dun matter...

it wont be a writeoff for that... just likely to be a quote the ins co will refuse lol

as I was insured with shannons they authorise mick to do the work THEN give the quote to the at fault party and let them deal with it.

Can any brahs recommend some panel beaters in the south east? Need to get some quotes for insurance. Don't want my car written off so no micolour pls (looking at you Pat)

You can try DT Panels, but his pretty busy atm if you needed urgent work done

So if her insurance co are going to tell me to jam my quote from micolour, why would I bother going there? Lol

Having to drive around to panel shops after some careless tart smashes into me is inconvenient enough

You can have whoever you like in your insurance list to fix it, if you have choice of repairer then you can choose whoever you like. Your insurance pays for it, and then claims the amount of the at fault party. Your car gets fixed by who you want, if the at fault insurer refuses that isn't your problem, your insurance company will have that argument. That's why u pay for insurance.

To my knowledge you can have anyone you want repair it anyway. You're not held to ransom by their insurance company or having choice of repairer on your own policy. It's not your fault if the other party that hit you has cheaped out on their insurance or not.

Hence you can have it repaired wherever you want and you can refuse their company's quote / place of repair. Their insurance company do have the option of settling it in VCAT if they think your quote is too high and refuse to pay it, though. However, unless it's ridiculously high they will likely just pay for wherever you want to take it and not bother with contesting it.

It's like people thinking Just Cars will force you to go with a repairer from their list. It's actually illegal to do this, to my knowledge. Had a panel beater tell me this, that they just word it cleverly in their PDS to make it sound like you have to. All they can do is contest a quote they think is too high, like every other insurance company. So when I had repairs done, that's exactly what happened. The Just Cars assessor said if I really wanted to I could go with my quote. I ended up choosing theirs because, when I looked at the finer details of the quotes, their recommended place was actually going to do a better job...

Conversely, you also don't have to be satisfied with their repairs and can contest that. Remember legal studies Ric; the law seeks to restore the status quo. If things aren't the way they were before (and you wouldn't even recognise me anymore), you have the right to challenge it until you are satisfied.

Oh and get a hire car for free out of the fkers too.

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
