I think more driver training or education is the solution or at least part of it.

Banning cars or turbos won't do anything for road toll, I mean it hasn't done shit already right? There's not a massive number of high powered cars crashing it's all kinds. The type of person to get high powered car would of crashed a low powered car as well imo. Hell I had a n/a skyline with no power and stacked that into a tree when I was young and stupid / inexperienced.

Anyone can do 160km/h in a Hyandai and lose control come off the road hit a tree instant death.

some good points there.

however one that has been dramatically over looked. your test.

make it harder. and i mean f**k loads harder. the quality of Australian drivers as a rule is shocking compared to other developed country's i have driven in.

tailgating. not being able to stick to a speed. sitting in the overtaking lane for 40 mins. unrestricted trucks. zero courtesy, arrogance (ie look at this dickhead, he's not getting past me) all major flaws that stick out alot here. and compared to other countrys we have a lot less drivers.

That's exactly what I mean by education / training it all needs to be harder than a 5min drive around the block.

Pretty sure Germany had like wet road / emergency stopping / sliding etc etc?

Also they need to adjust the bike rules too - a 19 year old can ride any bike he wants.

you are thinking of finland.

they require mandatory training for driving on ice and snow, as well as training on a skidpan where the instructor will purposely get the car out of the drivers control.

they made the test harder in 2008-9 to try and weed out the time wasters (ie. inexperienced and a large number of foreigners).

Victoads way of making it harder is instant fail in the first 5mins. First time I went for my licence the rear wheel touched the edge of the roundabout in a small street. pulled over, instant fail because it was in the first 5mins of the test. I was infuriated because if I'd made the mistake later in the test I would have only lost 5 points. apparently it's a way of "saving the testers time". kents

hahaha I know, but bikes are different bikes are stupidly quick dangerous if in the wrong hands.. you can buy a 9sec bike for like 10k if you've only done like 500km of road riding then jump on that - laters lol

I know someone that did everything correctly, then when he pulled up at the vic roads, the tester got out of the car and said

"that was 100% perfect, come back another time when you aren't on drugs"

fkn ROFL

FedEx says my Ghost HD cam should arrive at 5pm tonight............. but its tracking status hasnt passed the "information received" stage. hmmmm

The road toll is basically nothing as is though, since the 70s the road toll has come down to almost 1/4 what it was and yet there are more than twice as many vehicles on the road people on the roads, cars are safer. Why do the government have this fixation on lowering the road toll? Is it because they can enact some quick fixit scheme that makes it look like they're tackling the big issues?

+1

And as long as people commit suicide, there will be a road toll.

As long as people die within 12 months of having been in a reported accident regardless of it being as a result of that incident or not there will always be a road toll.

    • Oh, also, forgot to add these photos I believe.
    • Thought i'd update on this. I was able to get in contact with Craig Lieberman and later on Darryl Alison (owner of Kaizo Industries). Darryl was able to help me verify that my car was in fact one of theirs and is helping me find more info on mine !
    • There's restrictor pills in the stock boost control hoses. That's how they set the amount that was bled off and hence the "high" boost setting. The usual mod in the day was to remove it and send the "high" boost setting up to about 14 psi.
    • Thanks Duncan, that's the best info I've read. Furthermore after learning about the PCM programming side controlling the factory boost solenoid, the purpose of the solenoid is to "bleed" boost when pin 25 is earthed, thus allowing spring pressure in the wastegate actuator to overcome diaphragm boost pressure, thus closing or reducing the position of the wastegate flap creating more boost as the turbo is able to spin faster. It's pretty cool to see a designated Pill to do exactly this, would have liked to have seen it with a tiny filter over the end for those moments in vacuum.  The constant bleed pill has now been removed completely from the system and solenoid boost control has been restored once again.   Case closed 😂
    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
