wxactly what i was saying....

that mazda prob pays about 1500-2k aus insurance a year, expect that to treble next year.... hahahahahahaha

Is your insurance premium also based on previous accident costs as well? Didn't know that

So if I got into an accident with a ferrari tomorrow and was at fault, my premium would go up shit loads?

I know you premium goes up when you make at fault claims but didn't know it's also based on the $$ value of the claims

you declare you have a claim,

they will look at claim history, see it cost half a million quid and laugh at him...

i dont know if its tied together, but i should imagine his insurance will go up more substantially for writing a lambo of than say a mini...

No care if the lambo was speeding

Its as if the Mazda didn't look, and still kept going when the lambo was close

Mazda at fault

On a street lined with cars, the lambo is crazy low... If it was coming fast (it was) then even if that the mazda did look, but couldn't see any cars coming in the immediate area...

Lets say he could see 50m of clear space on the road he was turning onto, and couldn't see any other cars around because the lambo was low and far back, if the lambo was travelling at 50kph it would take a min of 4 seconds before it reached the mazda. In a 50 zone, that is more than enough to be considered a safe gap.

Also, with an accident like that you don't get airborne at only 50, or 80 ;)

Well it's definately a percentage game... My insurance jumped by $60 this year which was only 3%, acceptable. But if my mums insurance jumped by $60 then I'd be saying why the hell is is 15% more when the car is now worth less?

Called up Shannons yesterday actually to fix a few things on my policy... including my listed mods being Bilestine Suspension, Walpro Fuel Pump and a Power Sc...

Hey mang your starting to sound like the vicroads campaign ads

Called up Shannons yesterday actually to fix a few things on my policy... including my listed mods being Bilestine Suspension, Walpro Fuel Pump....

I called them up when referencing a quote and asked to alter some listed mods and they said they didnt care. ie if listed you have coilovers, they dont care if brand changes etc.

Did they mind about having bilsteins? (thought you always had them...)

Was more the typos that the guy made when I first listed off the mods, BILE STINE

Na, they don't care... I altered the Bilstein Shocks on the policy to now be Shockworks Coilovers, zero change to the premium, was just keeping the records up to date...

If you're on agreed value, once you hit a certain number of mods the car goes into the "Modified" bracket, and small changes/additions don't alter the premium or excess or anything.

also. my tempura skills has leveled up like x 100. who's in for nek dinner night?

Sounds good - I hunger some tempura

Yesterday I got rammed from behind by a guy in a Lancer, then we exchanged numbers :turned:

But on a serious note, he has no insurance and cannot speak very good English (been in the country only ten months). Luckily my insurance said they will wave my excess if I take down his details - also, since I'm not at fault, it will not affect my premium or rating :D

Still a pain in the arse having no car for a while.

    • Have a vb in honour of the car comming back
    • It was a great, but typical track day, and some VB was ingested at the night time debrief 🤪
    • And so, to round this out, I couldn't be happier to confirm @MBS206 has decided to buy the car. He drove down from sunny QLD with a trailer last week and it is off to its new home today. I'll let Matt confirm on next steps but I understand broadly that the plan is to leave it pretty much as is, and just get some quality wheel time with a nicely balanced car that is pretty much track ready. There are a few a jobs still to be done first but nothing too major and I think its a very smart buy Dinner last night at the Paragon with a round of VBs (mostly) for Neil
    • Well, 50 pages and the end of a chapter for this car. We took it out for a shakedown at Wakie yesterday, and everything went well. There were a couple of niggles: - Oil cooler fitting leak - tightened, cleaned, stopped leaking - Radiator cap overflow fitting was leaking....Mark called it, the overflow fitting was threaded in and not tight....tightened, tested and held pressure - Small oil leak at the rear of the block, probably the turbo oil feed - too hot to get at it comfortably but probably just needs to be nipped up - leak at the driver's side rear brake line where it meets the hardline. Fitting wasn't loose, so Matt backed it off and back on, no further leaks - there's also a leak somewhere on the top of the fuel tank, maybe that cross over fuel line - that was has been left to fix when its on a hoist Otherwise than those niggles the car went great, turned great and stopped great so it was a very successful day out. I'm always really nervous when a car first hits the track after a long break, especially with a brand new engine as well but it was great. VID-20251011-WA0007.mp4  Big thanks to @The Bogan who dropped by and helped out, @MBS206 and my nephew Lachlan the apprentice.  Neil's wife Mel also surprised the hell out of all of us by dropping by; she's up in Tamworth these days but was travelling to Melbourne so had plausible deniability for turning up at the garage, it was great to see her but also obviously a bit sad all round.
