That's the front

One of my mates cars, currently for sale too

Thing is awesome in person :)

he got it from JPN front and rear 9 with the mivec head and all.

didn't believe him initially that it was a 7

Shit that's a lot of work to be done to do a mivec conversion, that's a awesome car

Engine I presume was rebuilt too?

graphically the main thing deterring me from a 7 was the lights...

with this new info I might just go a 7 and be happy with 220kw odd

Always a fix for cosmetics brah

7s are great.

though at 20k, i'm not sure its good bang for buck.

If you plan on modding bang for buck they become a lot cheaper than a skyline though

about $2k-$2.5k will net you a stock evo to 230ish kw

That's full exhaust, licp, bigger turbo, remapped, ebc and can probably even budget cams in there if you get the exhaust cheap enough

$5k will get you to 300awkw

EVO 7 with EVO 8 / 9 Spoiler?

Yeh but runs the 9 rear bar so looks good cause it matches :)

EVO 7 with EVO 8 / 9 Spoiler / Rear Bar?

and headlights/fin thingy on the roof..

also skirt CF extensions, different front lip, and diffuser extension on the rear bar.

not much really to get it looking like that.

oh thats awesome.

lol not kaitou.. i meant emts.

Sure, sure

I'm just hoping I can get a clean 8 for 17-18ish Christmas next year.

Lol exactly what I'm hoping for as well (perhaps a bit after Christmas also fine). Not sure how likely this hope is, though :S

Yeah.. initial outlay is high..

And i've been thinking about it since last year. Still thinking.

no idea on rebuild was only running around the 240ish IIRC

dont think the work that huge.

Mate just did a MIVEC conversion on his 8MR not super cheap but cheaper than a lit of other mods

boosted his mid range very nicely

do ittttt :P

well I guess it's more for cost and sourcing parts

you need to rewire the whole mivec wiring into the ecu as well

and the head alone is at least $1500 plus wiring

i seriously have no idea why you sold yours.

I do regret it a lot, however at the time I was sick of imports. As a matter of fact I'm still pretty sick of them

Golf gets attention, but not the bad kind and it sits at about 50mm off the ground and has no exhaust :P

also a lot cheap. but fwd gaaaaaaaaaaaay..

though 18km/L makes up for it.

haha that's through town on freeway i get 23 to 25km/l

depending on road incline etc, but usually hangs around 4-4.5 litres per 100km :P

yeh.. im not expecting the evo to be the greatest, but anything would be better than the silvia and its 250km to a full tank lol

expect around 300-350max around suburbs, the small tank is a killer

also they do drink being so responsive :P

well thats fine from a 40 litre tank.

stagea was a 80 litre tank and i was getting max 290km from e85(granted its ethanol)

hmm

I get around 450 around town 600+ on freeway..

lol 270 kw is a very tempting power figure.

and i never did freeway or long distances..

Good to see it's all interchangeable!

lol @ comparing ethanol with PULP on consumptioin

hence why I put in brackets granted its ethanol.

if it wasnt such a risk to do it with the seven rods, i would be tuning on e85 this weekend.

the servo is a 5-10 minute walk from my house lol

    • This looks great! Awesome to have the 5 speed with an LSD in this. The Recaro's look like SR2's or SR3's. It's a shame they've been retrimmed as they would have looked sweet in their original colours. I think I'd want my agent to be a little more up front and informative too. I've never imported but I reckon it would make me a little nervous, so the more info the better.
    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
