cars have some kind of rubber like treatment underneath but they tend to limit it to the wheel arches underbody and fuel tank. Suspension arms and sub-frames will have similar corrosion to your JZX110 which is a common sight. See it all the time and car dealers here generally don't even mention it unless asked.
    • If the sound goes away when you clutch in, the 1.5/2 way diffs are just shit, and you are a normal person. The diff is likely "fine" but driving at anything under 30kmh is a violent horrible experience. It would be exaggerated with solid diff bushings and subframe bushings if you have those.
