just pulled the engine off the stand and encountered my forst problem with the spool crankshaft. The flywheel bolts need to have a washer on them or shortened due to the factory bolts bottoming out. On to the lathe they go then!

  • 2 weeks later...

if i found a double jointed female id be pimpin ma DJ hoe fo sho!

No but seriously, im 6foot4, and resemble some large primate species, gorilla like.....i can only just fit my hands in the bloody cavity the bastard goes!

yeah, i got it. ended up removing the alternator and oil filter and going through the front of the engine bay. I despise the starter in these cars, i almost bled to death lol. Its all starting to come together now, just waiting on some ned alt, ac and ps belts to arrive, a new supersnail to arrive and then its off to the fab shop to get a PS resivoir relocated and hotside piping made up along with a dump and exhaust! Pics tonight :)

Well, engine harness is on, cold side is 95% complete, just waiting on a new fuel filter and some fuel line, then i can bang that in, put the cooler hose and radiator hoses on and im on to the injectors! Was considering going a set of "Adaptors to go from the ID's to the standard plugs, but im instead going to remove the old plug and hard wire in a new plug as it looks neater and there is a little extra wire there if in the future i decide to change my mind again.

Id like to give a big shout out to paul, aka PIGGAZ for his help, and also a shout out to the greater SAU community for thier knowledge of all things arr bee!

Now, some boring, but progressive pictures!

On the way in, by yourself, this method makes it an absolute fcuking mission!

    • Seems like a decent result for a modded JZX110. They are bulky in comparison to the 100 and 90 models (which I'd prefer myself) but they are getting very few and far between here in JP these days. Thanks for the detailed review and the import process into the UK. I also have a car which I'm hoping to export from Japan at some stage so it's good to know if someone from the UK was interested in it. By the way the corrosion underneath is par for the course for cars which were located in/near the mountains or along the Japan sea coastline. They get huge amounts of snow every winter and the sodium chloride is used on the roads. Many cars have some kind of rubber like treatment underneath but they tend to limit it to the wheel arches underbody and fuel tank. Suspension arms and sub-frames will have similar corrosion to your JZX110 which is a common sight. See it all the time and car dealers here generally don't even mention it unless asked.
    • If the sound goes away when you clutch in, the 1.5/2 way diffs are just shit, and you are a normal person. The diff is likely "fine" but driving at anything under 30kmh is a violent horrible experience. It would be exaggerated with solid diff bushings and subframe bushings if you have those.
